Agatha Agatha All Along on Disney+

I was about to ask where The Penguin was. I forgot it's on HBO now instead of just a Max original. But yikes it lost out to LOTR.

Doesn't Amazon Prime have a lot more subscribers than Disney+?

I'm not particularly sure how to read the numbers and if its an objectively "good" number for Agatha but at least it seems to be going in the right direction and will hopefully increase more as Halloween gets closer.

Not surprised. The show looks like if ABC Studios is still doing serialized shows (Once Upon a Time, Agents of Shield) for ABC. It doesn't look theaterical compare to the best shot MCU shows. The first few minutes of the 1st episode looked superb, but then it suddenly looked TV budget when they entered that house which led to where the characters are right now. They should have filmed in more outdoor locations.

Anyway, its a good thing there's only 3 weeks left for this. Because the episodes aren't doing much to me, they feel a bit dragging and they are obviously saving the big reveals, I'm assuming for the final 2 episodes. Another MCU show that would have been better as a 2 hour film.

Marvel should really stop making TV. Feige doesn't know what he's doing in this medium. He only just realised the value of having a showrunner, lol.

They have FX under their umbrella, it's pretty much passed HBO as the premier highbrow producer of TV and nobody is better in the industry than Landgraf ATM. One Marvel project every 2-3 years would have MUCH more impact for genuine interest/rating/the characters, over multiple mid MCU shows on Disney plus yearly.

I would love it if they would just make movies. Plus the more of these shows come out, the more I forget what I've seen in the previous shows. The shows alsofeel less special, everytime a new one comes out.

They already created "divisions" within Marvel Studios - Marvel Television and Marvel Animation. I think it's safe to say Kevin Feige isn't completely hands on with the projects for those 2 divisions, and someone else is overseeing them full time. But still...

If Daredevil Born Again is a success, I doubt that the Marvel television train stops anytime soon.

Different circumstances since you've got the built-in fanbase and expectations from the Netflix shows, but no doubt that would be seen as a win for Marvel apparently retooling the series and, as a result, incentivize them to do more, whether it's shows in general or more mature projects.

I'm excited for DD though I'm not expecting the show to be great because the studio was willing to tear it down initially for an obviously much worse concept by comparison. I'm glad they realised that misstep.

After DD I don't see any new projects upcoming/announced that people are genuinely excited about en masse and that gets people's expectations elevated to 2019 levels. At least they weren't too far along with Armour Wars so they could can that likely dud.

Watched the first 5 episodes over the weekend and i enjoyed the series so far, i honestly dont know much about Agatha Harkness, as my marvel fandom is with Iron Man and the Avengers, i do like Moon Knight, so went in to this with an open mind and frankly havent been disappointed, it got off to a slow start but overall i enjoy the show and looking forward to episode 6 this week

Probably my favorite episode last night. Loved getting the backstory on Billy and it’s great to see full queer representation in a Marvel show. This show has been pretty good on the front overall but I’m glad that they didn’t just suddenly shy away from two gay characters kissing or being affectionate like they usually do. YouTuber Jessie Gender also speculated that the story may have been a bit of a trans allegory too, which is an interesting read. Also, epic cameo by a certain actor, made even funnier since he was also in a show that Agatha parodied this season.

The only thing I don’t get is why Billy (apparently) killed Jennifer and Lilia? I’m guessing they aren’t really dead but it’s just strange that he drowned them in the swamp, especially after he realized that he could control them (so for practical reasons, better to keep them around) and he was so angry at Agatha for (possibly inadvertently) killing Alice. My theory is that he actually didn’t kill them but sent them back to Earth or incapacitated them in some way so that Agatha couldn’t kill them too. Might be wrong though since it also seems like whatever magic Wanda and by extension Billy control has an evil nature that ultimately consumes you no matter how “good” you try to be.

Yeah I mean, the mid-season trailer made it clear they're not dead. Your theory makes a lot of sense. And I don't think Wanda or Billy's magic is inherently evil. It was the Darkhold that corrupted Wanda, not her natural magical abilities.

And which cameo are you talking about? I'm blanking atm...

Also, I wonder what the deal might be with Tommy.
He doesn't have magical abilities, so could he have body hopped like Billy did? Or is he just floating in the aether, and Billy will get his desire on the road, with Tommy getting put into a body in the finale?

on the mid season trailer im hoping its wanda voice saying "in the end all roads lead to me." cause i know lizzies voice very well so hoping shes coming back. i know they doing solo scarlet witch solo movie project. i cant wait for next week episode 6

I know it’s going down the rabbit hole, but Billy was 10 at the end of WandaVision right? So his ten year old self was transferred into William’s 13 year old body. So is Billy 13 now or 16?

That’s a good point, I didn’t think of that.
Also a boy in the vicinity just happened to have died right at that moment so he was able to hop into his body. That seemed like a crucial thing, that William’s spirit left his body and Billy’s entered right at that moment. Who knows if Tommy had something like that.

Just realised something. If Lilia hadn’t put the sigil on William, would Wanda have been able to find him? Did Lilia cause the events of MoM? :ninja:

I assume this is good or else they wouldn't have bothered to publicise it? Even if it's global audience.

It's always a good sign when shows improve on their premiere numbers I suppose.

I have no idea what good numbers for streaming is anymore. I'm assuming it's low enough that openly gay teenage characters kissing on screen hasn't been a huge controversy, but I don't know what numbers they need to justify the show (technically, they just need people to subscribe, it doesn't matter if they watch a single show, but I don't know how you measure that).

The show is good quality, so I hope they see that. That being said, the show is a one-off. Whether it's successful or not, they're not likely to give it a second season. The only concern would be whether low numbers affect other shows. But I think Disney is too invested to stop making Marvel shows regardless.

I was bored watching the last episode (ep7). I don't care about the character to keep me interested. Its a good thing it ends next week so I can finally remove it from my watchlist.

I guess if it had flopped it might have affected VisionQuest since that's the final of the "West View trilogy" although probably not since it's already in pre production and features much bigger characters than Agatha. I suspect the biggest affect would be on Jac Schaeffer's future with Marvel. which would now seem to be secure.
