Tell you one thing, if terrorist wanted to attack us, right now would be a great time, considering all media and attention is towards this hot mess.

I get the impression from some that they think this is something that either NEVER happens and thus must be an indication of some grand societal breakdown, or it is something that ALWAYS happens and is therefore the indicator of some grand societal breakdown. Either viewpoint is... pretty ignorant.

Tell you one thing, if terrorist wanted to attack us, right now would be a great time, considering all media and attention is towards this hot mess.

And this just plain doesn't make a lick of sense.

Predominatly white sporting riots are mainly confined mainly to Europe and South America and you can bet that I consider those involved to be animals.

When stupid white college students start doing this after a sporting event they are equally as primitive. Let's be honest here too but it has never gotten like this after some college game. This is on a complete different level for several reasons.

It's a complicated issue that isn't getting any better. The bottom line is thqt these are the ill side effects of a disgusting plague called slavery. I hope all of this will teach future generations to never succumb to this practice as it ends up affecting people hundred years down the line of all races.

Sorry to put you out there, you seem like a good guy but I found this article that shows rioting happens all the time but yet is looked at differently when minorities are involved.

You mean how it'll spiral in the media? Or because we wouldn't expect it?

Because I think we're still vigilant, even when one city is on fire.

You know...I've listened to the Mayor's words, the one that's become a controversy, and I'm starting to feel like the only sane person in a crazy room. Re-watching what she said, she didn't say anything wrong. Even seeing MSNBC misquote her, then play the video where she didn't say the actual quote they said, is all...like I said, I'm starting to feel like the only sane person in a crazy room.

Am I the only one? Or maybe I'm not following the train of words everyone else is seeing?

The terrorists are in the streets looting and committing arson.

I wouldn't call them terrorists. If not for anything else than to not welcome the argument for sending Americans into a Blacksite.

I guess when frat boys flip and burn cars after their team wins or loses they're just as bad as Al Queda and ISIS.

I've never heard people called thugs after their team won their championship and they do damage. I've only heard them be called "fans" and that's odd.

I don't know how that's possible. Racism disappeared when Obama was elected. How can this be?!

All jokes aside, police seem to not give a darn any more, regardless of race. There has to be something done about what's going on. I know a lot of people will say that it's being taken out of context and there is an agenda being pushed but how can you possibly defend this video? You can't!

And still there are people trying to defend the police as being in the right to assault suspects.

I guess when frat boys flip and burn cars after their team wins or loses they're just as bad as Al Queda and ISIS.

They are to the poor guy who just got his car flipped and burned. When innocent people have their property destroyed by anyone else for something they had absolutely nothing to do with because that person was mad at someone else....then as far as they are concerned terrorists did it.

In this case, I think cops should get more time when they are found to do things like this. Why? They should be held to higher standards plus with the money they make, there really isn't any excuse. Plus there's no telling how many innocent people are in jail because of these losers planting evidence.

I saw where some of the rioters doused a pizzeria owner in gas and tried to set him on fire. He was watching his niece when it happened. I'd call it terrorism as well.

You just nailed terrorism. That's what it comes down to when you strip away the morality that terrorists force on it to feel better about themselves.

@Docker: Agreed. There needs to be a higher standard for our officers.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/...king-re-enacting-brutal-beating-of-Floyd-Dent

The video is at the link. Watch as those pigs laugh it up and mock Dent after brutally beating him to the point of broken ribs and a broken eye socket. Dent is right there listening to that **** while they ignore his pleas for medical attention.

Every single one of those pigs are thugs and should be fired and/or jailed.
Agreed.

In case all haven't already seen what they are "fist-bumping" celebrating about; here's the footage of the stop, them dragging him out of his car, and them escalating to a quick brutal beating.

They'll argue resisting arrest.
After he's on the ground, they go so quickly into the headlock/choke, at the same time probably yelling arms behind your back.
But who wouldn't instinctively fight a choke? So the arm doesn't go back.
And then starts the head pounding.

Freddie Gray Suffered Fatal Head Wound in Back of Police Van

1232078896613155217.jpg

Freddie Gray sustained a fatal injury after his head slammed into the back of a police van, according to several law enforcement sources who spoke with WJLA.

According to the sources—who were reportedly briefed on the official Baltimore police investigation handed over to prosecutors this morning—a wound on Gray’s head matches a bolt from the back of the van. The investigation, the sources claim, also found no evidence that Gray suffered his injury during his arrest, or at any other time prior to entering the van.

If true, the WJLA story would contradict a report leaked last night to the Washington Post which claimed that Gray somehow broke his own back inside the van; the sources who spoke to ABC affiliate said the official probe didn’t determine whether the injuries were self-inflicted or if they were suffered involuntarily.

The report also contradicts a CNN interview with a family member of one of the officers involved—apparently someone from the van—who said the injuries occurred during the arrest, and not during transport.

What’s more: The WJLA report claims that the person driving the police van has yet to give an official statement to authorities, which certainly makes it seems like he or she is lawyering up or, at the very least, hiding something.

Leaked Report: French Troops Raped Starving Children in Central Africa

1230432987067826092.jpg

According to a report leaked by a (now suspended) United Nations aid worker, French peacekeeping troops in the Central African Republic have been accused of raping and sodomizing the same “starving and homeless young boys” they were supposed to have been protecting.

The abuse, which allegedly took place between December 2013 and June 2014, is a particularly egregious example of the sorts of abuse UN peacekeepers have been accused of for years. From The Guardian:

The children described how they were sexually exploited in return for food and money. One 11-year-old boy said he was abused when he went out looking for food. A nine-year-old described being sexually abused with his friend by two French soldiers at the IDP camp when they went to a checkpoint to look for something to eat.

The child described how the soldiers forced him and his friend to carry out a sex act. The report describes how distressed the child was when disclosing the abuse and how he fled the camp in terror after the assault. Some of the children were able to give good descriptions of the soldiers involved.

Anders Kompass, the aid worker who leaked the report, gave the gruesome document to the Aids Free World advocacy group, which is now seeking an internal inquiry into how the UN handles abuse cases. As the group’s co-director, Paula Donovan, explained to The Guardian, “The UN’s instinctive response to sexual violence in its ranks – ignore, deny, cover up, dissemble – must be subjected to a truly independent commission of inquiry with total access, top to bottom, and full subpoena power.”

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is expected to address the situation later tonight from Paris.

Rikers CO: I Was Almost Fired For Hitting Inmate During Sexual Assault

1230102751572264484.jpg

A Rikers Island corrections officer assigned to prisoners accused of serious violent crimes claims she was sexually assaulted by an inmate and was threatened with termination for fighting off his advances. “He violated me,” Rikers corrections officer Samantha Moscoso told ABC New York. “And I screamed and I screamed for him to let go, for him to get off, for him to let go, for him to stop.”

According to Moscoso, she was escorting 25-year-old Dexter Bell to the showers Sunday morning, when he pinned her against the railing and “reached back and grabbed her between the legs.” She fought back, she told ABC New York, “by putting my hands on him in his head, his neck, his upper torso area, so he could let go.”

Bell is a sex offender convicted of the attempted rape of a 17-year-old girl and awaits trial for allegedly raping three other women.

Moscoso told ABC New York that she was reprimanded by her supervisor for hitting Bell, telling the news station:

“She told me, ‘Oh you put your hands on him?’ And I’m hysterical crying. ‘You put your hands on him? The department doesn’t take too kindly to head shots. That’s grounds for termination.’ You’re more concerned about an inmate and I’m your officer?”

Police have since arrested Bell for the alleged attack, but only after, Moscoco says, she got her union involved.

What the hell kind of priorities does that prison have?

Los Angeles County to Pay $700,000 to Minorities Targeted by Cops

1229565599156422319.jpg

On Tuesday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department agreed to a $725,000 settlement with the Justice Department, the result of a two-year investigation that found systematic civil rights abuses against minorities living in Antelope Valley, the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

Under the agreement, the Sheriff’s Department admits to no wrong-doing, but will comply with a series of recommended reforms, pay $25,000 in penalties and give $700,000 to minority victims of police harassment—substantially less than the $12 million the government originally demanded.

According to the Justice Department, deputies repeatedly intimidated African Americans living in subsidized housing with surprise inspections by as many as nine armed officers, sometimes with their guns drawn, violating the Fair Housing Act. From the Associated Press:

In at least one case, a deputy conducting a housing compliance check apparently helped fuel hatred by sending photographs of luxury vehicles in a home’s garage to the person who set up an “I Hate Section 8” page on Facebook.

The family’s home was vandalized with a racist message scrawled on the garage door and urine was thrown on their son by someone who called him a racial slur.

The family moved back to inner city Los Angeles to escape further harassment.

Additionally, the investigation found that Sheriff’s deputies “engaged in a pattern or practice of stops, searches, and seizures and excessive force” that violated the constitutional rights of African Americans and Latinos living in the area.

“This settlement is not an indictment of the men and women in uniform assigned to the Antelope Valley,” L.A. County Supervisor Michael Antonovich told The L.A. Times in a statement today, “but rather a recognition that improvement was needed which presented an opportunity to make the Antelope Valley a better place to live and work.”

I wish people wouldn't take these payouts and make them admit their wrongdoing

Meatloaf From Rikers Island Tests Positive for Rat Poison

1229344862846273826.jpg

A group of Rikers Island prisoners who claim they were poisoned by their guards have some significant evidence, their lawyers say: the meatloaf they were served reportedly tested positive for Brodifacoum—commonly known as rat poison.

The evidence is less-than-ironclad (the meatloaf samples were provided by the prisoners and the prison hospital never tested the prisoners’ blood or urine) but lawyers say the guards may have been motivated by the attempted rape of a guard the week before. Via the New York Post:

The 19 prisoners allege in a Brooklyn federal lawsuit that they fell violently ill after being served meals in their housing unit on March 3 during a three-day lockdown stemming from the attempted sex attack, court papers state.

“Some of the inmates kept the food as evidence,” their lawyer, Joann Squillace, told The Post Monday. “I personally saw what looked like blue pellets — especially in the meatloaf.”

The attorney said medical staff told the prisoners they ate rat poison.

Squillace said that a prisoner is usually assigned to assist Rikers staff in preparing and distributing meals — but that inmate claims he was suspiciously barred from taking part in the process that day.

The prisoners filed suit Monday seeking an emergency court order; a hearing is reportedly scheduled for Thursday.

If true that is messed up

Apparently, there's evidence.

And Rikers has always been considered a ****ing ****hole. I've seen fights break out at the very suggestion that someone would wind up there, starting from arguments and leading to fist fights. It's had an infamous reputation in New York for a long time.

UPDATE: Gray's Death Ruled a Homicide; Cops Charged With Murder, Manslaughter

1233237793901569381.png

Freddie Gray’s death has been ruled a homicide by the Baltimore state attorney Marilyn Mosby. Six officers have been charged with a number of crimes, including second-degree murder, manslaughter, assault, misconduct, and false imprisonment. A warrant has been issued for their arrest.

Mosby said Freddie Gray’s arrest was illegal, and that he suffered a severe neck injury as a result of being shackled without a seat belt in the van.

From the Baltimore Sun:

Mosby said an investigation found officers placed Gray in wrist and ankle restraints and left him stomach-down on the floor of a police van as they drove around West Baltimore. Despite his repeated requests for medical attention, they did not provide it and continued to drive without securing him in the van, she said.

Officers on at least five occasions placed Gray in the van or checked on him and failed to secure him, she said. By the time they reached the Western District police station, he was not breathing and was in cardiac arrest, she said.

Officer Caesar R. Goodson, 45, who was driving the police van, was charged with second degree murder (maximum sentence of 30 years), three counts of manslaughter (10 years for two charges, three years for the other), second degree assault (10 years), and misconduct.

Officer William Porter, 25, was charged with involuntary manslaughter (10 years), second degree assault (10 years), and misconduct.

Lt. Brian W. Rice, 41, was charged with involuntary manslaughter (10 years), two counts of second degree assault (10 years each), two counts of misconduct, and one count of false imprisonment.

Officer Edward M. Nero, 29, was charged with two counts of second degree assault (10 years each), two counts of misconduct, and one count of false imprisonment.

Officer Garret E. Miller, 26, was charged with two counts of second degree assault (10 years each), two counts of misconduct, and one count of false imprisonment. And Sgt. Alicia D. White, 30, was charged with manslaughter (10 years), second degree assault (10 years), and misconduct.

“To the people of Baltimore and the demonstrators across America, I heard your call for ‘no justice, no peace.’ Your peace is sincerely needed as I work to deliver justice on behalf of this young man,” Mosby said near the end of the press conference.

The Baltimore police union has, of course, condemned the charges, saying “none of the officers involved are responsible for Freddie Gray’s death.”

They needed to be charged
