Supe fans be jelly.

And Bat fans be peanut butter with bread. :mnm:

Not necessarily. I mean something like this would be cool

Batman-Superman-Fight-Comic-Panel.jpg

(Only to be revealed that Batman put his own life at risk, instead of an anonymous Gothamite)

instead of "lol I can kick your ass because of a green rock."
I like this a lot. Their fight could be them both testing each other. To see how far the other is willing to go.

So did Dr. Hamilton definitely die in MOS? Really thought he'd be one of the more important continuing characters in the series. If he is gone, who else would work at S.T.A.R.?

I mean he was in a space ship that exploded with an interdimensional device, i'd say he is pretty ****ing dead.

Well, that green rock is a big part of the Superman lexicon and for good reason. You have a character that powerful, you need to give him some kind of major weakness. Regardless, there will be a physical fight, so kryptonite seems likely. Or maybe he will be weakened by a nuke ala TDKR or something of the like.

Ugh, just when I'd sworn off losing work productivity to internet forums, you people and your damnable enthusiasm force me out of lurkdom... Anyway, hi, been reading for a while (not everything, jeez you folks post fast!) but this is my first post here, and I have to say I'm extremely excited by the potential I see in the teaser.

I feel like I keep seeing some people reacting to the portrayal of Superman as though they think the character himself is being shown to be acting in a dark or negative way, and I'm not sure I understand that interpretation. To me, it seems pretty clear that what we're seeing is human beings being forced to reckon with the reality of a being of Superman's power being among them, and the confusion and wildly mixed reactions that would inevitably bring. I think what we see of Superman, he looks mostly confused and upset, and my inner hope is that meeting Batman, WW, Aquaman, etc. will ultimately serve to help him find his place in this world and where he fits in - though it may take a challenging path to get there. It seems like a continuation of ideas that were introduced (to varying degrees of success) in MoS, and actually gives me hope that Snyder & co. heard and considered the valid criticisms of that film when putting this one together. I hope so, anyway, as to me MoS was a mixed bag of some great ideas and portrayals that got muddled by trying to be too many things and lost focus along the way.

Uh, that's a pretty long way of saying 'hello', so I'll stop now :yay: but thanks for all the thought provoking reading thus far!

Welcome! I agree with everything in bold.

Welcome but be aware of the cray cray's.

Which is about 99% of the BvS board's.

Very njce and insightful first post, that's pretty much my interpretation as well.
Oh, and welcome to the Hype.

Hmmm interesting. Bats goading Supes: "You killed before (i.e. Zod), what's one more life to you." and Supes mentioning Robin. Or something like that.

The Zod thing makes sense from Batman. Not really in character for Supes to mention Robin though is it?

While kryptonite is a part o f Superman's mythos....it could be something they don't use in this universe.
I don't think this Superman is as impervious as previous versions. Looking at the smallville fight Superman is droppes to his knees by lazer blasts, rounds from the helicopter pushes him back...missiles knock out Faora. So I don't think this is a Superman that can shrug off nukes to the spitcurl.

Welcome! The only thing you need to know is if you see the words "el maybe", we're not embracing culture. Just keep scrolling.

I'm down for a Jesus like arc for Superman. The JL movies have the potential to be epic on an almost biblical level. The JL is comprised of gods basically.

Mos: the rise of Superman
BVS: the death of Superman
JL: the return of Superman

Wouldn't that feel a bit rushed? He's been in only one movie and now we're already killing him...only to be revived in the next one....it would make the death issue seem pointless I think..., not to start a dc vs marvel war, but to me it would be like everytime Loki is dead...you can't even miss the guy because they revive him so fast...

What you see as a big part of Superman's lexicon for good reason, I see as inconsistent and cheap. The physical weakness element works if he's truly something to be feared and a morally dubious character. Snyder's Superman doesn't appear to be that, and you can manipulate him and play psychological tricks on him to expose his real weaknesses. I can see Batman baiting himself to try to get Superman to kill again, and expose him as the fraud to everyone.

No. Superman is not dying when they're about to create the Justice League. He's a focal figure for the team.

It's in the details. It is just a teaser, but it's a teaser that shows Superman as this distant larger-than-life figure, and when big chunks of the previous film did just that as well, it gives off the vibe that they're skipping over the more important aspects of a benign character. It's cool to see complexity and real world reactions built in, but as long as they don't focus on the things that they've been skimping on, people will remain worried. That teaser did nothing to avoid those knee-jerk reactions.

Is your agenda to see Superman die?? Snyder already said you can't form the JLA without Superman. No way Snyder kills him off right before they form and then have him brought back in JL. It's not a very good plot line and sorry to say it would hurt the BO of this movie.

Could you imagine how the critics would pan this movie if they killed him?? Snyder would be crucified and Marvel fan boys would own the world. Killing Superman worked in the 90's to make the comic relevant again. They can use Doomsday, even though I think it's dumb but the Trinity need to come together and destroy him.

Possibly, I was thinking more along the lines of Supes just seeing how far Bats was willing to take the fight, and to find out more about him.

You can find out a lot about a man while engaged in battle...I have no idea if that's true, but it sounds good ;)

:funny: True, but I still think Bats would have trouble physically striking MoS Supes if he was at full power (even with the armored suit). It seems he needs to be weakened somehow.

This is what happens when users trust tabloid gossip over actual news. The whole Doomsday rumor has grown larger than the character himself. And it all stems from a leaked fake script
