Alan Wake.

just finished the game....wow....great game and they built a nice little world if the story is going to be continued

I really need to finish this game. I just finished ch 4 i think.

so was I but I thought about it and
at the beginning of the game you get that tutorial with the lighthouse, but you don't see the lighthouse for the rest of the game, so wherever that place is, its important

Instant classic, as far as I'm concerned. Remedy has me as a guaranteed customer for all future DLC and sequels. Exceptional story by genre standards, and a great gameplay mechanic. Love the "Alan Wake's Journey through the night will continue" line after the credits.

Well, it looks there's been some confusion about the DLC token you get with buying the game new. Apparently, you were suppose to keep the code until today and enter it now. If you entered it before you got some brief behind-the-scenes video, and apparently Microsoft will e-mail you another code to enter today. I haven't gotten it as of yet, but hopefully it'll come by the end of the day.

Why they didn't just freeze the code and tell you to wait on the token card is behind me.

EDIT: Well, looks as if I found something on this:

If you've already redeemed your code (and received the add on video), we know who you are. Not in a bad way, but in a good way. We've pulled the list of folks that have redeemed the code, have new codes for you and they'll already starting to make their way out. We're sending them to contact email address listed at xbox.com/accounts--check that in mail in the next 24-48 hours for your new code.
So, hopefully not a long wait, but if they planned to do this code thing this way, they really should have had it ready to go before now.

I still have the card, I actually just moved it aside last night to grab a book

Well, if you didn't enter the code earlier, you can enter it now or anytime to get the DLC; it's up on the XBL Marketplace

Yeah, got mine as well, but now I'm getting some kind of error code that says the data cannot be retrieved..

EDIT: Well, finally went through after several tries. Not sure what the problem was, but it's downloading now

Damn I redeemed my code last night haha. Now I have to wait.

Okay, so I finished The Signal. Overall, it was pretty fun, if somewhat shorter than I had hoped. Plot-wise, there didn't seem to be much addition to the overall story, about the only thing that was really seemed to be implied was something that I felt was more or less obvious. [blackout]It's basically implies that Alan is trapped with the darkness in some form, and that he's falling deeper and deeper into it, which is leading to a heavy amount of self-conflict.[/blackout] It wasn't bad, and the writing remained on the level of the main game, but I was hoping for a little more. Though, despite that, I think this was a good set up for a potentially more interesting story.

Did it mention what Alice was/is doing? I'm curious if she [and the other surviving characters who stayed in the Well Lit Rom] will make any appearances in the next DLC or the sequel if one comes around.

No, Alice doesn't directly appear. It's all Alan. The only supporting character to show up is Barry, but it's not actually him. When you get to play it, you'll get what I mean

Amaaaazing DLC, trippier and tougher than any of the episodes. :D I hope the next DLC gets even crazier, Alan is really losing his marbles.

I just bought this game today, wow I love the atmosphere of it. It has done what I thought Dead Space failed to do which is create this really creepy atmosphere where you feel like anything can happen. The combat so far is just fantastic and the graphics look great especially everything with the contrasting of light and dark. The only things I dont like all have to deal with the voices of the characters esepcially Alan. I don't know there is just something about it I don't like. The mouth tracking during the cutscenes is also just god awful but those quibbles are pretty minor.

I played Alan Wake and "The Signal" over like 2 days. Short game but generally pretty good. While the "light, shoot, rinse, repeat" formula got old after a while (especially in "The Signal," which seemed to jack the difficulty up through the roof compared to the main game), I really enjoyed the story. Sam Lake is definitely one of gaming's best writers, as far as I'm concerned. Maybe a bit overwrought at times, but he knows how to lay a compelling and satisfying story out very effectively, which many of his compatriots in the game industry don't seem to have a great handle on (granted, it's due in part to the interactive nature of gaming in a lot of cases). I loved the little in-jokes and such, like Nightingale insultingly calling Alan a different writer's name every time they saw each other, the last Alex Casey book having the ending of Max Payne (complete with James McCaffrey reading the manuscript pages of it), the mythological overtones, etc. I borrowed a copy from a friend to play it, so I don't know if I'll be able to play the next DLC episode, but I may just pick it up at a bargain price later on for that. Definitely interested in seeing where the story goes.

I wish i could play this game, my part of Greece hasn't gotten it :(

Loved this game. Best game since Bioshock 2. This felt like a novel, a film, and a tv series rolled into one, but of course, played like a game. This would make one hell of a tv mini series.

Lol, I've finally redeem my code for "The Signal". I totally forget how creepy this game can be sometimes, but yet so fun. It will be interesting to see which direction they're heading for Alan Wake in "The Writer" after this, a bit David Lynch inspired episode.

I'm playing through the Signal right now and after 3 deaths in a row at the forest scene where there seems to be an unlimited amount of bad guys, I called it quits for now. I enjoyed the hell out of the game, but the Signal...not so much. It seems really half-assed to me: The ammo/batteries have to be recovered by flashing your flashlight at it (the most annoying part) and rehashed levels. I was hoping for more character interaction but I think all I'll get is an imaginary Barry.

I'm expecting a non-resolution ending since there is another downloadable episode in the works.

Shame you didn't like it. I agree that the DLC difficultly went up a notch but I think it was intended by Remedy since usually the peoples who goes after the DLC are experienced players since they have already finished the main game.

http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/20/report-the-writer-is-final-alan-wake-dlc/

Alan Wake's "The Writer" DLC may be the last we see of Mr. Wake in downloadable form, according to Evil Avatar. Remedy head Matias Myllyrinne apparently told the site that The Writer would "conclude things" (Evil Av's words) and, like the last DLC episode, would feature "intense action" (Myllyrinne's words). Remedy has yet to confirm the report as of publishing.

Even if the Writer is to be the last DLC for Alan Wake, Remedy has expressed interest in an episodic, digitally distributed release of the full game at some point. Additionally, a recent interview with Remedy resulted in a fuzzy answer to the question of additional Alan Wake DLC beyond The Writer. With any luck, Remedy will paint a clearer explanation soon.
