9.06 - Crossfire - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

Lol, I feel like I should start writing this down. So 1-11 then 15-22...is that the consensus? Or is "Bulletproof" (#12) really worth enduring the Lana stuff for?

Also, I realize this is pretty OT for this episode thread, but you guys are proving quite helpful so what the heck - I'm thinking I actually want to briefly catch up on where the original showrunners left things, by watching only the ESSENTIAL episodes of S7. My question is, what would those be? If you could reduce S7 to the 8-12 episodes necessary to get what's going on, which episodes would you pick?

Thanks for all the feedback, guys!

I recommend "Bulletproof", is a decent episode in my opinion.

Now for S7:

Bizarro
Kara
Cure (for fans of Dean Cain)
Lara
Blue
Gemini
Persona
Siren
Fracture
Traveler
Veritas
Descent
Apocalypse
Quest
Arctic

Awesome, thanks to everyone that responded! I'll start checking those episodes out. :D

Season 7 wasn't a terrible season, but some parts of it seemed to take away from the point of the show, kara on Smallville was cool, but throwing in flight with her every other ep is what really hurt the show.

I really liked this episode and I don't think Lois and Clark is being forced at all. I like how Clark got stage fright, who would ever think SM would get Stage fright. With out getting my GA comic out and double checking I thought they stuck pretty close to the comic. And I know Lois found out that the GA she kissed was fake but I don't remember her finding out it was Clark. So do you think they'll work it in where she puts it together that Clark and the fake GA are the same person? I would give this episode a 8/10.

I kept waiting for Lana to walk in right as Clark was about to kiss Lois. LOL

actually, I'd love for that to happen. Anything to see Lana hurt. Make up for the years and years of her messing with Clark's head.... He'd be superman by now, if she hadn't ******ed him.

Ep was OK a bit better then last week's but nothing awe inspiring.

Liked the Lois & Clark stuff but the Ollie stuff with Mia was a bit "meh". The Chloe haxxorz stuff was irritating as usual.

I'll just respond to the stuff that wont have us going back and forth, because I honestly don't have the time.

So you dont like it because it has never been done this early before?
Partly, yes.
And see I never understood in the movies why Clark was so in to Lois
Because she's so frickin' hot.

He later finds out that there's a lot more to her than her her good looks. Lois and Clark did this perfectly.
because as far as I'm concerned she was cold and rude to him and didnt require a second glance from him. Pretty much the same with L & C, Clark was in love with Lois from the moment he met her? Is that natural?
Yes, she usually doesn't behave very nicely to Clark, but in many ways, in the true, original version of the story, that is a major plus for Clark, because it only helps his case in keeping his other identity a secret from the one person that he spends the most time with. And it's not like she's aggressively rude to him or anything, she just responds to him like she does to most people, because "that's Lois".
I was a big fan of L & C and I think they developed Lois's love for Clark very nicely, but as I said above, why would Clark be head over heels in love with her from the moment he met her? And the answer to that would be because that's the way its written.
Like I said, it starts out as an infatuation because of her physical beauty as it is with everyone, but over time as he spends more time with her he falls in love with her because of her personality, because deep down, she's a wonderful loving person that only Clark gets to see because of their close working relations. There's a huge difference between infatuation and true love. On smallville they're playing the " meant to be" stuff without having gone through the basics of actually going through that phase of being smitten with one another. Like I told you, it really, truly feels forced.
Not that it bothers me THAT much, but since you asked.

So what is it you think they have been doing with the two of them since they've been thrown together in Season 4? Clark started out in Season 4 by saying he "cant stand her" and by the end of that Season they were two people who had a better understanding and appreciation of each other.... cue their scene in the barn in Commencement.
My honest to God answer to this would be that she's only in the show because she's a familiar name to the Superman fans, and audience in general. At least the reason why she's on the show so early in his childhood in this version of the story.
So then, introducing Lois Lane to a show about Superman is wrong how?
Because it's not a show about superman. At least not the way it was initially conceived, and it's still that very reply the producers give when ever asked about why he isn't wearing the suit yet. They can't have the cake and eat it too. Smallville is a show about a mans journey towards becoming superman, a stage he has yet to reach. And through out supermans history, Lois has always been a part of the grown up life of Clark Kent, not his childhood as well.
While lately Smallville is resembling more and more a superman show, back when Lois was introduced it was anything but.
Really? You enjoy watching Oliver get all emo over, I still dont know exactly. I thought at first it was Jimmy's death and how the Doomsday situation was handled, but in the end it seemed to be regret over killing Lex.
Not necessarily enjoy watching his story, but so far the story of the Green Arrow/Oliver Queen has been more enjoyable than watching something that simply doesn't appeal to me.
Well if you dont like them as a couple in this version, then that's a shame for you, because like the producer at the television studio in this episode, I could sit and watch them in a verbal exchange for hours and the kiss at the end was icing on the cake. They make me smile and that makes me happy. :yay:
Well good for you then

, I wish I could say the same for me, but I can't.
Lois and Clark season one and two, THAT made me smile big time, and honestly, Dean Cain and Teri hatcher were bother better suited for the romance part of the story. They simply did it better. But Welling is of course the better superman, that's why I did all those manips of him in the suit, because he's purely awesome as the Man Of Steel, and always will be. He shares the nr. one spot with Reeve as far as superman is concerned.

I just wanted to reply to this... I'm quite happy with the way this turned out. I wasn't to 'in' to the idea of Lois showing up when she did. I agree it was too early in the journey for Clark to meet her, and I agree, the only reason she was introduced, was because the character would generate interest = $$$.

That being said, I'm happy the way they've developed it so far. For me, at this point in the story, I'm assuming that Clark is only 18 months from jumpin out of the closet it tights... so it works to have the romance developing between them now... with the mystery of the blur still intact. Then when Clark does out himself, the relationship can fall back on that one bit of wisdom Lois brain farted way back when: that she'd keep a secret for someone until they were ready to reveal it, even if she already knew the secret (or something, t'was a long time ago). That one line from Lois made me like the character on the show.

That aspect of Lois, which is borrowed from SII-SIV (where the amnesia kiss does not exist), where Lois keeps it from Clark that she knew his secret all along(even though the most people think superman has some ludacris mind wipe kiss).

But I'm assuming that is how they are going to work out the relationship if this show goes beyond growing up. Lois is the one person in Superman's life that sees Superman the most, and Clark the most (everyone else in this world only gets to see superman in instances, if lucky enough to ever see him). So to rework the relationship so that she knows immediately that Superman is Clark, she will play dumb(pretending not to recognize Clark) as well as keep the secret, until he is comfortable enough to tell her. Likewise, in SIV, when Clark thinks Lois doesn't remember his origin, Lois is constantly encouraging him, telling him "Clark, YOU KNOW Superman will do the right thing". I like that dynamic in the relationship... where Clark doesn't know that she knows, and Lois won't tell him that she knows until he is ready. I like that.

They sewed that seed pretty early.

So Jimmy brought that entire building? or just the top floor?

they never explained how Jimmy could afford such a place...

yea my guess is only the top floor. since that is all we have been seeing of it. Plus who knows he could have probably got it for real cheap value.

i dont think so, it was said by clark that it was a gift to chloe for their wedding, so he probably bought it some time between episodes 2-9 of season 8.

Well, he did get hired by Ollie before he died. Maybe that first paycheck was a fat one?
I think Clark mentioned it was Jimmy's wedding gift for Chloe so he must've gotten it early in the season way before everything turned south for him

I liked this episode for no other reason than Clark finally manning up. The super hackers tryst was annoying. They need to really move away from all the techno babble for awhile. It was bearable when Chloe was infected w/ Brainiac but now it's just dumb.

I'm not liking the direction they are taking Chloe in this season. She sets up elaborate and possibly deadly games to get Oliver out of his funk, hacks into government websites and then blackmails other people into working for her...where are they going with this? If this will lead to some sort of storyline where Clark smacks some sense into her then fine but if they just let her be, then I'll be annoyed.

well i think its an interesting direction for the character, like i said before in another thread. Maybe with "Jimmy's" death she wanted to be able to control things more. So bad things wont happen. But she is going a bit to power hungery and her "Moral compass" is spinning in the wrong direction. Though she will probably end up changing her ways down the road. Though we dont know what is going to happen with her later this season, if she is bumped off(i would hate if they did that) if season 10 is a go and she doesnt renew contract.

Their trying to make Chloe like Barbara Gordon aka : Oracle . :whatever:

Chloe's good, but she no Oracle .
