Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Adrianne Palicki IS Mockingbird

I did like the white t-shirt last night.

BTW, if supposedly the white wouldn't look good on screen, then why go with the ****e t-shirt? Looked pretty good to me! I'm thinking they should try a little white in a future outfit!

Not sure I'm loving the whole "she picks things up really easy" concept. Yes, I get that it's Mockingbord-esque, but they should just keep it to fighting. Make it simply that she has the ability to duplicate or understand someone's fighting style/abilities, and thus defend against it...

They werent implying that she just picked it up right there and then (like the fighting) She had a previous encounter/relationship with the guy. It's not unheard of. I know someone who worked in an Embassy in Africa and was then given 3 months to learn fluent german for his transfer.

No, but they definitely focused on her Mockingbird ability of learning things really easy, or however Hunter stated it.

I'm really, really enjoying her character. I think she's won me over faster than any female character in the show has up to this point (disliked Skye until a little beyond halfway through season 1, was lukewarm on Simmons and May until they had their defining episodes last season). She's also offering some of the strongest acting of the new cast members for this season. Even better than some of last season's as well.

I'm loving her thus far and hope she makes the jump to the movies sometime.

She really needs a proper costume because it looks even worse in live action than in stills. When she was moving about it looked practically all black at times and barely any different to what May was wearing. Anyone who didn't know who she was supposed to be would never make the link that this is her Mockingbird costume. It looks too much like a genetic SHIELD jumpsuit with barely any differentiation.

White would've been so much better. It looked fine when she was wearing a white T-shirt.

Other than that, she seems more charismatic than the others and could have really been the lead in this show or her own Mockingbird show.

This role is actually making me a fan of Palicki. I watched Friday Night Lights and thought she was certainly quite good on it, but I always felt like her performance got to be pretty overrated as the years went on. And then when she had a string of fairly crappy and unremarkable roles after the show, I felt a bit validated on my "overrated" stance. So I was never a fan.

But this show is kinda making me realize I never really gave her enough credit back in the day. She does have a natural charisma and screen presence, which was totally evident in her FNL days, but here it really jumps off the screen. She's great, and I'd love to see her in the movies, or carrying her own show.

She's definitely the only character I could see making the transition to the films so far. A great performance.

so, she's taskmaster too ?

^ In some ways I think that that is what she's being made out to be. They are definitely pushing this aspect of her character with everything that Hunter said. Not only is she effectively a person with photographic memory, they are making her into someone who can do anything really easy because of her "powers". Not sure I'm liking this or where I expect they'll go with it.

If they limited it to just fighting then it wouldn't be as bad, but obviously they aren't. Too many comments were made about this "mocking" ability of hers, even though it's not yet been defined as an ability.

Personally I would rather she not have any "powers", just like in the comics, but she needs to be (for whatever reason they define) able to beat characters like May in hand to hand combat. Mockingbird needs to be of Avengers quality, while May would miss the cut.

Bobbi also needs to have her codename "Mockingbird", otherwise she's just another agent in a slightly differently designed jumpsuit. And being of Avengers quality, she needs to be prepared to wear a more colourful outfit which May wouldn't think of doing.

I recall hearing a reference by her to Barton early in the episode. So she obviously knows Hawkeye already, but as to how well she knows him is another matter.

She didn't really show enough battle stave prowess this week. I was expecting something more awesome than last week's one. I'd like her to also join them together to make a bo.

I don't think the white would look very good...lighter grey like others have said MIGHT potentially look better.

But really...even without that I think her outfit really shows off her...um...asset.

Bobbi was so awesome in the last ep! So badass, and love the banter with Hunter.

And that Star Wars shirt :hrt:

Was she actually wearing that Star Wars shirt? I must've missed it. She should wear a T-shirt of the Avengers, since it's the 3rd biggest movie in history. :p

agreed, but the fight scenes have improved since series 1 -- obviously they need to keep improving

I dont know........if your a spy.....you should never have White on.....
So the people who wishes she has some white in there with the big sleeves to hide her batons.....dont think it would look right on T.V

Yeah people seem to be overlooking the "spy" aspect here. They're so obsessed with Mockingbird the superhero that they don't realize that she ISN'T really one yet. She's basically in a similar position to pre-Avengers BW, she hasn't made the "transition" yet so to speak. And a SPY isn't going to wear a bunch of white or other bright colors on their mission uniform, that'd be incredibly stupid on their part. If she ever makes the transition into the films, well maybe she'll get a modified costume (the Avengers seem to be constantly upgrading there's).

Right..even if she has a brief appearance in The Avengers... you go with the mask and different look....
and back as a SHIELD agent wearing the spy gear.....

Yeah I would go with that.

Yeah, she did. I noticed right away (because boobs.)

In my opinion her "mocking" ability has not come off as a power at all, it's just implied that she's one of those lucky individuals who is able to pick up languages/skills relatively easily. I mean, as far as I remember she has yet to watch someone doing and immediately be able to copy their whole style in the same way Taskmaster is able to: she's just quick on her feet, naturally skilled, and a fast learned.

Just to check against the general audience I went ahead and quizzed my mom, who is perfect for these kind of things since she's seen (most) of the MCU films and regularly watches AoS but has never picked up a comic book in her life and has no outside knowledge. So I asked:

Q: Do you know who Mockingbird is?

A: Who?

Q: Bobbi Morse? From Agents Of SHIELD?

A: Oh, the blonde girl who fights with May! Yes! I love her!

Q: Awesome. Does she have a power?

A: No, or at least not that we know of. Right now she's just like Black Widow, she's a really amazing fighter. I love that about her.

Q: What about... Do you remember when Lance - her exhusband - said that she picks things up really quickly?

A: Yes.

Q: Do you think that was meant to imply that she has the superpower immediately pick up skills or did they just mean that she learns things really quickly?

A: The latter.... She just picks up things and can copy people after watching her, right? *Uncertain* Why is it suppose to be her superpower?

Q: No, no, you're exactly right. Final question: three way fight between May, Mockingbird, and Black Widow. Who comes in first, second, and third?

A: *No Hesitation* May, Black Widow, Mockingbird.

Q: *To clarify because maybe she reversed it?* May first, Black Widow second and Mockingbird third?

A: Well, Mockingbird has those sticks but... No, I'm sticking to my answer.

Q: Wow, so you have May coming in first.

A: Oh, no question.

Q: I mean you'd but her above Black Widow? Mind if I ask why?

A: *A bit insulted I would even ask* Well first off have you ever seen May lose a fight? I mean, do you remember the last episode? That one guy with all those cool new weapons and the knifes and she took him down easy. No, May is definitely on top.

Q: Really... Where you would rank the other non-superpowered fighters?

A: *Thinks for a while* Well it's hard for me to think of all of them.

Q: Well, Hawkeye, Skye, Coulson, Ward...

A: Peggy.

Q: Yeah. Well all of them.

A: Hmm, well Hawkeye is above Skye, and she's at the bottom I would say, definitely. Then Coulson - physically he's got nothing, but he's smart, you know? Then Ward... Ward is good but he's nowhere near those women, you know? And Peggy.... It's hard to say since I haven't seen as much of her but from the short, I suspect Peggy is just above Ward. But none of them can touch those top three.

Q: May, Widow, and Mockingbird?

A: Exactly, those three are.... I mean Hawkeye, he is the other nonsuper powered Avenger, right? Well he is excellent at what he does don't get me wrong, he is amazingly skilled but it's a limited skill set. May, Black Widow, and Mockingbird? Those three are heads and tails above the rest of who you mentioned.

So in review, here is what my mom figured out just from the show: She didn't recognize her code name, but she knows Bobbi, knows she isn't superpowered but can learn skills easily, and that she specializes in using her batons. She knows that she is one of the top non-powered fighters in the MCU but for what I am going to say are fangirl reasons, my mom simply thinks May is the best thing ever. However, she gets that Mockingbird and Black Widow are about on level (and rates Hawkeye almost hilariously low especially considering she actually likes him quite a bit!)

I don't think they've said the codename yet, so I think it's understandable not to know it.
