Ann Wolf talking about the movie

https://***********/annwolfeboxing

I wish she had more screen time as well. But what she did have was memorable. The rock that no one could knock off the stand, and when Diana knocked Antiope back with her powers, there's this little nod she gives to Diana.

I have to say, this was a really enjoyable movie.

Left the theater with a smile and some renewed hope for the DC films. Wonder Woman was just a kind of inspiring character. She goes through her adventure and comes out of it a more complete character. But not one that has given up on people, but rather one that just accepts humanity for the mixed bag we are.

Not a perfect film, but I had a good time. Looking forward to seeing more of her in Justice League.

Great to see Robin Wright whom will forever be Buttercup to me, involved with a super hero film like Wonder Woman.

So far the influences on this film that I (personally) have noticed are:

1. Superman the movie
2. The Little Mermaid
3. Pocahontas
4. Titanic
5. Frozen
6. Captain America: The First Avenger
7. Roman Holiday
8. Splash

You should add Thor in there too. I read an article which pointed out some interesting parallel between the first Thor and this movie.

The first Thor film always gave off Donner Superman vibes to me in many ways.

That said, "character with super natural origin is fish out of water in the mundane world" was a film trope long before the Thor film was a thing.

I do think that both WW and Thor as characters had many of the same hurdles to overcome in terms of realizing them on the big screen and both films passed with flying colors.

Zack and Patty have got to be two of the hottest most classy directors in the business right now.

He's suing. Which, whatever. That means it could (unlikely) go all the way to supreme Court which means no all men's golf club, no Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts, no All Men or All Women schools, no men or women sports teams... But that is the opposite of what that dude wants.

So he was not allowed to enter? LMAO.

Whomever Patty's SO is, is very lucky.

I actually read Sam Sheridan's (her husband's) book "The Disaster Diaries" which is a book about surviving potential disasters, surviving the apocalypse. Guess like "Doomsday Preppers." He was worried about whether he knew enough about protecting his family.

So... Lucky and prepared? :sly:

I saw the rest of the Patty Jenkins interview on Conan:

She was nicknamed Wonder Woman at school. But the reason she got the nickname was she tripped over in the cafeteria one day and someone said, "Good job, Wonder Woman."

She said she is very animated when she directs, acting out scenes and being very loud. She gets so involved she sometimes forgets about her appearance, with unbrushed hair and wearing sweatpants.

She talks about how she would be directing Gal and Chris so much all day that she started thinking she was them. But then she watched the dailies and saw herself walk into the shot, talking loud and looking shorter next to them, and realised she wasn't them at all.

Conan asked about how the Amazons are all different shapes and sizes and not all the exact same model look. Patty says they searched for the best athletes and fighters all around the world. She couldn't just cast models because if she met someone who was beautiful but looked liked even she could beat them up she didn't hire them.

Women fighters and men fighters are different in that men have more showmanship and add extra moves but women just want to get the job done in as few moves as possible.

She wants to direct the sequel, that is the plan, but they are still working it out.

Thanks for the recap :)

This is actually a very good point from Patty. The idea that female heroes have to be so tough to the point of rejecting love is unrealistic, and frankly, just flat out boring. If there's a good take away from WW it's that love and heroism often go hand in hand.

True about Jenkins' statement.

I read your review --glad to know that you enjoyed Wonder Woman. You have earn more points as SHH's Artist-in-residence. heh

Does anyone else think the face reaches its most attractive at the mid way point?

As I mentioned before to BN a couple of months ago, and now especially after watching Wonder Woman, Gadot looked incredibly similar to my old friend when we were younger with one difference --said friend has a more warmer, capative smile and a drop dead fabulous body (we used to swim together). I was so unnerved during Woman Woman showing by Gadot's facial similarity to my old friend.
