9.19 - Charade - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

I don't know if this was already mentioned, but was it ever explained how Clark and Lois got their jobs back? I mean it would be pretty weird for the two of them to have dinner on top of the Daily Planet without actually working there.

I'm guessing that they get their jobs back in "Hostage" with the new Editor-in-Chief Perry White

I love how the shot of The blur on the rooftop from Lois's point of view in the alley looks like The Blur flew up to the rooftop rather than super speeding .

yea they didnt get jobs back yet. i do hope they either get it back in episode 21 if perry becomes editor, or have him tell stern to rehire them. or get rehired by the finale. i definitaley dont want to waste time in season 10 with them getting rehired.

Yeah I just re-watched the last 15 mins of the episode and Chloe mentions to Clark that he is jobless, which still makes me wonder why Clark and Lois were even allowed on the rooftop to begin with. I mean you'd think a place that is was once run by Lex and then Tess would have security or at least policies that kept watch over that place.:whatever:

well maybe they bribed a guard or something to get access. its just a minor detail really.

I think SV's time line has always been a little messed up because you could make a pretty good argument that at least part of season 1 Clark, Chloe, Lana and Pete are not Freshmen. I say this because Clark is driving in the episode with the two guys who have meteor powers that let them control peoples minds. I think there is also mention of Pete driving in an episode and few other lines here and there could be took as they've been in high school than just being Freshmen. Plus why would nothing but Freshmen take over the school news paper? By the way if anyone can disprove these things go ahead because I might just not be putting some things together that makes things fit into place. But unless they give an actuall date as to when the actually time line is taking place I say just stick with it being 2010. I also was like how did they get on top of the Daily Planet if they don't work there. But they could have been onto of the Watchtower, Luthor Corp(not likely) or some building that Ollie owns. Did they even mention that it was the DP roof top? What I mean is this had to be a different night and I don't remember they saying where they are. But I could have missed it.

There is a whole lot of things that you notice when you over analize the show when they were 14. For starters how wrong is it for Whitney to be dating Lana(which seemed to be for a good while when we first meet them). The driving thing another big issue. Some people argue that 14 year olds can drive in Kansas, but that is only partially true, 14 years old can drive in Kansas is they are doing it for farming purposes and they have to be accompanied by an adult(which we don't see Clark in most cases). It should also be noted that Chloe was seen driving a few times.

I personally don't know why the show just didn't start them off as 16 year olds to avoid some of these issues.

It definantly was the DP rooftop because they used that set many times, in Idol they even mentioned where it was(where it was mentioned to be the DP rooftop)

I know my cousin in Greece who lives in the country and farms, has been driving since she was 11/12. Of course, that's Greece, and there's no drinking restrictions there either so, I'm not sure how it is over here in the states (as far as the country goes). I live in the suburbs of Chicago and there's definitley no driving till at least 16, most 18.

the country may be different though, I wouldn't put it past 14 year olds to be driving (for farming purposes) regardless of being accompanied by an adult.

actually from what we know clark/chloe/pete were all around 15 yrs old and in some states 15 yr olds can get drivers licenses and all that. clark/chloe/pete were 14 yrs old at the events we saw in chloe's memory in that season 8 episode. Plus we know season 1 was freshmen yr as what we saw in the show, season 2 was sophomore yr, season 3 was junior yr, and season 4 was senior yr. Then season five was start of college but we all know where that went.

Off topic, but Chicago suburbs, holla!

which events do you mean? Are you referring to when Clark met Chloe for the first time (I think that was a flashback in the episode Abyss)?

yea that is what i meant which was a scene of their meeting in 8th grade which is when they were 14, and season 1 was 15 yrs old.

Lana is actually a year behind.

She was 18 at the start of Grade 12 in September (S4). Interesting sidenote.

That would make her a year older than Chloe and the others.

just finished reading the review trip. Another solid written review, and was a good read.
