Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents of SHIELD - 3x01 - "Laws of Nature" - Discussion Thread

Maybe Simmons was transported to the Negative Zone & will find Captain Marvel.

With Simmons being gone for months now, I'm wondering how she's survived on that planet for so long, considering she didn't bring any food or supplies with her. I'm beginning to think that their may be some kind of time dilation involved in being transported or she's been real resourceful in finding food.

I feel like she was actually held captive at some point.

now a bit of interesting info, מות is the root for the hebrew word death =מוות (ma`vet), however when you read a little bit more into it.. מות AKA Motת was a Canaan god, with an insatiable hunger who literally swallowed anyone who got near him sending them to the land of the dead without actually killing them. the only god who was able to defeat him was actually the goddess Anat, because Mot killed their brother Ba'al. I wonder if that mythology will come into play in some form or another- mainly since the surname Simmons is a Hebrew name-ish, it is derived from the name Shimon which has been anglicized to Simon. Also the word Mot is used through out the middle east in different variations.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mot_(god)

just as an aside the Greek god of death is Thanatos

^ That is awesome! So just a small change in name and it means a god who swallows people live and sends them to another realm.
But if מות is death, then the root of that monster's name is death, which is not that surprising. Or am I missing something?

I think she was sent to either kree-lar or hala, or some random kree outpost in their vast empire. I can't wait to see more kree. I don't remember which is the kree home world now or in this MCU which they will use.

Titan is one of Saturn's moon. It's very cold; and though it does have an atmosphere... no oxygen to speak of.

Titan is also noticeably orange, not blue.

I thought this was one of the best episodes of the series. The time just flew by. You can tell the actors and writers are a lot more comfortable with these characters now. Lash looks like a promising villain as well. I hope he's a recurring villain and not just two episodes and done like Absorbing Man was last year. Lash has more potential than that.

Morag seemed quite a bit wetter but, of course, it's a planet (or moon, I suppose), not an island, so climate is not an unreasonable thing to have. Does anyone have a screenshot from the episode to compare?

Finally got a chance to watch this. Now if you'll excuse me I think I'll go watch it about 10 more times! Damn this show has gotten good.

Morag (as described by James Gunn on the GOTG commentary) is completely covered by ocean except for a brief period every few hundred years, so this planet/moon probably isn't Morag.

She definitely looks like she's on a moon, overlooking a planet. Morag's third moon looks blue-ish.

It's likely some place more Kree/Inhuman related though.

Yeah, she definitely appears to be on a moon based on that image.

SirStrangefolk suggested it could be the same place as that guy who would phase in and out of different dimensions from S01.
He called it "Hell". Seen here:

Maybe the wrench guy is still there and kept her captive for a bit, now she's escaped.

Skye looked hot in that top she wore. The low cut one I'm referring to. Well it wasn't that low cut, but her body still looked nice. She seems to be taking much more of a command role now.

Ward and May were completely missing from the episode. I thought Ward was going to have a bigger role this season.

I don't really know much about Lash but his silhouette looked like Blackheart.

Don't know where Simmons is, but she looks like she's been missing for a while out there.

yeah I also thought about that "simmons finds tobias ford" theory... could be awsome if true...

am I the only one who is kinda surprised joey wasn't dead by the end of the episode ?! I expected lash to kill him... do you guys think he will return ?!

also, did anyone else noticed weaver's brief appearence ?! I did not see anyone mentinoning yet...

plus... when Lash's "portals" open... did anyone else noticed that whatever place is on the other side, it looks kinda... blue ?! you know what I am thinking...

I didn't think they were portals. It looked like he just used his energy power to disintegrate the wall.

Are we certain that this is "Lash"?

Pretty certain it's Lash... He's credited as Lash in the press release located in the first post, the cast (including the guy playing him), the crew, Marvel employees, the makeup artist all have been calling him Lash in their tweets on Tuesday.

Plus using Lash in an Inhumans-heavy season makes perfect sense.

Yeah, it's clearly Lash, although he's gray rather than the reddish tan color he normally is in the comics.
