It was likely edited to look like it was Superman, as to not give away the villain at the end. However, the photo of Superman's beams do show that the shot in the trailer could have come from Superman.
Middle ground, I can deal with that ;)

Two beams becoming one

So they cross their eyes? :o

Also, when Clark made the tunnel to the scout ship he either had to roll his eyes the whole way or he adjusted the size of the beam.

Gotta say, i love this image and kinda hope Superman interacts with the president more often on global threats. :hmr:

I think you see Clark display a lot of finesse with his heat vision in MOS; the Arctic scene definitely looks like a wide beam is being used, and he seems to cauterize Lois's wound without vaporizing her.

I'm thinking that a Lex-based viral video will probably show up next in the above mentioned Lex/OS website sign-up. It'll drop probably be at least a week or so later after the Star Wars trailer hype dies down. The actual trailer will probably be out in December.

Regarding Clark and lois living together, i took it as Perry, Jenny & Lombard were first introduced to 'Superman' and then saw them embrace and kiss.
So they see a connection.

Then, Lois introduces Clark to Perry and from that i got 'This is you know who, let's try and do the right thing'.

I'm sure one of the DC big wigs, implied this too, like Perry wasn't stupid.

The military, Swanick for example must have worked out the connection of the farm, Clark and superman.

For Lois to live with Superman or to admit to the public she and Supes have a thing is just crazy - you would be forever covering and watching your steps - it's like leasing out your room to Justin Beiber and the city knowing about it.
This is my only real concern with MOS is it left a lot unanswered to information i personally wanted to know.

So i just put it down to this. Perry knows, Swanick knows and they are covering it up.
Lombard and Jenny have not worked out Clark and Supes are one in the same and Perry can control that too, by treating Clark as 'normal' as possible and hyping Superman up.
Also, in MOS the media never really got great footage of Superman up close - it was never implied either. So when Clark in his normal attire, glasses is walking down the street, no one will assume anything - unless the freak occurrence of Supes saving someone then coming into contact with them again.

It's like i watch sports, the english premier league and i know the typical 'star' players but if i walked into a bar and a random player from say Liverpool was sat there, would i know? Only if i was highly exposed to him through the media.
I do think B v S will explain a lot of this and i'm willing to go with it, simply because i live this universe and look forward to it, but again, like MOS, i will be a bit miffed if that kinda stuff is left to our imagination as i find it a fun dynamic.

Going to the OMAC theory (which i like and is a new one for me), i have a feeling the majority will be military based with a few volunteers (if they go this route). I would imagine a few would volunteer for the 'cyborg' style upgrades and not realize they have been infected with a virus that basically controls them - like the Calan Mulvey character.

Imagine all the military men and women currently back at home, with life changing injuries, realistically there must be hundred of thousands across america, all wishing they had a chance to go back - i reckon lex could use that angle, to be able to protect and to serve again.

Love the theories - i hope the next set of trailers reveal more of the threat - this forum will heat up faster than Lacy Warfield's chicken.

This. MOS shows he had a great deal of control over how big he wants the beam to be.
Also remember that Batman and Superman will be fighting in this movie. I expect Superman to fight with all his powers...especially against a foe that is armed with Kryptonite. Would Superman use a blast like that against Batman...perhaps if Batman had him on the ropes.

Perry introduced Lois to Clark. I didn't get a sense that Perry knew anything.

I don't think they'd be launching unmanned drones if they knew who he was.

Interesting ideas.

Nah, Superman trying to annihilate Batman with everything he's got is just wrong, so wrong.

Batman is out to kill him and has the means. Superman can't defend himself?
Superman killing a human, regardless of the intentions, is just not right. What comes next, him snapping Lex' neck?

These neck snap jokes just don't work any more. It's akin to straight outta compton at this point.

Wasn't there a bit of backstory for MOS that claimed that Clark wasn't a virgin as a teen? This would implied that Clark already got some degree of control on his power by time he hits puberty?

I'm thinking that the Superman in MOS already in control of his ability (on Earth) but lacks fighting skills against an evenly matched opponent. In BvS, it's about 2-3 years later and he'll be even more powerful.

Where is the joke tho? That was a simple example to prove my point that Superman should never try to kill a human because they want his death. It's just plain out of character.

So the direction of beams is controlled by the head movement, not able to be controlled by moving eyes apparently.

The Batman dodging the Heat-vision blast isn't in the armoured suit. I believe the final confrontation between Bats and Supes will be when Bats is in his armour. So it follows, as also evidenced from the backdrop and its positioning in the trailer, the shot is from the third act, and it's actually Batman dodging a heat blast/ vision from the physical threat. Quite possibly, Doomsday.
