It is a really great song. They both are. That U2 song remains my favorite of theirs.

Have you met other human beings though? "Superfluous Reasoning" is the only reasoning for a crap metric ton of people. Look at the complaints in AOU about the "romance" between Bruce and Natasha and how Bruce somehow "betrayed" Betty... THEY WEREN'T EVEN IN A RELATIONSHIP OR HAD SEX OR ANYTHING! They were two adults with feelings for each other with one (Tasha) saying, "Hey, maybe we could make a go at it being a couple". That's all that happened with them in the movie but man oh man, talk to some and they make it like they had this intense romantic courtship going on.

Get ready for them to go ape**** when Diana flirts with Bruce. :oldrazz:

BATMAN AND ROBIN BEGINS

With Batman Forever a hit, a sequel was immediately greenlit. Schumacher wanted to go dark with a sequel, but eventually made 1997’s Batman & Robin after receiving pushback from the studio. The poorly received sequel would change the course of Batman history, sending the studio into a period of years spent years reevaluating what to do with The Dark Knight.

Schumacher: After Forever’s success, I wanted to do The Dark Knight. It was going to be very dark. I remember going to the set of Face/Off and asking Nic Cage to play the Scarerow. The studio, and I’m not sure the audience, was in a frame of mind to go too dark with Batman at that time. It’s interesting how our culture has changed. How the socio-economic-political culture makes it absolutely palatable to see Chris [Nolan]’s Batman — for instance The Dark Knight Rises — which is such a comment on exactly what’s happening. You might be able to track that on all the movies. Maybe Batman is one of those things like Pi. It’s the center of the universe.

I thought this ws already known. :oldrazz:

Schumacher wanted to do a lose TDKR adaptation. It still doesn't give him a pass for the bat nipples or all those crotch shots. He cast Clooney by drawing a batcowl over one of his pics. Brilliant idea. Laawd. I don't hate Batman Forever tho.

I think Age of Ultron had way worse issues than that boring poorly handled romance which I had no issue with before seeing the film. I wish that were the only problem I had with Age of Ultron.

Personally I want a Bats and Wondy flirtation but I don't want a romance. I don't want her to discuss running away with him or any ******** like that. And I like romance but save that **** for Steve Trevor.

I think that Schumacher was quite capable of directing a decent dark Batman movie ... and still think that Clooney as Batman was a good choice, but he was wasted in campy Batman and Robin movie.

If BF had all the deleted scenes re-instated, the original sequencing starting with Two-Face's Arkham escape, and Two-Face's goofiness toned down, it could have been one of the better movies in the franchise.

Yeah, I'm just really tired of the Batman romances in every film. I'd rather see more Batfamily stuff.

Yep. I was reading Morrison's Arkham Asylum a few months back and as I was reading it, I just kept thinking how Schumacher could've made a film that closely echoed that story if Warner Bros hadn't been so goddamn intent on not scaring the kids away in the wake of Batman Returns. But nope. Gotta sell more toys.

Schumacher's design for Arkham Asylum was brilliant. Very expressionistic.

I think Batman Returns is a terrible movie but not because it was too creepy for the kiddies. *dodges tomatoes*

I find it hard to understand those who put BR over 89'. Granted Michelle was beyond awesome as Catwoman, but the movie itself was not great.

I am actually glad we moved on from everything Burton\Schumacher when it comes to CBM adaptations.

I agree. And I'm wearing crappy clothes so bring on the rotting veggies and fruit.

Batman Forever is the closest we've gotten to a perfect, well balanced Batman film.

Every other film has been too far right or too far left on the "Camp/Light vs. Serious/Dark" "Grounded vs. Comic Booky" scales.

Which is what every successful movie is all about these days.... I'm told that Jurassic Park movie is one big toy commercial. :o

I think BR is the better movie over B89, but I like both.

A few things on this convo:

1. Clooney was **** as Batman. Period. It wasn't the tone of the movie that made him a bad Batman, it was his wooden acting.

2. BF is still the only Bats movie to really nail Bruce's character, imo, as well as his duality with his alter ego.

3. Returns is better than '89 because Christopher Walken makes everything better. And Keaton had way better chemistry with Michelle than Kim B.

4. How we be talking Batman soundtracks without mentioning the R. Kelly gem Gotham City? :o. Screw Seal and U2.

Of course the guy that directed "A Time To Kill" could give us a dark as hell Batman movie....WB didn't want it

Sorry but screw them all...Prince is the king when it comes to Bat-Soundtracks. I still rock Scandalous.
