Can't wait to hear that badass guitar theme again in the film.

When it kicked it, I went "Hell yeah!" Best part about it is the natural progression to that "aggressive theme". It's in line with the character development and it's awesome.

I can't be the only one who thinks this "Superman Fanboy" is a troll, right? It's too obvious.

Are you kidding me? I'm never that and I Love our DC Films! And was happy to hear the great word of mouth from our fellow hypers!! So tell me who you are again Mr. 31 posts User

I may as well get straight to the point. It's the best DC film since The Dark Knight. It's not even a contest. This film has that one thing both MoS and BvS lacked - heart. This film defines exactly who Diana is and never once questions why she believes what she believes. A leader, an inspiration, a bright light in a dark time, it's someone who wants to change things for the better and the film embraces that. Patty Jenkins has captured the essence of who Diana is in all her glory.

I'll preface everything by saying the film is not without it's faults. The first 20 mins or so feels incredibly clunky as the story tries to fit in who the Amazons are and what their history is. And the lack of any real exploration of Themyscirca was also disappointing. Overall I feel the Amazons were short shifted a little bit with very little time given to really develop relationships, especially between Diana and Hippolyta. It almost feels like a weird prologue that doesn't really fit with the rest of the movie

But the film picks up once Steve Trevor arrives and Diana leaves with him for London. Anyone worried about Marvel-like humour needn't worry. The fish out of water elements that bring out most of the humour works much like the levity in The Dark Knight, nothing feels written for the sake of making the audience laugh and instead feels like the kind of humour that comes naturally in conversation.

It's during this time that Diana slowly learns how this world works, she questions the decisions made during times of war and the effects it has on people, never once being satisfied with the answers she's given. It's here where her inspiration to others start to take effect as she literally charges across a battlefield. It's this type of thing that has been missing in the last couple of movies, a character who wants to help and doesn't take no for an answer.

In terms of cast, I was never won over by Gal in BvS and none of the trailers lead me to believe anything was going to be different. I still feel there's a clear level of difference between her and the rest of the cast, and she still has limitations in terms of her range, but overall she does well. She has good chemistry with Chris Pine, it might be one of the best superhero relationships that's been capture on film, and she undoubtably has a warmth that comes through on screen.

For the action it's pretty good for the most part, although Patty seems to have taken a few too many Zack Snyder slow-mo pills which makes some of the sequences feel awkward, and there's some noticeable CG elements that feel distracting. The final set piece feels a little all over the place at times but not to the point of ruining the movie. The score blends in with the film pretty well, but that annoying guitar theme music does make an appearance though which felt completely out of place with the tone of the film.

Overall, this is oh-so close to being a great movie. A few changes here and there and I think it's as good as TDK or Logan, but alas it falls ever so short. Agonisingly short. There are clear influences from both Superman: The Movie and Batman Begins, it seems fitting the first movie from Wonder Woman would follow in those films footstep.

8/10

Great review JMC. What did you rate Dark Knight, Dark Knight Rises and Logan?

I know I'll have my own opinion on the film as we all will --however just hearing how themyscira stuff wasn't explored and was short lived and shafted breaks my heart to hear because of my love of the amazons and the Island! Also hearing that the Island scenes seem to have no character development is sad to hear! hearing the action seems to be too much slow motion, distracting CGI, And that the Final Set piece is all over the place! I'm Sorry to kinda feel let down a bit even though I shouldn't be I know. It's just a ton of what I was looking forward to the most in the film seems to not hit with jmc that well and now I'm like "Oh no what should I expect now"

IMO the Themyscira stuff was explored just enough. I wouldn't say it was shafted. Could have been explored a bit more, sure. But it was done really well. The slow motion might have seemed excessive, but I thought it was kind of necessary. It gives the viewers the chance to appreciate how the Amazons move, and what they are actually doing, instead of becoming a blur of motions you struggle to keep up with. Final set piece could have used tighter editing IMO, but if you're gonna do a CGI set piece, you have to do it like this. It was handled really well because of the emotional weight attached to it.

The amount of posts I've made has nothing to do with who I am.

Just a person gives a movie an 8/10, and you react with even more worries? It's fishy.

TDK and Logan I gave 9. From memory I gave Rises a 6 or 7. I have a love/hate relationship with Rises.

Excellent, that gives me more perspective. Thank you.

It has everything to do with the fact that I have never heard of you and if you actually let me post my reasons why I felt that way (which I did) you would understand! Don't accuse me of being a user troll or anyone for that matter!

jmc is a pretty harsh critic of the DCEU and in general, i would take it the score.

Like i said before, the CG would've been subpar no matter how good or bad the movie was. WB rarely has access to top tier CG companies for their films.

This is better than all of the MCU movies, to me.

Thank you for the response my friend I do appreciate it and helps maintain the sudden "oh no" feeling! Good to know it all works out fine instead of 'don't expect it'! You Always been a good support here

Do you take every opinion as fact? It's not like Roger Ebert came back from the dead and said this.

When you do it once, it's fine. When the majority of your comments are "I'm worried 'sad emoji'", you can't blame me for being doubtful.

That may be but I think the work they did for MOS and BvS was phenomenal so I have a feeling I'll end up loving this one as well.

Im sorry I'm not aware the majority of my comments are like that? So what have I been talking about for 400+ posts of my life on SHH?? Only time I put that was for my reaction at the moment in response to jmc review! Am I not allowed to give my reaction! Doubtful is entirely different from Accusations --you just don't go accusing someone of trolling when you 1) Don't know me & 2) research me and my posts from at least the past week to know I'm Anything but That!!

You'd think that with the amount of times they used it in the movie they were overdoing it....but no, I never got tired of it, it never freakin' fails in getting you all hyped and excited. Adrenaline rush while sitting down.

People, people, calm down. Do you not see? We finally have a RT certified fresh DCEU movie! The days of fighting are behind us!

JMC thank you for your review of the movie; it was a pleasure to read and considering it's the best comic book movie since TDK for you is always great to hear!! Especially from what I'm hearing is your not a huge fan of the first 3 DCEU movies! I hope you would love to go see it again

I'm not gonna go back and check from your history from the get go, but from the past few weeks I've been here, you've been "worrying" a lot, to the point where it became unrealistic
