The way they tried to make it all brooding and serious felt really juvenile - it was like a constant apology for the sillyness of the character (guy in batsuit).

DC doesn't have to apologize for that approach.

I thought what he did on Hush was better, actually. In All Star, he seems to be trying to match Miller and just going crazy with everything. Which works for this book, but his stuff has looked better, IMO.
