It just occurred to me that Skye wiped the black guys name and record...he doesn't exist as far as records are concerned. He needs a new name...so maybe he IS a lower-tiered character from the comics?

Boy...they got some fine looking women on this team.

Oh and yes, I enjoyed the pilot. Loved all the tie-ins to the MCU. Extremis being the cause of everything was a great touch.

The idea seems to be that this Project Centipede is taking bits of Captain America, The Hulk and Extremis with Chitauri tech...so trying to create a mish-mash ultimate super powered person (I also hear that Project Centipede is planning to capture all of the heroes and stitch their mouths to each others anuses).

As far as the women go...man...I see hot women all the time...the actress playing Skye was pretty bad at doing the acting part of her job.

There's nothing "old school" about the usual cheap ABC look or at least its not an aesthetic based on nostalgia, just the standard issue staleness of a crap network.

It did have that 90s Lois and Clark feel to it. And I concur about the hotness of the women on the show. The pilot may have been iffy, but Ming Na is so lovely and i've yet to see Colbie Smoulders look bad in anything she's been in, though I couldn't help think of Robyn in this weeks episode of How I Met your mother...

Yeah, man. I shocked when I read it cost $12 million. That camera made it looks so cheap.

I liked the pilot. It was fun, but half the team should go. I really don't care about them.

Fine perhaps that's true but my original post was not even about that,Some people are saying the episode or ending was corny&cheesy but it wasn't anything worse than in the MCU so far,It's a TV show connected to marvel comics and movies!

Was rewatching the episode and i spotted this

Cool, hope we see some other Stark Industries labels. I also like to imagine that the company Mike Peterson worked for was Roxxon related. And for some reason it didn't click with me during the airing that the lady Peterson went and visited and ordered the hit on him was the same lady from he saved from the exploding building.

And, I get the feeling that the truth behind Coulson's death and the mystery of the season is a lot bigger than we're realizing. For one thing, did anyone realize we were never told exactly why Coulson is gathering this team? Yeah, he passed it off as him needing to do something after being on ice for so long....but yeah right, there's obviously more to it and more going on than they're letting on right now. There's a reason Coulson put together a team of rookies, and like every character in the show it (besides Fitz/Simmons it seems anyway) there's more the Coulson than meets the eye in this.

It was ok. Didn't blow my mind or anything. But I will continue to watch it.

It really feels like if Whedon did the Jenny Shepard era of NCIS and set it in the MCU. Still need to get used to their DiNozzo (Ward), though.

I wasnt blown away,i thought a lot of it was cliched and been there done that.
There are a few things that will get me to come back, the back stories of half the agents
What's the "true" story behind Coulson's resurrection.
Will any of the canon Marvel characters make an appearance.

maybe we need a easter eggs thread for this series?

Just finished seeing the pilot. My thoughts:

-Gregg is the heart of this thing for sure. Coulson commanded your attention whenever he was on screen. The character is a hero in his own right, and I think the show looks to be a place to spotlight all the stuff fans of Gregg have come to enjoy about him.

-The start, with the obvious back lot scene with Mike's rescue was shaky, but then the rest of the eps production values were strong so my worries that it would look cheap were assuaged.

-I don't see the humor hurting the story or characters at all. That being said, I found the humor was more "oh, that's cute" than belly laugh level.

-Ward was a bit of a side of beef. Coulson is dry and stoic too but there is also charm and charisma and likeability inherent in Gregg's performance. Ward? Not so much. I did'nt hate him though. It's a first ep. There will be room to grow.

-Skye... Sorry, but she, actress and character may be a total dealbreaker for me. It's Laurel on ARROW all over again. She gets no slack for being hot from me. I hope that things progress further on all fronts with her but as of NOW, yeah for me she is the truly weak link here. Sorry, that's how I see it.

If I had to give this a BS grade of some kind? A solid... B PLUS? Yeah. I will stick it out for 6 episodes to see if it grabs me for the long haul. It's good, but it could be better, but it's far, far from bad.

I also saw the pilot, it was decent, I'm giving it an 8.75/10. Seeing it's just the pilot, I wouldn't expect all of them to be really fully fleshed out as the series progresses. I do agree that Skye's character is the one that needs the most development as she's the newbie to this established team and that we're more likely to relate to her most as we're newbies too. Hopefully she gets a larger role in future missions. The tone, action and witty humor which carries on from the Avengers really resonates strongly here really sold it for me. Can't wait to see more, especially on what happened with Coulson, seeing there's a hint of something larger at work here.

On another note... Who dies first? :p

Decent enough first episode. Plenty they can build on. I'm not sure if I would say it was cheap looking but it does have that sort of bland studio backlot look in some scenes.

I also thought he was going to be Luke Cage and I have the same worry that we won't see any small tiered heroes or villains in this series.

I must say that the new girl has some damn nice thighs.

Graviton is confirmed for Ep. 3. That's the first genuine connection to the comics that I've found, although there might be some links, easter eggs and wink-n-nods in Ep. 2 next week.

Gave it an 8.......good intro to what this team is about......love all the tie ins to the Marvel Universe.....and most of the dialogue, and the humor......"Well, Thor's not actually a god."....."You haven't stood near his arms.":)

Gotta say.... and not to cause a thread war..... so far, on film, Marvel delivers and DC disappoints.
Marvel clearly unabashedly embraces the fantastic nature of the superhero, while DC seems to be constantly appologizing for that nature by over rationalizing it's existance.

I'm surprised so many didn't know this would look cheap, i mean, it was all in the trailers, teasers, and even the posters, as well as the characters and events seeming cliché, it was there from point one, difference is that then when somebody pointed that out other posters would ignore him.

Pilot was ok, i give it a 6. Just hope the Season Picks up and Joss Whedon can give us some better stories and moments.

after watching the first episode, I decided to give it a pass. If this show gets a second season maybe I'll watch it again but for now the show is kinda meh for me.

I DEFINITELY wish that these random weekly heroes and villains were comic book characters. There is a practically endless number of options to choose from, trow us a bone. I'm not saying that they all have to end up in movies...but maybe they can be brought in for a season finale big battle.

There's only one episode so far. And we already know that a major Avengers villain is going to be a character in episode three (albeit probably before he gets his powers).

While this wasn't the home run I was looking for, it was a solid effort. Just hoping they can improve the look of the show some. At times it was a little too back lot looking, I'm not saying they need to go all dark and mysterious but some more on location stuff would be good.

Actual on-location shooting in Paris was "too back lot"?

And LA was mostly on location as well. The opening "origin story" was about the only "back lot" I saw, other than soundstage interiors.

And next week's episode is set largely in Peru.

I'm not too keen on numerical ratings, but if I have to give it something, it would be a generous 6. Gregg's performance was outstanding, but outside of that, the show is very mediocre in nearly every regard. Surprising when you consider Whedon's pedigree. I'll keep watching due to the MCU connections, but this is far from what I'd consider must see TV.

Not bad by any means, but not particularly good either. Mediocre is definitely the word.

They made Asgardians aliens who use magic highly advanced tech. DC keeps it real and faithful.
