Alejandro Gonzalez to helm.....Birdman

Boyhood was such a bore to me. I'm glad it was shunned for the most part. It was a nice diverson but I doubt it'll be the classic many are claiming it will be.

I loved Boyhood but I'm so thrilled to see Birdman take the big prize, I just wished Keaton got it instead of Redmayne.

I think Redmayne winning over Keaton will definitely go down as a controversial snub, considering Birdman won BP.

Maybe Boyhood won't become a classic, but I don't think we can confidently say Birdman will either at this point. Alejandro was 100% right when he said that time has the final say.

This is the first time my favorite film of the year won Best Picture. Its well deserved, IMO.

I can't say Keaton was better than anyone else, as I haven't seen the other nominees films. However, I really did want him to win, and judging by some of the responses to his loss, it really seems like he deserved to win.

Was the response that way in general or mainly on here? Just curious as obviously Keaton has a big fanbase on a site like this. I thought his few words during the best pic acceptance speech were great, it just made me feel like "Yeah, he gets it" compared to some of the blubberers and bitters in the past who put too much stock in it IMO.

In general. Everywhere ya go online, people are sad that Keaton lost. It's nice to see how beloved he is, beyond the fanboys.

What I loved best about his brief words was that the audience started gettin' really loud and warm to him, as if everyone there felt for him and loved his humility, even if they still thought Redmayne deserved it.

I thought his "I'm just happy to be here" was really endearing. Made me appreciate him all over again.

I saw this yesterday, and...wow. Oh my God. Everything everybody said about it was true. The cinematography was great; the story was captivating; and Michael Keaton was absolutely sublime. This just might be my new favorite movie.

This is the first time in a long time when they announced Best Picture and I thought: yeah, that's it.

Keaton was robbed the Academy Award what BS.

When the director had Keaton Speak he came off like Beetlejuice to me.

Lawd. Big Birdman.

I demand to see the whole movie re-enacted on Sesame Street.

Sam: Prairie Dawn
Mike: Elmo
Jake: Oscar the Grouch
Lesley: still Naomi Watts (I think she has to be in a minimum number of projects per year, and I want to see her do the motel bed scene again with Elmo)

Gosh, I can't get enough of this... it never slows down and is always captivating.

Yeah... Keaton transcended acting in this.

Does anyone wish they had/said "Birdman Returns... never got to make the 3rd Birdman" for a more on point Batman homage instead of the Birman 3, never got to make Birman 4?

Also, the score is just-wow.

There is only one logical explanation for the ending IMO:

The movie starts with him levitating.

He's shown multiple times using his powers throughout the movie.

Birdman is tormenting him to no end.

In the end, he embraces the hate and goes back to his roots.

Unless you really hated your father, you wouldn't be happy having just seen him commit suicide by jumping to his death. No, she saw him flying.

Everything else being thrown at you was a smokescreen. The twist is He IS Birdman, period.

Keaton was great. also the one shot stuff was amazing. Apart from that.... I think when you're spiting on everything from comic book blockbusters to broadway stages, to critics, you have to have something to say. the content was much lighter than it thought it was.

I think you make a great point.

I loved the film. I can't wait to see it again, as it's been six months since I saw it in theaters. However, the things that the director has said has been a huge turnoff for me. He made a great film; I think he should have just let the film speak for itself.

Basically, due to the things that the director has said, I really see him as Edward Norton's character in the movie. Haha.

I didn't even think about that, but it totally makes sense haha
