91st Annual Academy Awards

An actual exchange I had earlier:
Some idiot: "Roma's gonna win best picture tonight! It's a lock in!"
Me: "Uh, all the other nominees are better choices dude. What makes this so special other than Alfonso Curaon directed it? It's just a Mexican family drama!:
SI: "It's in Black and White therefore it's poignant!"
Me: "......You're kidding right? That's your excuse?"

That guy sounds kinda dumb, but...ALL the other nominees are better choices than Roma is what you're going with?

I was going to say... in what world is Bohemian Rhapsody, Vice, or Green Book better than Roma?

Final predictions for the major categories:

Picture: Roma
Director: Alfonso Cuaron
Actor: Rami Malek
Actress: Glenn Close
S. Actor: Mahershala Ali
S. Actress: Regina King

My predictions
Picture: Green Book
Director: Alfonso Cuaron
Actor: Rami Malek
Actress: Glen Close
Supporting Actor: Richard E. Grant
Supporting Actress: Regina King

Regia really does deserve her Oscar for Beale.

I'd really like The Favourite to take Best Picture. It's in a whole other class when you compare it to Green Book, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Black Panther.

Watching A Star Is Born finally. Really enjoying it thus far. Sam Elliot's got swearing down to an art form.

Or Black Panther...
I didn't want to sauté my own face watching any of those.

Agree to disagree.

I'd be OK with that but I'm rooting for BlacKkKlansman.

****in' yeah! He sure does ****in' know how to ****in' throw those ****in' curse words!

I've already got the red carpet stuff on. Sad I couldn't get to rent The Favourite, less sad about not being able to see Vice, but 6/8 of the best picture nominees seen ain't bad.

However if I was a voter, I definitely would make a stronger effort to seeing them all. Especially with all the free screeners.

I think Colman can pull the upset. Yes, it would be seen an upset going by the amount of respect Close has in the industry. Even some of them anonymous oscar voters have stated only picking Close because she is ''due'' and not necessarily to being the best actress this year.

An interesting tidbit: Vice, The Favorite, and ASIB were all nominated for 3 acting awards and there’s a 99% chance that none of them are going to win any acting award. :csad:

The biggest shot to break that pattern is Colman followed by Weisz.

Once again the Indie Spirit Awards was a better show than the Oscars.

I don’t trust the anonymous voters. Those are just cherry picked to create some drama in an otherwise predictable race. I’d love for that to happen but I doubt it. In my perfect world, Colman/Bale/Weisz/Grant would be the winner’s roster and none of that is likely happening. :funny:

I know it won't happen but I'm still rooting for Black Panther to win Best Picture. The meltdowns would be incredible and extremely enjoyable to witness

You know... I'd be very disappointed because The Favourite, BlacKkKlansman, and Roma are so much more deserving... but if that happened I would love to see the fanboy community lose their **** because a superhero movie finally cracked the last possible ceiling, but because it was the black superhero movie, they're furious.
