That's actually the only way to make the story work without erasing the events of X1, X2, TLS, and The Wolverine and doing a 'soft' reboot, which doesn't make sense given that they want to expand and weave together the franchise as it currently exists, not reset it.

That's possible. Different but possible.

It doesn't make sense for past X-men to come to future. We already know from Singer himself the original comic storyline Is being used with other stuff. This Isn't DOFP In name only.If they follow the oriignal comic cutting back and forth between future and past It's
possable half of film Is In future and half In Past.

Why couldn't it be DOFP in name only? FC was FC in name only.

I agree, I think the past X-Men will come to the future. They'll all fight together as one big team, past and future.

I hope they give Iceman a little more style this go around. Give him a backwards hat or something, and maybe some one-liners.

He reminded me too much of a mini Cyclops, with the ken doll vibe.

No offense to Cyc lol.

Go with a wannabe rapper style?

I think a jokester Iceman would be too much a departure from X-men movie Iceman. I think Shawn's Iceman worked for the movie and you don't really get a lot of Iceman fans (the 4-6 that he has!) complaining about him being different from the comics. I think they're just happy someone's doing something with his character.

And last time I checked Ashmore is taller than Marsden, so who's the mini-who ;)

Well I don't want a complete hipster Iceman lol, just a little something to have him stand out a bit.

I just thought the hat would be a nice touch.

But the thing I love about this poll is that both Havok and Banshee are at the very bottom!

They don't really have a big fan-base and they aren't as well known as Colossus, Cyclops, Nightcrawler and Gambit, thats why.

If they're counting X-Men: The Last Stand, which it appears that they are... No reason not to bring back Kelsey's Beast.

I don't think they need to bring back Beast because I feel like they ended his role in X3 well. Unless they want to tie-in Beast's role in the government again then it could work. But there's the younger version of him is gonna be in the movie so its fine if they don't bring back the older version of Beast.

Im pretty sure this cements the idea that the "future" is likely where the setting of the film is rather than the future people coming to the past. The "future" cast is getting much larger than the present. I think the past xmen will travel to the future.

And what happens if Bryan Singer announced that January, Caleb, Lucas, Rose, Jason, Zoe and Alex are going to be back too. Will it be the future cast going to the past again?

This movie needs to be about 5 hours long.

2 hours and 40 minutes would be perfect!

Singer should just completely ignore that Cyclops was killed off. X3 is fading from people's memory, and these movies are loose sequels/prequels anyway. I can pretty much guarantee you that nobody would give a crap.

I disagree about this. Just because X3 sucked, it doesn't mean they should entirely ignore it like it didn't happened. And casual viewers still watch X3 and some people actually liked that movie. Ignoring X3 would just build confusion and I'm happy that it looks they won't ignore the movie after all.

Well the fact that Singer mentioned that these are the ones that are still alive doesn't bode well for the ones that were assumed to be dead in X3.

Exactly! And I feel like him mentioning Brett Ratner's name shows that he respects X3 and the events that happened in the movie that he's isn't entirely going to change the continuity by ignoring X3.

Why include those two as some of the first X-men in X-men First Class to begin with? :oldrazz:

Actually all the reports say "inspired by" which already insinuates it will be different but have a couple similar elements.

id still say the fc team goes into the future and that some of the fc roster takes the back seat to the vastly more popular original xmen cast that more people would probably rather see.

I know id still take X4 over fc2 given the option. Even though i still loved FC

Eh, it's still a FC sequel. That hasn't changed. And you can't change the future by being in the future. You have to go back...

That's your mind set. At this point its actually far more looking like a sequel to BOTH fc and x3/wolverine
Its essentially like avengers still technically being a sequel to cap,IM, , hulk & Thor

Maybe because of the time period they picked? They have to be in the early 80s to introduce the younger version to introduce Jean Grey, Cyclops and Storm.

Also..... It wouldn't be the first time x-men fought to help a future version of themselves . Yes they'd still go back to change things. No one said they would change the future by being in the future.... But what's more exciting for a film ending... STOPPING a death of a senator or fighting a bunch of sentinels and liberating a mutant concentration camp??

If the movie starts out in the future with Kitty, Rogue and Iceman being hunted by Sentinels and Wolverine aiding...it needs to be VASTLY different from X3's Danger Room scene...

It's already been established *that* was the reason why they didn't introduce Jean, Cyke or Ororo this go-around.

Doesn't change the fact that it wasn't a very wise decision, especially since neither Banshee nor Havok really contributed anything in the grand scheme of things.

And the "too young excuse" for Cyke and Storm didn't stop them from having cameos from "obviously Cyke and Storm" characters during the Cerebro sequence. LOL

It doesn't matter if the scenes are exciting if they don't contribute much to the story. What sounds more "exciting" - one single Terminator chasing a girl in the past, or human survivors fighting hundreds of Terminators in the dystopian future? And yet there's a good reason why the movie doesn't spend half of its time in the dystopian future.

That was just something for the fans to look at and those kids that we saw from the Cerebro sequence were never labeled as Scott Summer and Ororo Monroe unlike with Henry McCoy appearing in X-Men 2. These little cameos are not hard to ignore compare to Professor X's cameo in XOW.

But why do it? You don't have to answer. It's a question none of us can answer. I doubt the filmmakers can answer it either.

I know this is wishful thinking but now that Rogue/Paquin is confirmed, I hope some how we get to get to see her with super strength and flight. At the very least she's going to need some kind of new skill set. Otherwise what the hell is she going to contribute in a fight against sentinels?
