My intepretation of tihs:

The big SHIELD no longer exist, and that is a big deal in the MCU. The rebuilding will probably be long and hard, not to mention that I doubt that it will be as big as it once was. It will probably be bigger than Coulssons team, but probably not as big on the Nato-level it was before.

Therefore, all the individual heroes have now more "freedom", when the big SHIELD no longer monitors them, and can't send to much help to the heroes, given how small Coulssons SHIELD probably will be during the timeframe of AoU.

Though, it would be really awsome if Coulsson had a cameo in AoU, and gave a minor assistance to the Avengers in their battle against Ultron. I still hold out hope to that.

I guess that makes sense. Though I wonder why Fury didn't just try to rebuild SHIELD himself?

And I wonder if coulson will try to recruit/convince Maria Hill, Hawkeye, Natasha, and Steve to join his SHIELD...

I think he saw himself as unfit to lead after the HYDRA incident, so he decided to go against HYDRA on his own, so to speak.

And I wonder if coulson will try to recruit/convince Maria Hill, Hawkeye, Natasha, and Steve to join his SHIELD...

Would be cool. At least I think Maria Hill may be a likely candidate, but I think Hawkeye, Natasha and Steve wants to join only the Avengers now. But time will tell.

.

i think he still wants the world, especially HYDRA to think he is dead.. that will keep them on the backfoot when he comes in his copter to launch an attack :yay:

Agreed.

On another note, is everyone here okay with the idea of Coulson restarting up SHIELD so soon?

I mean, I'm sort of iffy about it at the moment. We just saw it go in TWS...I mean what was the point of Destroying SHIELD if it's just going to come back again through Coulson? Whatever happened to shaking things up within the MCU like Feige promised?

It was necessary to destroy SHIELD to bring out HYDRA.. now its time to regrow it under someone who can be trusted..

for the LMD theory:

Episode 18: Koenig said that he use to play Call of Duty with his brother William... and...welcome William Koenig

Maria seems to be happy using Stark's lawyers to hide from Congress based on her conversation with Pepper. So, I suspect she may be a strong ally and a liaison with Stark but not a member of the new SHIELD.

I wondered why Fury didn't just rebuild it himself either. He could easily done so if he really wanted to.

I bet he'll recruit Hawkeye, Maria and Natasha. Steve is busy looking for Bucky.

I suspect that the Powers That Be would rather have Fury's head than let him rebuild SHIELD -- someone needs to be blamed for SHIELD not noticing HYDRA growing within. Heck, we may even see some flack about Coulson since he's one of Fury's boys.

Fury is supposed to be dead remember, even if he chose to rebuild in secret word will eventually spread. He doesn't want HYDRA chasing him all his life so he chose to lay low. With Coulson as the new director he has the opportunity to rebuild the organization in the way he wanted and he gets to stay dead. He can relax on the beaches of TAHITI while Coulson and Co take all the heat.

Season Finale review!!! Revised and added sweet new pics!

Fury is supposed to have a cameo like role in AoU so it will be interesting if he mentions shield being rebuilt

If they're going to start rebuilding SHIELD from the ground up, then this would be the perfect opportunity for the show to introduce some named SHIELD agents from the comics. Jimmy Woo, Clay Quartermain, Bobbi Morse, Daisy Johnson, etc.

This would be fantastic.

Total wordy mc word here!

Was… I the only one who cried buckets during most of the FitzSimmons stuff? Yes? No? Okay then.

Really great season finale. Although…
I really hope they finda way to make Garrett return, even if not in his physical form. They actually could make him the MCU version of Korvac I think. Or MODOK!

OMG YAY
William Koenig!! That was a real surprise!

For the LMD story: episode 18, Erik have a brother. A twin, brother, I assume.

Right now Erik has a twin brother. If there is a third Keonig out there, then maybe the life model decoy thing holds merit.

yeah.... if there is a third one out there

1. I will believe the LMD theory
2. I Will LMAO at this epic running gag of koenigs running secret bases

If there are multiple Koenigs guarding the bases, I so wanna see an episode where they band together to fight something.... An army of Patton's...

I wonder if Patton may have a recurring role in season 2, keeping The Playground running smoothly?

Oh, and since Ward knows what Skye is now, and he told her he knows, he'll definitely be back in Season 2 for the "villain we don't trust but we have to because he has information we need" plot.

In his career, Bill Paxton has been killed by a Terminator, a Xenomorph, a Predator, and now Phil Coulson.

Coulson might turn out to be all three of the former, so that might be redundant. :woot:

This was an amazing season finale. Just smiles on my face the entire time (Bill Paxton was perfect tonight, his over-the-top performance was my favourite part about this episode by a wide-margin), this is definitely the best episode of the series thus far and, in some marvellous way, it reignited my passion for these characters, because they've been so well-written and acted all season long that I could easily see them incorporating characters like The Punisher and Ghost Rider in later down the road. I really hope the next season focuses on new heroes to introduce in the MCU, Daredevil or Luke Cage would make for great cameos to get people taking about their Netflix series coming soon. I'm genuinely happy to hear that this show managed to due well with the ratings and such, I was worried at first that it would take a nose-dive, but "T.R.A.C.K.S" was where I was truly impressed with it, and I think a lot of people were as well because the episode had just the right blend of action, mystery and suspense.

I would happily watch this series from start-to-finish again someday, as a whole season, I'd rate it at 8.5/10, and the season finale's an easy 10/10 for me. It was a perfect ending, lots of stuff for people to ponder upon over the coming months until we get Guardians of the Galaxy, which will probably be the best comic-book movie this year from the spectacular looks of it, and possibly our first look at some Avengers: Age of Ultron footage. Also, a bit of speculation on my part, but imagine this, what if Ward is the one who [BLACKOUT]snipes out Captain America[/BLACKOUT] later-on? Wouldn't that be something. :sus

I'd like to see some Whedon alums fill some of those roles if comic agents start getting brought in. I could see Neil Patrick Harris as Clay Quartermain.
