That's what I like about you, Kane. A Batman fan through and through.

You certainly wouldn't say silly things like "That Batman movie thats clearly starring Batman and associated Batman characters is not a Batman movie."
Because loving every single thing related to batman makes a person sooooo cool. God forbid we dislike something Batman related.

No.

Not being an elitist *****e about Batman related things is what makes someone "sooooo cool".

I am not fond of Burton's version of Catwoman or Penguin. I feel like making Selina Kyle a meek secretary was way inferior to other versions of the character and randomly making her insane seems more than a bit sexist to me. She has less agency when she is just some randomly insane woman and not a cool calculating thief. I'm sick of the insane woman trope. I suppose the Penguin reinvention could have worked but not the way it was handled in the film.

Less agency? Gotta disgree big time ISS.

Catwoman is an inversion of the insane woman trope. She's a woman driven mad but rather than be victimized, she turns herself into the male nightmare. She's the only villain who gives Bats a run for his money and she refuses to let him (bruce)turn her into the cliche crazy chick saved by a man, when instead of walking off with him she kills Max.

And as someone said before, her craziness actually rescues Bruce; seeing her madness makes him take a look at himself and his actions. So instead of the trope of the crazy woman healed by a man, the man is healed by the crazy woman. It's a fascinating inversion.

Personally, I don't usually like catwoman because I think the cliche of a woman stealing pretty things in a sexy outfit is ridiculously sexist. So for me, Burton's take is refreshingly different.

I've seen Batman 89 and TDK the most times.

Damn, you really hated Batman Forever! :wow:

Nah I don't hate it, I liked both the campy and the serious sides of Batman Forever, but it never worked together. It didn't know what it wanted to be.

But 8.5/10? On your scale that's like a G minus. ;)

I'd tend to agree, altough I'm not sure if Selina "healed" Bruce at all.

Anyway, compare BR's Catwoman to TDKR's, in which the evil hooker has to be "fixed" by the noble leading man, acquires her hooker heart of gold and goes off with the hero to live happily ever after. I prefer the tragic Selina we got in BR, even if it's a deviation from the comic books.

Catwoman is inherently sexist, really. TDKR's is almost Pretty Woman level sexist though

What movie did you watch?

What are you talking about? I love talking about all the inconsistencies in TDKR. :oldrazz:
Yet you give it a 9/10 as if it's one of the greats.
