so assuming this is a trilogy, let's think of what the "themes" of each will be.

this 1st one felt like the theme was "purpose." Clark finally found his purpose in life.....to protect humanity.

the 2nd one, assuming it's a battle between Superman and Lex for the hearts and minds and trust of Metropolis ( and humanity in general ), the theme should be "hope." by the end of the 2nd film, Superman should be the symbol of hope to the world his fathers wanted him to be.

the 3rd one, let's say it involves Brainiac and Doomsday, the theme would be "sacrifice." to stop Doomsday, Superman battles him to the death, like in the comics....

although that would be kind of a downer to end a trilogy.......lol

maybe you can switch 2 and 3, and have 2 be about sacrifice and 3 about hope.

Awesome. I rewatched Superman 1 and 2, and then Superman Returns over the last few days, and really, I'd forgotten how clunky they are.
I watched the Donner cut of 2, and couldn't believe they used the time reversal gimmick at the end of that one as well. I don't recall that being in the original version. At least the cellophane S shield was gone though haha

then I think you will like it!!

just don't go in expecting "perfect boy scout" Superman, either.

don't know if you've been reading the spoilers here..........but if you're a "purist" in that sense of Superman being the infallible perfect ideal, then you might be disappointed.........

that's why I say keep an open mind.

maybe the second one could be more about heroism and what it means to be a real hero for humanity, with Superman and Lex duking it out based on their different ideals on what humanity really needs, etc, which could also tie nicely into the JL film after that without making it fee like it's forced..and the third film could be about hope instead.

I just want an extended cut :csad:

even if we got an extended cut, I don't think it'd be drastically different like how the Kingdom of Heaven and LOTR EC's were since the only thing we know now is that the only major scenes that were cut from the film involved the Kents and Baby Clark at a hospital and Lois being interrogated.

No, I'm hoping to not see "the perfect boy scout". We had that in the Donner films. I want, no, I NEED, something new from Supes this time around. Not saying I want him to be Batman, but I want a bit less of the "Golly gee whiz Miss Lane", and a lot more of the "Im gonna kick your ass" Superman :yay:

yeah.......that could work, too.

I just feel "hope" should be a theme in one of the movies.

the theme in MOS really felt like it was "finding your purpose."

this Superman kicks ass. LIKE A BOSS!!! :word:

Here's a question do you think Man of Steel is still going to have big fan support a year from now when we bring it up?

Do you think this is one those films that the fan-boys will eventually turn on? As of now the fan support is pretty strong despite the reviews but is that going to hold upon further reflection and time?
Possibly an eventuality. I can see if a sequel were to fix the problems with this film, it would be feasible.

Zack Snyder on Man of Steel 2 progress, Smallville references, Justice League

On the sequel – which we hear the studio has not only greenlit, but that Snyder has already got the setting and villain mapped out!

Snyder : I’m going to be a hundred percent honest with you, I haven’t yet gotten to speak to the studio about all these awesome details (because I’ve been overseas on the junket). So my hope is, when I get home I can sit down with everyone and it’ll be like ‘Okay, so what are we going to do?.. we need to do something…”’

One of the questions they have to immediately address in a sequel :

“We almost destroyed the world last time, now what!?’

Does ”Man of Steel” lead to ”Justice League”?

I really wanted to expand the DC Universe and I really wanted to make sure, in Superman’s world, that all that is a possibility.

Addressing a couple of fan complaints…

People have been like ‘there’s no kryptonite in the movie!’ and ‘there’s no Lex Luthor in the movie!’, and by no means am I saying those things don’t exist, I’m just saying he didn’t run into them here [this time].

On the film’s ”Smallville” references (look closely for homages to the characters of Chloe and Whitney)

Ya know, [TVs Smallville is] in the Superman mythology now. I was interested in that kind of homage to the mythology. I feel it’s not so much about paying more homage to the series, it’s just in the vernacular of Superman now.

“We almost destroyed the world last time, now what!?’

Or in other words, what are you gonna do when you are not saving the world? :D

Just watched Doug Walker's Sibling Rivalry review and gotta say I pretty much disagree with everything said. Apparently writing yourself into a corner and resembling nothing to do with anything previously is a "very Chris Nolan thing to do".

Henry on Justice League

Taking about the project, that could potentially rival Marvel's The Avengers, he said: 'I think it would be great to do, but I don't think it's around the corner.
Henry believes that a lot of obstacles have to be overcome before the project goes ahead - it
which would also feature other DC Comics heroes such as Batman, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern to the big screen.
The star feels that it would be difficult to introduce otherworldly characters such as Wonder Woman and Green Lantern into the gritty, realistic world created by 'Man of Steel'.'So in this real world universe, real world setting we're telling our story in, it's going to be tough to achieve that.
'It has to be done very delicately with a lot of thought. So, it won't be right away. I hope it's not, anyway.
'It may take some time of building up other movies and other characters and introducing them together in one way or another.'

Dunno whether he means that in he needs to go bigger or if he is dealing with the ramifications of the events. I hope the latter but I fear he means the former.

Real men cry...:oldrazz:

My Grandmother took me to see SUPERMAN: The Movie when I was very small. Both in the theatre and whenever it was broadcast on tv as a child/pre teen whenever it came to the scene where Superman finds Lois' lifless body, and then starts to breakdown she would lean in an tell me "You see... Superman cries. It's okay to cry." I think about that whenever I see that scene. My grandmother is still alive, sharp as ever (She's older than Supes is, being born in 1932) but when she finally does leave us I will have that memory, and advice with me always. The strongest, most powerful man on the planet still cries. If it's okay for him, it's okay for you and me. I have to go now... There's something in my eye I think.

no kryptonite and no Lex? Are those the complaints Zach Snyder thinks people are having with the film? lol

“We almost destroyed the world last time, now what!?’

This scares me

"I hope it's not, anyway."
Yeah, I agree with Henry, no JL yet :p

MoS2 and a WF first please! :awesome:

Damn you read my mind... I hope this is what Zack will bring to the trilogy. This would make an epic trilogy for sure.

Cavill's wiser than I thought he'd be.

Most men in his position would probably be like "yeah, bring on Justice League now, it's cool."
