After Taxi, Tim Story doesn't deserve to direct anything again. :cwink:

Now wait a minuate, as many directors that have done poor films and not call them out to end their career isn't fair. I really can't get a bead on Story's directing. He seems to be someone their to just shoot the films. I believe Taxi was a FOX movie as well. I know FOX didn't allow the man to have a lot of control, but he probably needs to build his skills up. Their were some decent to good things in F4 2, but overall it wasn't a good movie. It was just entertaining and had good fx most of the time. Reed's effects were terriable, and galactus was not in the film. FOX and the the rest of the crew flat out LIED about Galactus. AICN was right with everything they said about this film.

My top pic for F4 still and always will be Luc Besson. Yeah their are some good others, but I'd like Besson. Miachael BAY would've done better. His work on Transformers look amazing.

It seems like a lot of people voting no do not post. Coem on guys, share the view!

He should, and he will. Fantastic Four major problem was the rushed approach to telling the story, as the plot was solid, and the dialogue was decent imho. The problem was the rush to get this thing finished in 1 1/2 hours. Well as may let the crew who's been handling things finish off the trilogy.

Glad to see the majority are supporting him. Anyone who has seen the movie, and still votes no has issues with either the FF, or Story, or has a hidden agenda. I told everyone who was calling for his head on a silver platter after the 1st one, give him another chance. He walked into a no win situation, and did the best with what he was given. This time he was in on it from the begining, and we have seen the results. A superior, well done, not perfect movie. 2 huge thumbs up for Payne and Story. :woot: Well done guys. Tweek it a bit more for the 3rd, and you'll have another winner.

I'd prefer that no more F4 films are made with FOX as the releasing studio. Don Payne did not do a good job. He just did ok, and also I saw that Mark Frost was credited. The same hacks as the first one were pretty much all onboard. i just didn't see this film being good. Thetrailers were good, but the overall film was slightly above mediocre. It was way better then the first.

That is why I am more leaning toward yes right now. He has improved, but I do expect many of the same problems in both movies to appear again.

Plus, with the third movies tending to be the worst (though I thought SM3 was better than SM1), I am not sure it will end up improved.

You'll find that with most polls, thats just how it is....and usually they don't post often on the forum either.

I'm not a huge fan of Tim Story but nothing pisses me off more than a different director taking the wheel.

I hate it that people do that. I try to post whenever I vote in any poll.

I think they should get John Singleton(Four Brothers, 2F2F, Boyz In The Hooz) or Doug Liman (Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Bourne Identity).

4 brothers is an urban fantastic four.

If they do a third one for sure, then bring him back... at least he's improving.
Right now it looks like its going in a good direction so I don't really want another director changing the entire thing and making it into another Last Stand.

I think Story saved the franchise. He was the one pushing for the surfer in this movie. Avi Arad wanted Puppet Master. If Puppet Master was in this movie, it would have killed the franchise.

I think Avi did a great job in the early part of Marvel's film success, with the first two X-men movies and the Spider-man movies, but it's good that he's gone now, because clearly from the failures of Hulk, Elektra, Daredevil, and spitting in the face of the fanbase for X3 he didn't understand the market. No offense to him, but he's a toymaker, and really lacked a working knowledge of hollywood.

Tim may not be the best director in the world, but he loves and understands these characters. There were just some awesome shots in this movie, that were iconic. Like the areal shot of Doom, when he steals the surfboard.

Tim did a good job and deserves to direct the 3rd installment.

i want the same cast and director. I don't like what i have been hearing about Spidey 4 Jake Gyllenhall or Joseph Gordon Levitt for Peter Parker? No way!

Gyllenhall looks nerdier than Maguire, if that's even possible.

The man Fox shoulg hire is James Cameron and give him what ever budget he wants. My guess is that everyone will be back with maybe Fox pulling a joint venture with Universal to have Namor be the top villian.

As much as I would love to see Namor on the big screen, and will soon enough......I don't want him anywhere near an F4 movie, I've had enough *****ing over love triangles to last me a lifetime....:o

Are you kidding? Did you ever read James Cameron's Spider-man scripment? Peter and Mary Jane doing bondage stuff, Spidey killing people, Spidey dropping the F-bomb left and right.

James Cameron should be no where near any of the Marvel franchises.

Though if he wanted a scene of Cyclops painting Famke in the nude well...I wouldn't object. :o

No, Story has made some effort this time, but it is evident he is not FF material.

i've seen FF2 in full two times now (i work at empire cinema) and all i can say is that i love the film.

yes agree with spider-fan930 that both films climaxes are needing a tweek but in ff2 its clear that Tims vision in directing is much more diverse than that of the original in that look at the use of the hand held camera at the military base, the arial camera angles as well as the Doom v Johnny and the fantasticar, that was sweet.

he should get another go to fully show his directing ability further and mabey FOX will loosen their grip, well lets hope!

If Story does another FF film or Surfer film, he will completely screw it up
like he has the previous ones.
- Superhero action films just isn't Tim Story's element.

He is more suited to comedy than action. He won't evolved the FF
Surfer, Dr Doom or
In fact it seem like the FF are more comedy/character geared than action-oriented.

yes, the Surfer appearance was easy because it was mimicked from
a previous special effects film ( Terminator 2:Judgment Day )
But neither FF members, Dr. Doom, ..and definitely not Galactus were
developed into uniqueness that they should have been.

Dr. Doom having " cosmic-energy" powers was stupid from
the beginning because you cant develop or gain anything of interest from it - It would have been far more interesting with Doom conveting
the FF's cosmic powers and seeking to steal/strip them of that cosmic powers but no ,.. Story had to screw that up .............

it would have been far more interesting, action-packed fighting sequences with the Surfer battling and easily defeating the entire FF, .... as well as a squadron full of military fighting jets, tanks, blackhawks, etc.
all which would have better impressively displayed the Surfer's powers and
abilities and put public demand even in those viewers who are not as familar with the Surfer,... en route to a suprisingly big audience for a possible Surfer solo film.
...........but no, Story had to screw that up as well.

the producers would do best to go another direction and give it
to someone who is far more familar with action/manipulating special effects sequennces than what Tim Story has displayed in the last two films. He's ruined this entire FF project.
i was sorely disappointed when the producers returned to Story to
have him do another FF film.

If the FF does their 50 million box office, it will be more because of
normally huge marvel fan base than the overrall world wide viewers having
general public interest in it.

Story just cannot bring FF to that level of success and demand.

i hope the Story torture and failures ends here and we can begin anew
with a far more capable director.

:ff:
