Days of Future Past Actors from original trilogy on First Class sequel with Days of Future Past - Part 1

Honestly, I think it's pretty clear that Cyclops was killed by Phoenix. Considering she said she killed him, and that was the reason she went insane.

But since they didn't show the actual scene of Cyclops dying and out of breath. Some people are assuming that he might still be alive and its not really impossible to imagine. A good writer could get away with that.

I really want to see Bishop in this one because I think they could easily include him in the story. But I feel like every time they announce a returning actor to be appear in the movie, the chances of getting a new character or a new X-Men is getting slimmer. I would love to see a new X-Men in the future.

There will certainly be new characters

She was already nuts. There are any number of ways around it, if they choose to bring him back. And they better. :argh:

Yes they could get around it... but do you really think Days of Future Past will put so much effort into revealing that Phoenix spared Cyclops' life when it seems to have little to do with the focus of the movie? Would be interesting, but I wouldn't get my hopes up. That's probably what got you upset to begin with.

its true they could bring cyclops back if they wanted but they would need a good excuse to do so because he isn't a character like wolverine who if he had been killed off you could bet they would have a whole xmen film just about the resurrection of wolverine

Nobody's upset, squirt.

I mean upset at The Last Stand for killing Cyclops. Cyclops fans were very disappointed, especially when there were so many fake scripts that did so much with him, then he dies in the beginning of the movie? It's understandable, but we all need to control our expectations and think about it realistically. When they already have a huge cast of characters, Bryan Singer (who didn't do much with Cyclops to begin with) is very unlikely to bring him back after he was presumably killed by Phoenix. That's all I'm saying.

It's cool, I actually don't expect to see him back but if they're playing with time travel and whatnot it's doable.

Yes, but its not yet confirmed if there will be a new X-Men character that we haven't seen before in a X-Men movie.

No but there's not been a single new suoerhero film sequel to not introduce anyone new.... There's also got to be a physical villain other than sentinels and doubt it will be magneto again.

Bishop probably has the most likely chance.... But, we could also be getting Syrin and Jubilee who could both easily get a recast and larger part.... I suppose there's a small chance we could get cable or Rachel grey...

Marrow, psylocke (more accurate) or any of the newer mutants created in the last 15 years probably also have a decent chance

I know this idea will probably annoy you guys haha, but I would love if the one new mutant they introduced was Rachel (with no last name given). She would be very mysterious and show up in the future to help the X-Men/rebellion, where Logan and Storm would be completely disturbed by her uncanny resemblance to Jean. She would have some kind of reality altering power (in addition to her possible Phoenix powers) and help guide the time-travel mission. In the end it would be revealed that she came from the timeline where her parents survived and needed to prevent it from being destroyed. This is where we would get a cameo of Jean and Scott at the end of the movie, alive and well in the saved timeline.

Haha just my fanboy dream storyline. It's way complicated in that it needs to introduce a fracture in time where two possible futures coexist, but in my head it's nice...

Cyclops and Jean live!

Well, at least Cyclops:cyclops:

meh.. once you start telling people to "ignore this and that" ... you're giving the film excuses to still make sense in your head. You're forcing it to work for you rather than the film telling you how it is.

The films are full of errors... and that's how it is. people shouldn't be making ridiculous excuses for them.

This is so true. I love the X-men movies (well the first two anyways) but I'm not going to pretend they were without fault.

Please explain how the cast of First Class changes the dystopian future that takes place after the events of the original trilogy, without changing the events of the original trilogy. Otherwise, what is this talk of clean up, time travel, and multiverses, if a changed or alternate universe doesn't occur in some form or another???

Simple; the FC crew and their future counterparts team up in the past to stop whatever leads to the dystopian future from which the future mutants came; the future mutants then return to the future knowing that their actions have prevented the chaos they left behind from happening and that the future they return to will be different than the one they left.

It's the Yesterday's Enterprise/Back to the Future Pt. 2 model of time travel story , not the Star Trek '09 model of time travel story.

Yes, but its not yet confirmed if there will be a new X-Men character that we haven't seen before in a X-Men movie.
I'm rooting for Cable or Bishop. I suspect we'll get Bishop if any, seeming at he was in the X Men cartoon's take on DOFP.

As an addendum to what I said above, you can also do exactly what the DoFP comics themselves did and reveal that, despite the actions of the two X-Men teams, the dystopian future still exists, leaving open the possibility of revisiting it at some point. This leaves the existing continuity of the franchise intact while also leaving the door open for a possible return to telling stories about the characters and cast from the OXT in the future and allowing the FC prequel series to continue as well.

That would also render everyone's efforts in the movie rather pointless.

In the comics, the future that was depicted becomes an alternate timeline.

No. It allows the First Class series to continue, and movies about a post-apocalyptic version of their future to continue. Wouldn't you like to see a present day X-Men film that doesn't take place in a Sentinel run future at some point?

Who said that, under the second scenario I suggested, the only storytelling options would be to use the FC historical setting or the dystopian future setting to tell future stories? I'm expecting that there will be quite a significant passage of time between the events of TLS and The dystopian future setting of DoFP, so even if the dystopian future setting were to continue to exist, I see no reason why you couldn't tell stories in the period of time between the end of TLS and the time leading up to when the dystopian future came into existence.

I don't know if you've seen Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, but that series provides a good example of what I'm talking about.

That would also render everyone's efforts in the movie rather pointless.
I can't really argue against that, but the same could be said of the actual DoFP comic story as well since the dystopian future continues to exist despite the actions taken in the past.

Lol.. I remember watching Last Stand in the cinema and seeing that scene between Cyclops and Jean, and just when it happened My Sister and I just didnt believe that he was dead. I remember at various points in the film, we were like, "Ok, CYCLOPS is Coming BACK NOW!!"

Up until the Funeral scene in the film, we believed that Cyclops was alive! I hated that film. Angel and Cyclops never even wore their X-Suit in the film, only the posters. I felt so ripped off. Not even taking into account that the Last Stand was like 82min long. That film was just a waste...

Although I want Cyclops back, I think they should only bring him back in X4... Theres to many things going on this film as is. It will be better if they really built up the character in X4 instead.

I'd be cool with that. This one is going to be pretty crowded as it is.

X3 could have been so much longer especially if they focused on character developments for some of the characters and I agree with Cyclops coming back in X4 instead of DOFP.
