Alice in Wonderland 2

The first movie was "meh" and had some cringe-worthy scenes (Depp's dance at the end, every second of Hathaway's screentime).

This trailer doesn't look bad, though, for a kids movie.

it looks fun. But thus far it does not get my money.

It looks like a trailer for a sequel for a film that wasn't really good but earned a lot of money at the box-office and here's the obligatory sequel just because $$$. It looks cheap and IMO it looks worse than the first one and the punchlines are cringe worthy.

Looks interesting enough. Cohen looks to be the worst part, followed by Depp. Carter looks like she's having fun. Wasikowska looks like she has an internal monologue of "why am I doing this again" which honestly can work for the character. They finally fixed Hathaway's eyebrows. :atp:

If that's the case, why didn't they do this sooner? When the iron was still hot.

Watched the trailer and thought it looked like another mediocre to bad "Johnny Depp is whacky" movie.

All I can think is that the film is going to make so much less than the first in the states.A less than stellar reception for the first film, a far less popular Johnny Depp, a 5 year gap
and no brand spanking new after Avatar 3D to prop the film up. It will be lucky to crack 200mil. And oh yeah let's not forget that it's going up against X-Men.

I've said this before, it looks like Depp's whackiness has been toned down here. But I agree with you on the date and the 5 year gap -- it should've hit theaters two years ago at most.

And why Disney elected to release this on Memorial Day 2016 is beyond me. When Fox moved their Burton Peregrine film from March 2016 to Christmas 2016, I thought Disney would move Alice 2 to that vacant spot. Why not keep that date for the sequel? It's going to get lost in the shuffle in late May-early June.

Disney is going to lose some money on this. If they move it to March, it won't be a total loss.

Even if they did lose money, they'll be fine. Between Civil War, Rogue One, Doctor Strange, The Jungle Book and Finding Dory, they were poised to have a good 2016 even without Alice 2.

While Ill end up watching the movie, it seems like it will be a full on hot mess.

I'm puzzled why Disney commissioned a script two years after Alice came out. They should've secured a writer in mid-2010 and churned this out for 2012-2013.

I don't know why the studio opted for summer 2016 either. And I doubt this is going to do Maleficent-sized numbers either.

If a sequel or a series of films was really intended in the FIRST place, we would have been at movie #3 or #4 by now. But familiarity $ell$, the first one made $$$ and a couple of big films from Disney unperformed since Alice in Wonderland, so here we are with the obligatory sequel.

Not everything needs to happen that way, some of the best sequels were only thought of after the first ones were successes, even though those films were one-shot stories. Aliens for example took that long because it took a while for someone to actualy want to make that film, before that, Alien was seen as a one-shot story without potential for sequels.

Did Burton have a conflict, or just decided not to come back?

What? Not really, they've had dozens of hits since then to counter the John Carter and Tomorrowland losses.

Exactly. Not everything needs to be planned, churned out or whatever. If people have fond memories and are 'feeling' the sequel, they'll flock to theaters even five years or more after the original.

Nice trailer

Hope this movie is an improvement on the originals script.

Do you mean the original script for this film or the script for the first film?

The first film, really wanted to like it. But walked out pretty angry.

Heard some of Pink's "White Rabbit" cover for the movie. I like her, but I feel like that song would've suited a Florence Welch much better.

Change angry to bored and that was me. I stand by what I said earlier and I'll see this provided the reviews are good. I also hate to say it, but I think Alan Rickman's recent passing might give this a boost at the box office. I feel like a major draw to this will be to see his final role.

There's some stuff I really like, wasn't enough at all though. Overall I felt they missed the rhythm of Alice In Wonderland's humor and nonsense.

Pretty solid cover actually.

I have never agreed with Sawyer more. This scares me.

I honestly don't think it will. Had Rickman passed shortly after completing work on Deathly Hallows, it would definitely spike interest.
