Anyone think tobias might be the mcu version of Ghost? The gas mask somewhat similar powers, and constant wordage of "Ghost" seemed to certainly be nods at him

Oh God I hope so, I haven't seen the episode but base on your reactions I guess it's quite good.

okay, finished the episode. turned out it was better than the start suggested. I'd give it a 7/10, could have been 8/10 if they hadn't used all these religious God nonsense. That was terrible. Grown up persons believing in imaginary friends. FitzSimmons on the other hand were absolutely great in that episode.

probably the 2nd worst episode of the season after episode 2 for me.

Coulson said 616 :woot:

It's the callsign of the Bus, May mentioned it in a previous ep.

I thought this one was pretty decent. Fitz's girlish scream when his own broom trap loomed out of the closet was the highlight. :woot:

religious God nonsense. That was terrible. Grown up persons believing in imaginary friends.

Is this really necessary?

Please try not to do this in the future. The last thing we want in any Marvel/DC thread is to add a religious/atheist argument.

The cult lead by a gifted person that May stopped made me think of Purple Man.

A sort of semi-bottle episode with a limited cast and most of the action occurring in a confined space. Good episode, but wasn't as good as the previous Asgard-themed episode (The Well). Thankfully the show in general and the writing in particular is way stronger than it started off.

On the flip-side, the slow-burn reveal of the characters' backstories is getting a little tiresome. I get the mystery surrounding Coulson, since that is something of a central hook of the series. However, with Ward during the previous episode and May during this one, their respective backstories could have been spelled out a little clearer. I mean, in both cases, we get peeks into their backgrounds, but nothing that would concretely tie into the Ward and May we know. Also, why not give us the name of the gifted whose "followers" May went after? I mean, cm'mon Coul, you couldn't namedrop a lil' Taskmaster here? :)

I'm quite happy with the quality of the recent episodes, but I think things can be planned out a little better with respect to world building and MCU-connective-tissue. I mean, they have a world of oddity to mine here. Exploration of said world could be a a little deeper rather than just surface level references and guarded semi-explanations. In the words of philosopher/sage/sociopath Walter White, "full measures!"

I’m surprised nobody has brought up the May is Sky’s Mother/Mother’s Murderer after she gave the whole “Give the girl up” speech and then said it was what Coulson said to her.

I'm failing to see the connection here. I thought she was referring to giving up what she used to be instead of holding on. I didn't think there was actually a girl that she herself had to give up or anything.

I think Whiskey already mentioned this but the Bus' callsign has been SHIELD 616 since the 2nd episode, so that particular easter egg isn't terribly new :cwink:
Coulson also called the sleep dart that May fired at the "gifted" a "Xavier device," didn't he?

Oh, and "new agent" in the next episode: you don't say... :cwink:
I didn't think he did, wasn't she using the night-night gun? I acknowledge I need to rewatch it but I thought the only thing Coulson mentioned was the drug that the dart uses (dendrotoxin or something like that)

Anywho... all in all, loved the episode - we got to learn a bit more about May, I like that this episode still tied in a little with TDW (with the team speculating that the facility may have been trying to recreate the portals that affected London during the Convergence) but was still it's own story. I loved the effects on Tobias' flitting in and out. Most of all, I loved that in the final scene, we got a glimpse of what the old May was like (and like someone else said, the awesome thing is - perhaps other than Coulson - no one is going to suspect her and Fitz is likely to go on believing that Skye, Ward or Simmons is lying to him *lol*)

They're bringing back J. August Richards' character? Really?

Yep. Dec. 10, on "The Bridge."

The cult lead by a gifted person that May stopped made me think of Purple Man.

Made me think of David Koresh.
I think Bahrain is supposed to be AOS' version of the Waco disaster.

I don't think so. A "ghost in the machine" cyberspace entity doesn't equate with a guy whose particle accelerator zapped him to another world and trapped him in between them.

I’m surprised nobody has brought up the May is Sky’s Mother/Mother’s Murderer after she gave the whole “Give the girl up” speech and then said it was what Coulson said to her.

Coulson's speech was a bull**** pep talk he gave May after the Bahrain incident. May just ripped it off and used it on Tobias, because she thought it would be as effective on him as it had been on her. The "give the girl up" thing is literal, telling Tobias to quit stalking Hannah, and likely has no reference to anything May experienced at Bahrain.

Looks like in Episode 10, we will see the return of that Extremis guy from Episode 1.

They mentioned May saved a young girl during the "Cavalry" incident. I'm betting that young girl was Skye and May was either unable to save her parents or forced to kill them to save the rest of the innocents. Then it was May who dropped Skye off at the orphanage. Hence all the forced Skye/May tension in this episode.

I think at the very least, they were hinting towards this. Liek the stuff they've done re: coulson/tahiti.

So let's make sure I've got this straight...

- Particle Accelerator experiments with opening extra-dimensional gateways a la TDW.
- Creepy-Dude falls in love with Quality Manager Hannah, and reports a non-existent error so she will visit him.
- Somehow, a real accident happens (I'm a bit confused on this) trapping Creepy-Dude between Earth (Midgard) and either Hel and/or Muspelheim. Three others are killed.
- Not-quite-dead Creepy-Dude continues returning to Earth to "protect" Hannah.

He caused the accident to get more attention, he loosened some bolts..or at least that was his plan

No, he didn't say Xavier device. and the new Agent is Mike Peterson

Ummm it's not nonsense, it's realistic. millions of adults believe in god so how is that nonsense? Also they live in a world with aliens and gods and super humans so why not? Just because you don't believe in god doesn't mean it's stupid for a show to talk about him.

P.S. And before you say anything, I'm athiest. I just happen to have common sense though

Liked the Episode. And once again didn't have an issue with the cast or humor. They were funny childish, not stupid childish. They need to continue this route. None of that stupid asking for snacks, while you're supposed to keep radio silence.

Liked the episode...
At first when they kept repeating no documented telekinetics exist...i kept saying ..."What about Jean Grey.".....then realized Marvel sold the rights, and probably cannot mention the name. Eagerly await the day when Marvel gets the rights back for all there heroes!

Just a random thought....wouldn't it be nice if Tobias being "lost" in another dimension is an excuse/reason to feature Dr. Strange on the show....perhaps on a arrest/capture Tobias mission?

May and Coulson were, obviously, both present for that event, so they should be fully aware of what happened. When Coulson is looking over the files about Skye's parents, he asks May to help him uncover whatever happened. If May were the one to take Skye in and Coulson was present there would be no reason for them to look into it; it wouldn't be a mystery at all.

If they did go that route or reveal Coulson or May as Skye's parent, they'd better have a good explanation for why they had to pull files and use multiple episodes to figure it out.

If there doesn't turn out to be a Coulson/May/Skye connection a lot of people are going to be disappointed .
