82nd Annual Academy Awards

I thought it was funny, but if I am the person getting the award, I would have been mad. How do you follow that up? Completely overshadows your moment.

Yeah, I think that all of the speeches for the noms by past costars is a bit excessive. It's nice in the sense that it allows each of them to get their own tribute (since there can be only one winner) but it's also a bit hypocritical, considering that they cut actual acceptance speeches short throughout the entire show to save time. I still don't understand that. I don't need to hear Michelle Pfeiffer deliver a 1,000-word soliloquoy on routine make-up applications in The Faboulous Baker Boys. I'd be more interested to hear the winner of That-Award-That-The-Academy-Doesn't-Think-We-Care-About be able to say more than "THANKS, EVERYBOD--" before the annoying Get Your Ass Off The Stage Music cues up.

I don't either. Along with the interpretive dance those speeches the most tedious part of the night I saw. They should just go back to showing clips of the nominees and be done with it.

I actually enjoyed the little intro for each of the best actor/actress nominees, i thought it was very movin' in some cases.

I think they should definitely consider asking Robert Downey Jr. to host next year. He'd be perfect for it. And while I'm thinking of ways to improve the show, they need to lose those actor/actress speeches pronto. What a timesink.

BOO for not including Farrah Fawcett in the memorial. Maybe it was just an oversight but that's not an excuse.

I was pulling for Jeremy Renner but it's cool that Bridges won. I'm also glad that Bigelow won best director but I still say Up was the better movie. I just don't think in years to come that The Hurt Locker will be thought of as a classic.

I am still curious to find out what was up with George Clooney. He's usually such a goofy bastard, it was a little odd to see him sitting there fuming. he seemed alright later in the show.

Personally I sort of like that they do that with their past costars. Kind of nice to give them some major compliments. When it comes to award speeches, I'm sorry but this years felt just as long as any other year(just look at Bullock and one of those foreign film directors who won). If anything I'm glad they shut them up with the music because sometimes they can really drag. I understand it's their moment to shine but when you start to name every single producer...really???

I really didn't care for the dance thing either. I wish the Oscars would skip the lame show tunes BS. They should have cut out Doogie Howser's song as well as that dance routine were they're pretty much doing the same moves we've seen for years. I don't know about anyone else but I'm sooo sick and tired of seeing that lame move where the person lifts themselves up with one hand while they kick one of their feet up in the air for a second or two.

As for the article Gilpesh posted. I understand where she's coming from and maybe I read it too fast but it sounds like she sued simply because the director decided to focus on one character rather than the whole group. Like I said, I could be wrong but if that's what the reason was for her to sue I would probably side with the director.

Either way, she could have gone about it better with a bit of class. It wasn't just the interruption but how she came off about it with major *****y and arrogant attitude. I understand that the director made some changes she and whoever else weren't happy about but as far as my opinion goes...he's the director and I say they get final cut/decision since they're the ones actually making the film in the physical sense. At the same time it was a bit humerous because what she did was the equivalent of her telling the director, "**** newb!"

No, I think he was kidding. Everything I've read about the show last night said he was in on the joke and wasn't being serious about looking PO'd all night.

He already has an Oscar, so it's not like he's been shafted before.

Sandra Bollock was good in Blindside, but Best Actress is actually Zoe Saldana, too many they don't nominate CG motion captured actresses.

Even if they did, it wasn't an Oscar worthy performance. I have not seen The Blind Side, so I don't know how good Bullock was, but nothing about her screams Oscar performance in Avatar. None of the performances really did. That doesn't mean the acting is bad, just means not Oscar worthy.

Both should direct a movie together.

Im glad avatar didnt win now it can finally fall into its catagory as a scifi epic and not an oscar worthy movie.

The way I look at it. It's NOT what wins that's important, it's the nominated!

Avatar WAS Oscar-worthy so was the other movies nominated too for the fans of their genres.

I must say, the director is a bit of a jerk. Given their two stories, I'd side with her. I mean, cutting out the woman who made the project happen and changing things you said you wouldn't is wrong.
