Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - 3x10 - "Maveth" - Discussion Thread

How does "It" control the planet, ie. expand the gorge, creates the dust storms, etc.? Is that part of his Inhuman powers? Why could he not use those powers to stop Coulson and Fitz from leaving and to win the fight against Fitz?

So uh the big bad is a goa'uld? Didnt know they was doing a stargate crossover.:o Someone call SG1 so they can put this ****er down for good.

On another note, glad Perfect Astronaut Hunk is dead.

Also glad Coulson killed Ward instead of holding back.

Not happy that a goa'uld is now wearing his meat suit. If the actor plays this bad guy differently than Ward Ill be fine with it, but if its just going to be another season of Ward...no thank you.

Uh yeah. This thing is definitely The Hive. Honestly, didn't know it existed til you guys brought it up.

It's a fairly modern character. Didn't exist until Secret Warriors, I think.

since "It" is a slug, I am guessing when we saw him atacking simmons he was using someone's body

maybe that someon was an inhuman and the planet control thing is that dead inhuman's powers ?!

I absolutely despise the idea of Ward being "taken over" by the entity thing. The great thing about Ward is his prior relationship with the team. Having the same actor play a different character who happens to inhabit the same body would ruin it for me. I'm fine if he gets powers from it or whatever...I just want his mind to still be that of Grant Ward.

Agreed! This sucks.

Kudos to those who predicted this would happen. I thought so to, but hoped otherwise. Maybe if...

Coulson hadn't of killed him. And why did he leave his bionic hand behind? Dumb move!

So there are 9 cities abandoned on Maveth and 9 worlds on the World Tree... perhaps the 9 cities were once a place where all 9 civilizations could congregate.

I was wondering if we were going to get a Planet Of The Apes moment.

Also, in response to others, Possessed Will still had the memories of Real Will. So it will be really cool to see if Possessed Ward still has his feelings of hate and betrayal for Coulson and the rest of the team.

Welcome to the forum.

Just watched the episode. It was decent. I was both ecstatic and sad when Ward died. He's been a great villain, and easily one of the best things about AoS. Coulson crushing his chest was metal as hell.

Seeing him be resurrected 30 seconds later killed any feelings I had on the matter, though. I think that reveal happened way too quick. They should have just ended that scene with the shot of someone holding Coulson's bionic hand if they had to do a tease at all.

And yeah, I'm sure we'll still have "Ward"; he'll just have additional powers/motivation now. The Other Will still had Will's memories and personality, so it makes sense that Other Ward will as well.

I hope you're right. I hate the thought of losing Ward completely. He's my current favorite villain. If he is to return resurrected as the ancient alien freako monster, it's better than no Ward at all.

Not sure if this is the real Brett Dalton, but...

That Twitter account is the actual Brett Dalton. ;)

I'm curious to see how Jemma will cope with the fact that she's basically responsible for the death of a dozen inhumans ...

Bet Daisy and especially Lincoln won't be too happy about that ...

It's not the first time that she fatally screwed up ... remember Bakshi ?

Jemma's situation kinda parallels Coulson's in that the call they made (former letting Andrew/Lash free; latter killing Ward, giving It a new host) might've been "right" to them at the moment, but are ending up to be much worse.

At least Ward won't be blathering about how mean his family was to him any longer.

Now all he wants is... BRAINS! :ghost:

Agreed

However, Jemma's mistake might bring the wrath of Lincoln and maybe even Daisy ... And create a gap within Shield ... Sound familiar ?

Maybe it's just me but calling that "Inhuman" as "It" reminds me of a character of the same name in this classic TV Series:

I hear ya. I really like Ward too. Which is one of the few times I've done a complete 180 with feelings in a character. I hated Ward in season 1 when he was a good guy. Just a bad character. But him becoming the villain with better writing and acting completely changed my view of him.

That is indeed Brett Dalton (verified account and all). He's notorious for being punny :oldrazz:

There are some things I don't get.

For example, how did the space slug crawl to Wards body, get him on his feet and through the portal in a matter of seconds? Or how did Coulson kill Ward? He just put his hand on his chest. He has no super strength to crush his rib cage or something. Only his hand si robotic, not the arm, so he is probably stronger from wrist to fingertips, but that's it.

But overall it was a good episode, although not the best of the season, I expected a little bit more after the talk about Winter Soldier-level twist. On the other hand I'm so engaged with the characters, that I would forgive them many more weaker moments than they have.

His bionic arm has been shown to have super strength.

Shown probably, but it doesn't make much sense. One superstrong arm just would not work. It would push him away with the same strength it pushes forward.
But it's a marvel show and it's cool, so I'm gonna shut up and look forward to spring episodes. :)

Don't try to apply real world physics to this. Think about Tony Stark flying with a single gauntlet... It would break his arm.

Or in the Avengers, when Black Widow grabs a flying chitauri platform without losing a limb.

Just enjoy the show.

Yeah I wasn't following the timeline at all- like Daisy said that's it for the portal but it seemed like they still had another 5 minutes left. Then it seemed like Fitz and Coulson wouldn't make it on time. Didn't seem like they and Mac and Daisy would get out. No idea how Ward/Death got out.

The hand crushing Ward? That seemed fine to me. Lol

I think some of the stuff to remember about the timing is that (most likely) at least some of the events in the various locations are happening concurrently with what the other characters are doing elsewhere. So the timing is overlapping more than it appears.

Quite convenient for everyone that Will is dead shortly after he was introduced.
