It was great episode and that ending in the bar was fantastic. Wonderfully written and Bobbi nearly had me in tears. That said, whichever producer decided to write out two of the best characters permanently is an idiot. They couldn't just have had Bobbi and Hunter in a Russian prison for a couple of episodes? At least wait and see if the spin off actually got picked up.
I'm only on this season now, and I was aware the spin off series didn't get an order but I dod not know that some moron made this decision to loss the characters for good.
It really felt like they got word that the network wanted the totally unnecessary Mockingbird spin-off and just threw this episode together. The idea that the PM would punish the people who saved his life...and that SHIELD...who wasn't even officially involved...would then boot them off the team because Russia said so...is weak reasoning.
The backdoor pilot for the new show is the lowest-rated episode in the history of Agents of SHIELD. That SHOULD be a sign to ABC that maybe they need to adjust their plans.
It is entirely plausible. While a political leader might be glad to be alive, he still wants to hold onto power. The situation was a mess with high profile members of the government and army dead. And he would not want anyone to know there was almost a coup. He would be able use two rogue former spies to blame the mess on to any criticised him. Letting Bobbi and Hunter go free was his way of saying thank you.
And S.H.I.E.L.D. had to relent or Ellis would get dragged it as would the Inhumans.
It could have been explained better, but I think it was sufficient. The only real problem was as I said above - whatever dope decided it was a good idea to write the two out permanently.
Maybe the Avengers could recruit Bobbi?
EDIT: I also meant say that ratings are no indication of the quality of an episode or wether fans like it.
It is is about how many people watched it, isn't it? Or am I wrong? Is there some kind of voting system is in place?
