9.15 - Conspiracy - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

Zod and Kara flew because they didn't have the same mental block Clark has. Everyone is wired differently. Does it make him look weak? Maybe, but it's psychological. It's not like he is affraid to do it or doesn't know how to. He has tried many times, but just can't. He will when he or a certain event can break through that block.

Out of all the characters we have had on this show that has the power to fly, all of them have, accept for Clark. Now instead of using a mental block excuse, that he has for whatever reason why not go with the one,he's been living on Earth his whole life. From Zod, to John Jones, to Hawkman, to Zod, their all aliens but none of them grew up on Earth. A physical excuse to me is a little bit more acceptable than a psychological one. It took time for Clark to grow into his powers, why not use that excuse with flight?

That has been the reason for many seasons. It's not something new like some are acting like it is. The writers could have gone with the many of the ways you just outlined, but they didn't. He has had a mental block when it has come to flying. It's not about embracing his Krytopnian heritage or anything like that, it's all in his head. They built that foundation in the early seasons, when he was affraid of heights. It's just how it is and we have to accept.

Yeah, I know the heights issue, but does that even work anymore? Standing on top of the statue of liberty most people who aren't afraid of heights wouldn't do. So what gives? Come on Lois, fall from a building or something...

Those of you who wanted an explanation of Alia having powers in the Yellow sun and not now? Well maybe in the alternate timeline she got a hold of Clarks blood

I think what would have made me happier, is if Zod was wounded in the destruction of the towers. That way, Clark would have eliminated one threat, only to allow it in another way. Yes, that's what they did in the end... but I think it would have been tidier to have the two events linked, rather than seperated by a week and an episode.

that would have been messy. It would make Clark seem careless like he didn't check the safety of the people first before destroying the towers. I was fine with Clark giving his blood to Zod in the episode but was just baffled at how fast he got the powers. If they had shown Zod slowly developing his powers over the course of a couple of episodes (leading to the season finale) that would have been much better IMO. Instead after one day, Zod learned how to fly...

Like I said, the fear of heights was a foundation to his mental block. It grew from the fear of heights to the block he has now. He doesn't fear heights anymore, but the block is there.

wtf, Zod flying before Clark? I mean come on writers, that really is ******, this is like Season 5-7 all over again... as in ****

I dunno, Clark is already pretty careless in a lot of ways. He wouldn't need Chloe or Oliver if he wasn't, he's still so ignorant of his powers. They could have written in that Zod refused to leave the building or something, there are many simple solutions.

I will admit, the FOTW stuff was actually pretty good, Zod at the DP was fantastic. It was just the whole resolution, made my stomach twist.

I loved the episode, i'm glad Zod gained his powers back!

who didn't see that coming?

it was plainly obvious and i found it cheesy with the blood thing.

i think that everyone is going to be able to fly before clark...

look up in the air, its a bird, its a plane, nope its some lame-o vancouver extra who just got powers 5 mins ago and can now fly.

"look up in the sky" "is someone flying?" "yep" "who doesn't?":woot:

Personaly this is my least favorite episode so far this year. And really another Krytonian flying before Clark after having thier powers no time. Has the powers building in strength just been compleatly retconed away or did that just go for Clark. Also has Chloe forgotten that she stoped Clark from sending Doomsday to the Phantom Zone? For me this was one of those episodes that just makes me shake my head.

she also stuck the black kryptonite in Davis releasing Doomsday, took him on the run where she led him on which led to him killing Jimmy when he found out she didn't love him, yeah Chloe's plans always turn out great.

yea i too agree the blood for zod's power was a bit cliche but it works for the story they were telling. Cant wait to see how this changes things with zod and clark. I agree its a bad move that chloe/ollie are hiding the weapons on clark. He should know of them so they can create plans together and all that.

To be honest I miss the season six days, that one episode was cool with them being a team ever since the end of season 8 its been all sniping and getting on me ****.

Slept through 90% of the episode, and it appears I didn't miss one thing. All I'm going to say is: TOOOOOO F'N EASY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you'd think it would be hard for the Kandys to get their powers back. But no, it's the simplest thing in the world, and makes me wonder why they didn't get Clark's blood say... BACK IN SEPTEMBER.

That was touched upon earlier in the season...in the Zombie episode when they used Clark's blood to cure everyone, Zod and the Kandorians immediately presumed that that blood sample would be the key to their powers.

...but Tess had the sample destroyed before they could get their hands on it. He even confronted Tess about it.

As far as this episode, I liked it...very solid. Really diggin the Zod/Clark dynamic. I like the characterization the writers are going with Zod...it seems that there is some good in Zod and that he truly is just looking out for his people. And after this episode, you can kind of see why he feels the way he does.

Zod being able to fly before Clark? Doesn't bother me. The only one stopping Clark is Clark and i'm fine with that.

Gotta say this though--I'm not usually one to rag about this since everyone else seems to but...SERIOUSLY, Chloe is getting ridiculous.

I mean she seems to have this serious false sense of entitlement and acts as if she knows better than Clark AND Ollie when it comes to protecting the world. I mean who does she think she is?!

If she keeps this 'holier than thou' attitude up, I wouldn't mind if they killed her off at seasons end. :o

sure we all are pissed clark is not flying heck i am too. But i have learned they have their silly reasons for it and all that. But if we want to get technically in the show clark/kalel has flown prior to other kryptonians on the scene. Hovering over his bed in episode 2, the tornado thing season 1/2,to night flying/dream flying in season 2, the kalel flying in season 4. To name a few times. But i do hope we will have him flying by the end of the season. Plus even if they do have him doing it for real this time. They will probably still not have him flying all the time. Watch if he does fly by the finale. Come next year he will probably only fly like episode 2-3 episodes or something.

It really doesn't bother me at all...

It'll make when he finally learns to that much more epic, imo.

Kill Chloe
Make Clark fly

then this season would be a perfect 10 :D

I'm glad Clark can't fly yet!

Double post

I only clicked the post button once...

Why not bring back short bursts but make it consistent? He's done it in ever season up until season 5 anyways (Season One he is over his bed, Season Two he flies to Lana's car, Season Three when he jumps off the Daily Planet, he starts falling and then blasts into the LuthorCorp building, Season Four he ACTUALLY flies, Season Five's premiere when Clark is being sucked into the Phantom Zone he blasts forward and throws Zod's disciples into the Zone) so every once in a while when Clark jumps have him blast forward a bit!

ALSO don't forget that Jor-El said that Clark isn't flying because he's too attached to his human side and still hasn't fully embraced his kryptonian heritage. Jor-El says that he is still attached to humanity because of Lois.

It's true that Clark doesn't know Zod has powers now. Even in the previews for the next batch of episodes, Clark is surprised to learn it. Still, it bothers me that one drop of Clark's blood gave Zod all the powers including flight after one day. Maybe it really is about embracing your Kryptonian side? I mean out of all the Kryptonians who could fly before Clark, they all had one thing in common: they embraced their hertiage. Clark still has issues with being Kryptonian but raised as a human. Even if it all comes down to a simple mental block, I think it's still a weak excuse to give.

Another thing that was a bit out of character for Clark was when he was questioning the doctor in the hospital. Maybe it was just me, but I didn't like that he threatened the doctor with giving out false info in an interview. Surely there could have been a better way of getting him to talk than just handing out empty threats...

Actually, that's the first thing I pointed out to my roommate. It just didn't seem very Clark-like but oh well I guess...

Yes, I do remember that but I got a question. In the last episodes to the series finale when Clark actually does fly, wouldn't he be more close to Lois than ever before? Gotta find that balance Clark, and with him not been to the Fortress for a while is not helping!

just watched it - AMAZING episode IMO!!! Zod was amazing in that last scene, you can tell he will relish his powers and I can see an epic Clark vs Zod fight coming

Chloe was annoying in the beginning, was cool in season 6 and slowly became more and more stupid.

Maybe it just means he has to accept himself as Kryptonian instead of hiding it to Lois or hiding his face from the world.
