Mng-na was a badass when she took out that guy towards the end.

Love the flying car!

I would say this was a solid series opener. Clearly, this show has a lot of potential to stand on its own as well as being a great complement to future Marvel movies. Also, I wonder what the deal is with Coluson's death, Maria and that other guy were being cryptic. Maybe he really did die and this is just a clone??!!! It's funny that none of the Avengers are level 7 and don't know he is alive. I mean they saved New York and the world, I think they deserve to know, expecially Tony as he was the most torn up about his death.

I really enjoyed it. I like the tone of the show, which fits with what Marvel has been doing.

He did die imo, and what synthetized but he doesnt know :woot:

I love this show!! Pure awesomeness!! I really loved how the effects were up to movie standards, it really looked fantastic. Super excited to watch this every week and get my weekly dose of the Marvel universe!!

Maybe they could make Skye girl Jennifer Walters Hulk's cousin or introduce Jennifer Walters on the show if She-Hulk ever comes to be.

Maybe they could make new girl Jennifer Walters Hulk's cousin or introduce Jennifer Walters on the show if She-Hulk ever comes to be.

I wouldn't want to lose the lawyer angle with Jen, though. Especially because if Marvel keeps on the TV rout they can spin her off into a sic-fi lawyer dramedy and that would be boss as hell.

Skye and Ward, just tattoo "future couple" to their foreheads. I do think that she may turn out to be an established Marvel character. They're keeping her identity a secret for a reason.

I give it a 7. It has potential. A lot of the pilot was really cliche. Whedon falls into many traps that he falls into as a writer, which he thankfully avoided with The Avengers. That said, he isn't show runner so I'm guessing that it will be less Whedon-ish as the show progresses. Not that Whedon-ish is a bad thing, but sometimes it is overkill. Furthermore, the ending was incredibly cheesey.

My biggest complaint is about the characters. They could just as easily be the cast of NCIS, or CSI or Criminal Minds or any other procedural. It is a really cliche group. Hopefully they will get fleshed out a bit.

There is potential. It is too early to judge, IMO. I am intrigued by the mystery surrounding Colson's resurrection, but that will only keep me watching for so long.

My final thought is that the show needs to be careful and tread lightly with The Avengers references. Every scene there was an Avengers reference and it reached the point where it felt like the actors were winking at the audience and saying, "GET IT!?!?! WE'RE A SPINOFF OF THE MOVIE!!! EHHH!?!?! EHHHHH!?!?!" The show needs to stand on its own, not fall back on that so often. If it keeps doing it, it will reach the point where the audience resents the lack of presence of Iron Man, the Hulk, etc.

What I liked:
- Coulson's dynamic with Maria, Ward, and Skye.
- J. August Richards was perfect in his part. Very underrated actor.
- The humor
- Agent Ward, despite being a badass, getting insulted by Skye, betrayed by Coulson, and annoyed by Fitz-Simmons.. he didn't snap under the strain. I really like this character.
- Skye was great. Her fangirl moments were more amusing than annoying (it helped that the other characters were annoyed). She may be smart, but she's not nerdy and can look after herself.
- Melinda May was badass. I look forward to seeing her history with Coulson.
- Maria Hill and Sheppard Book. Also them discussing Coulson
- the bus
- the cinematography, direction, writing, and special effects were all amazing. It felt like watching a movie.
- the references to the MCU, the comics, etc.
-Mike and Coulson talking about the ordinary man's place in a post-Avengers world.

What I didn't like:
- Fitz-Simmons were very annoying. I didn't find them entertaining at all. Hopefully that changes when they get some development.

What I really like about Joss Whedon's shows (well, at least Buffy and Angel, because his other shows didn't last that long) is that he's really good at subverting our expectations on how the romantic subplots will go. It's a little revolutionary that Willow and Xander had all of this romantic tension between them, but ultimately they both started dating other people and actually got over their feelings for each other.

I really enjoyed the show, we learned that Coulson is a LMD, and I suspect the people behind things is AIM, they were the only ones who had Extremis.
Loved seeing Whedon alums, this looks like a fun series, looking forward to next week.

Cliche as the Agents may be, there's a charm about the group that makes them all really likable.

This was AMAZING! All the nods, all the references, all the action, all the MARVEL! 10/10

Plus Howard Stark reference -- is that the EXACT same car or just tech?

Great pilot ep, especially for us fanboys. When the Peterson character started climbing on the walls with that BGM I got goosebumps, like right there I felt this is the Marvel Universe.

I'd give the episode a 7 as a pilot, and bump it up to 8 for Marvel faboyism.

It's a Jim Steranko's Agents of SHIELD comic reference. :o

Most likely.

They already established in The Avengers that they exist, so it'd make sense.

They didn't establish that they exist so much as reference them in a joke. I mean, they totally could pick up on it but I wouldn't call it them establishing it.

Loved the pilot, but like all Whedon pilots, it had it's kinks that will almost certainly be worked out as everyone finds their footing. The pilots are almost always some of the weakest episodes of his series. But still, I'd say this was easily better than the pilots to all of his shows except for Firefly, so that's a damn good start, imo! 7.5/10.

I already like this FAR more than Arrow, so that's a bonus. Finally a comic-book superhero(-ey) show that I won't be embarrassed to have on when I have company over, lol.
