Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - 3x07 - "Chaos Theory" - Discussion Thread

I hate hate HATE that
Rosalind is a bad guy now...was hoping she'd just turn out to be a normal good guy.
Which would've stayed an interesting dynamic for the show.

Do we really know all the details of the guy Ward was talking to yet?

I mean, he may only be another Hydra-like sleeper posing as a VIP that Rosalind is acquainted with professionally. Just because he's sitting with Ward behind her back doesn't automatically mean she knows his true motives and is working with him for nefarious purposes.

I can't be the only person who was reminded of BATMAN: THE LONG HALLOWEEN and that Andrew/Lash was basically Gilda Dent: Kill the bad guys so Melinda would have more free time for him. (Whether or not Gilda Dent was Holiday is another matters, according to Jeph Loeb.)

Also, I am wondering if what Andrew said and did will make May less certain about killing Ward. Would killing Ward be just as bad as Lash killing various Inhumans?

"We're talking about Grant Ward, May! Killing him would benefit the world!"
"And Andrew said the exact same thing. Repeatedly."
"You can't compare that."
"I pretty much have to."

He was a member of the World Security Council in Avengers...but was not there for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. It is reasonable to assume that he is a VERY high ranking governmental organization type person that wasn't outed in the fall of SHIELD. Maybe he is Hydra and runs whatever the ATCU really is.

I also agree that "Rosalind is evil and has been working for Malick/HYDRA all along" seems like pretty much the easiest/most cliché way that they could go. Plus it ruins her fun dynamic with Coulson AND she's just flat-out more interesting as a person who has good intentions as well, but a different perspective on things and different methods.

Hopefully, it's not that cheap. Maybe she doesn't know who Malick really is/is affiliated with or something.

Also, poor Coulson. First sex that he's had in years, and then this happens.

What if Coulson is actually using Rosalind to get to Hydra.

Rosalind appears to be working Gideon who in turn is working Rosalind and Gideon is playing Ward while Ward is trying to play Coulson. Meanwhile Coulson is being played by Fury while Fury continues to work the Avengers while Tony is trying to play Steve. Coulson is attempting to play the Inhumans while we think Will is trying to work Jemma who is toying with Fitz.

That broke my mind reading it over on IMDB.

I'm almost positive that Rosalind is NOT Hydra.

I think there's another player in the mix... What was Fitz saying about that symbol again?

That it's some side organization that sent the team of astronauts not NASA - we know it is the League of The English Gentlemen , they don't yet

Bummer if Rosalind turns out to really be a villain, especially for Coulson.

The dude can't catch a break. First he gets a hand job, courtesy of Mac and the Inhumans's Crystals, and now he's being potentially screwed by Rosalind.

I cant beleive they wrapped up the Lash plotline so quickly. Yeah they left it open to re-explore later on but they ended things in a way here that they never have to. I expected it all to be dragged out longer

So Struckers in the coma ward? we know people never return from there.. maybe he is roomies with Agent Blake who is probably in a coma for 2 years now..

I love that the show didnt drag its feet with things. Last week we find out who Slash is, and this week the team finds out. This week we find out Rosalind might be Hydra, and next week we might know for sure.

I was afraid Mey was going to try to hide Andrew's secret from Phil and the team. It would have been out of character and stupid.

I'd say the ATCU is secretly controlled and manipulated by Gideon Malick's HYDRA branch the same way the old S.H.I.E.L.D. was manipulated by Alexander Pierce, Mitchell Carson, Jasper Sitwell, John Garrett, and other HYDRA's double agents in S.H.I.E.L.D. Rosalind Price doesn't know where Malick's true loyalty lies, just like Fury didn't know the truth behind Project Insight until it was almost too late.

Best episode thus far.

I think Price is being used by Gideon Malick's character, and she'll have her loyalities tested, but in the end side with Coulson and the gang.

After this episode and discovery of a secret group through the ages I'm thinking that the group might be the Shadow Council and that the figure on the planet Gemma was on is some take on the Abyss.

I hope Malick and Rosalind are part of The Secret Empire. They could set them up as the new big bad group on the show.

Hydra is getting a little old.

I honestly hope it's bigger than that and they're actually apart of the Ten Rings, which Marvel has completely on the back burner for now. At least I think Gideon is, I'm still not sure about Rosalind, like yes she works for Gideon , but I don't think she knows he's HYDRA or whatever shadow group he works for.

Also the close proximity between Project Spotlight and Insight can't be overlooked, I doubt they'll be going with a "HYDRA infiltrated you" plot again as that event is still fresh in people's mind with Ward around and TWS being damn near immortalized as the best MCU film.

I think Ten Rings would be the best way to go, it'd explain why Gideon wasn't exposed compared to his HYDRA cohorts, because he was actually a double agent for another organization.

Also can you imagine having a new villain lurking in the shadows pulling the strings being a menace with just name like back in season 1 but this time instead of The Clairvoyant it's the Real Mandarin referred to in "All Hail the King"?

The potential is endless.

Somone give Mack his damn shotgun axe already.

So apparently, Andrew was never in danger when Strucker & co. cornered him in the deli, if May's bullets couldn't penetrate his skin in human form, he was never in danger, they just triggered his instincts to Lash out.

I don't know much about Lash, so can he control his urge to Lash, or is there different degrees where he can control his urge, while other degree is beyond his control?

In the comics Lash is just Lash, he doesn't have the ability to turn into a human. This was referenced in this episode with Lincoln telling the team that the turning back was temporary as his body adjusted to the effects Terragenisis had on him. So he would eventually just be Lash, who's mad at everybody. I believe that the reason he had some control, i.e. hearing May's reasoning and being able to control his urges to not harm Daisy was a part of Andrew's mind overwhelming Lash's urge. But eventually that would vanish and he would be pure rage against anyone in his way.
