Alan Wake.

Why not just watch the cutscenes on youtube if you dont feel like playing it ? At least that would give you a better sense of the game

Also, Read Dead's ending was awesome. Just thought I'd point that out.

And you can't just buy a company, anyway. It's not like I can walk into Walmart tomorrow and go "Okay, boys...I'm buying the company!" even if I was a bazillionaire.
No?
So Sony didn´t bought Media Molecule last year and Naughty Dog in 2001?
EA didn´t bought Bioware in 2007?
Microsoft didn´t bought Lionhead in 2006 and Rare in 2002?

Yes, but I'm sure if MS purchased Rare they can do the same for Epic & at the very least Remedy.

I didn't mean that you can never buy other companies. I meant you can't just buy one because you feel like it. If EPIC or Rockstar or whoever doesn't want to be bought it's not like MS can just be like "OH WELL TOO BAD WE'RE BUYIN'!"

Hence, it's not like they could just walk in and say "Ok guys...I'm buying the company!"

Not if they dont want to be sold.

Depending on how the company is structured(Privately held vs Publicly traded) changes how the companies are bought and sold.

Epic is a privately owned company, the decisions to be bought and sold lies with, id assume, Mark Rein and Tim Sweeney(assuming he's still part of Epic). So if MS says hey Epic, we wanna purchase you and they say, we arent selling, guess what? Epic doesnt get sold.

Ok, and you´re right, you can´t buy a company if they don´t want to, but that´s not the point.
The point is, Microsoft Game Studios, Microsoft´s publishing arm, is the second worst western publisher there is, only ahead Atari (which only make downloadable games, which is pretty pathetic. I like downloadable games, but you can´t live on that alone).
Microsoft doesn´t care, they don´t buy anyone because they don´t want to, all they care is Kinect and media stuff (Twitter, Facebook, Netflix, ESPN, Skype and all that), it´s ridiculous if you ask me.

Here's something interesting, according to XBLAfans, the next Alan Wake game is a XBLA game called Alan Wake: Night Springs.
http://www.xblafans.com/rumor-alan-wake-night-springs-will-be-an-xbla-title-13758.html

An extremely trusted source has leaked to us that the upcoming Alan Wake: Night Springs will be an Xbox Live Arcade title and not a retail release. We have seen screen caps, but have been asked not to disclose them at this time. We have emailed Microsoft asking for a comment and will update as the situation develops.

We would like to point out that we announced the Gotham City Imposters XBLA game months ago, which was recently confirmed. We cannot confirm details about Alan Wake: Night Springs yet, but we expect an official announcement to come soon.

It's quite possible that this is true since Remedy did said that the Alan Wake is not a sequel, so an Arcade title is quite likely.

Maybe Alan will be trapped in a Night Springs episode? Kind of weird they'd make it an XBLA title...why not just make it Alan Wake DLC? I guess to get those "new fans" on board? Meh.

At least it's not a Kinect game. :oldrazz:

We'll see if it's true. Most XBLA games have gotten good over the last few years so if Remedy is working on an Arcade game it could be something special and that'll occupy us while they're working the sequel (hopefully).

I've been saying that Live games are getting better and better. So... this could end up a top of the line XBLA title.

I just hope the quality of the game stays consistent, meaning I don't want a side scrolling 2D game. I'm a little disappointed that we won't be getting "The Return." But who knows!? :) it's still early and I trust they'll make the best decisions for the fans and for Alan. :)

It could be along the lines of Case West where it's essentially a stand-alone Wake title but in the same gameplay style as the full game.

At least the second DLC kinda sets up a sequel and gives the story a bit more closure. I wasn't a fan of the main story ending, either. It kinda just...ended.

Though, it seemed to fit the rest of the story, anyway. A lot of the story had very little explanation and left a lot of questions. It was a very weird story.

Wierd is the only way to describe it. Books should have endings and so should good games. I know they want to make downloadable add-ons, but they don't have to make it so confusing.

I hope the new game gives us answers. I just finished alan wake 2nite and the ending left a lot of questions open

Let's hope there IS a second game. Original AW didn't sell much (Sadly because stupid MS released it in the same day as Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption). Then there were rumors of a Kinect only spin-off called Night Springs.

God I want Alan Wake 2 now. The game is among my all time faves.

that was unavoidable as both games had their released dates shuffled a couple times

I know but it was like a suicide. Just look how many games change their release dates to avoid Modern Warfare titles. They could have tried one of the slower months. A lot of slow months like August and July are like that because they don't have any big releases. Batman AA released in August and proved that good games can make a profit during those months.

Woah, what? Kinect-only? I remember hearing about the XBLA game, but nothing like that.

It was like playing through my own Stephen King story. I loved it and I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. As soon as my friend finishes my copy I'm going through it again. And I still haven't played the dlc.

Remedy is definitely releasing something new for Alan Wake, the only thing we know is that it's not a sequel but an addition. My guess it's either an XBLA title or another DLC but we'll know about it more at least by the end of this year, I'm positive about that.

I think Alan Wake has sold well enough, it's passed the 1 million mark a while ago.

im curious about alan wake some people say its good but a lot of people at my school says its bad anyone actually suggest it? i really enjoy the silent hill series and looking at alan wake sorta reminded me of silent hill. so any suggestions?

This thread is full of people who love the game and would recommend it with zero hesitation, myself included. If you dig Silent Hill or Stephen King type of horror tales I'd say it's a no-brainer.
