The Force Awakens Adam Driver as Kylo Ren - Part 1

That's what I say. Let the Balance to the Force be the endgame of the saga. It is started by the Chosen One Anakin and finished by his bloodline, Rey and Kylo, each representing the Light and the Dark.

Also, Kylo states he will finish what Vader started, but in actuality, he will aid in finishing what Anakin started.

Except they already said they Disney may not stop at just 9 episodes so if they carry on then it has to keep going somewhere and they already reopened the idea with TFA

Eh. I prefer if they end this particular storyline at IX. A trilogy of trilogies. Three generations of Skywalkers. Balance of the Force.

Disney can continue to make more movies in a galaxy far far away, But give it a new name and number it for its own series. Something like "Star Wars: New Storyline Title, Episode I: New Movie Title."

I kind of want to see older Rey, Finn, Poe, etc if they do another trilogy myself.

Well, we just confirmation that his saber is just badly made, which is nice, since the unstable nature fits his personality.

I'm wondering if he knew that Vader ended up choosing the Jedi way and rejecting the dark side? Since Luke trained Kylo, i'm assuming he told him what happened with this grand father. Kylo is still acting as though Vader would want him to continue with the extermination of the Jedi.

He knows he and Snoke view his compassion as his failing. He worships Vader, not Anakin.

There seems to be this trope in the series that once you go down the dark path, it dominates your destiny and you essentially become a different person. That's at least how Obi Wan and Yoda saw it, and I wouldn't say ROTJ necessarily negates that. Anakin was resurrected by his love for his son, but he and Vader are basically two people. Anakin killed Vader, and then Anakin died of his wounds.
So I'd say that Vader does want Kylo to finish the purge. I would go so far as to say, that I think it'd be pretty cool if we got a Vader force ghost as well as an Anakin force ghost. That way, even though Anakin redeemed himself, he'll never be totally free from his past. Vader is like a shadow that will follow him even in the after life.

I kinda wanna see a dream sequence/flashback while Ben is meditating that shows him as a child sitting in the Falcon's cockpit having fun with Han. I want him to be haunted by memories of his father.

Also, for the feels.:(

It was so good.

Don't forget Driver's hosting Saturday Night Live tonight!

Matt ;) That was great, the football spoof didn't work out though eh

Yes he knows. Visual Dictionary says, "Kylo Ren aspires to build immunity to the light side - to succeed where Darth Vader and his sentimentality once failed."

That is referring to Vader refusing to kill Luke. The novel includes a scene where Snoke and Kylo discuss Vader's sentimental feelings for Luke and how that sentimentality was the reason the Empire and Sith failed. This is why Kylo believes he has
to kill Han. He wants to prove he isn't sentimental as Vader was. He believes that by killing Han he will make himself stronger than Vader. However, it ends up making him weaker. The film left it kind of vague but the novel is a bit more clear. Immediately after killing Han Kylo is stricken by confusion and regret and can't understand why Han's murder didn't make him feel stronger. This all would have been stated outright in the film, but those bits were cut to speed up the pace and to not spell things out so blatantly.

In short Kylo, doesn't think that Anakin turning back to the light was a good thing or what Vader would have done if he was stronger. He thinks it was a moment of weakness that cost Vader his life and caused him to fail his mission to rule the galaxy and destroy the Jedi. Kylo is taking up that mission.

I wish JJ had left those bits in cause it gives good insight into Ben's character.

I think it's all there already. Without turning the whole affair into [BLACKOUT]Han assassination plan[/BLACKOUT].

I think I know why Kylo sports the long luscious hair look.

To hide and/or take the focus off of his ears.

"Since I'm the one who killed him."

I laughed for a good minute after that line during the UB sketch.

That was my favorite line from the skit! :) Driver was awesome, he's a very funny guy.

I imagine they'll work Kylo's confusion over killing Han into a scene towards the beginning of VIII somewhere. It just has to be a line or two.

I want to see a Leia/Ben conversation/confrontation. If not in Episode VIII, then in IX. It's interesting that, for as much as TFA pushes the idea that he hates/resents his father, and idolizes Darth Granddad, we never really get a sense of what his feelings about his mother are? And I'd like to find that out moving forward. Also, what are Leia's feelings towards him now that he's killed Han, the love of her life and Ben's own father?

I think Leia would love her son no matter what but Han's murder might finally make her give up the hope that he'll ever come back.

I don't think Han was the love of her life per say, it's clear they were once married and had a son but since separated even though she likely still held some effection for him
