But if you must know, I haven't liked anything I saw Ledger in. I didn't like The Patriot, I didn't like A Knights Tale, I didn't like Broke Back Mountain, I Didn't like The Brothers Grimm and I didn't care for The Dark Knight. As for liking the guy personally, well I didn't know him. So suffice it to say that I'm saying that I don't like the guy based on his acting. Fair enough?

Same goes for Depp: I didn't like 21 Jump Street, or any of the POTC movies, or Sweeny Todd, or Edward Scissorhands.

Sorry that I can't do the unrequited fanboy love that 90% of this board seems to thrive upon, but I can't.

Most of those--and I do mean only most--are because they do the same roles over and over again (I'm looking at you Ms. Roberts) and rarely challenge themselves. A few I think overreach and a few are just plain bad. And I think Carrey is the most unfunny comedian ever to become famous. Really.

Usually I either really like an actor's work or could not care less about them if they're bad, but they don't offend me. It takes a laziness or extreme level of mediocrity to irk me. But I must say I see way too many character actors on these posts simply because they became popular recently for their talent. It seems like an unwarranted backlash for quite a few.

P.S. While I'm more inclined to defend someone like Depp, Bale or Ledger (great actors fanboys get overexposed to and then overreact), but this just surprised me.

Even if you hate him, how does Ben Stiller play himself in every role? Derek Zoolander, Dwight Goodman and Tugg Speedman are quite different. Yeah, he plays the bumbling everyday joe which proliferates in comedy quite a bit (Fockers, Something About Mary), but given how ambitious and driven he is, I doubt that is his real personality. And again, while most comedians play certain type of character, Stiller showcases a large amount of variety. Even if you hate him, still.

He like Owen Wilson is quite a talented writer as well and when they work with Wes Anderson they are surely not performing their usual personas either.

Big shout out to Scarlett Johanson, don't see what the big deal is with her so far she hasn't proven to me that she has talent, and her voice sounds "mannish" at times.

Kinda agree. Most of the time, he annoys the hell out of me. And I'm not happy about his inclusion in Law & Order: Criminal Intent either.
