It's a bad situation already no need to play it up even more or play it down either to be fair.

so filming starts in the fall and they have to start with a new script from scratch.......

and nobody is worried?

They aren't starting with a new script from scratch....

Even if they were 6 months isn't long enough time to write a script?

Why is it a bad situation? Sometimes these things happen in Hollywood. In fact I think its a good thing. If WB and Maclauren couldn't agree on anything then this proves WB isn't going to just let this movie happen and want to make sure its the best movie possible.
Not every director is good for comicbookfilms....its not a knock against her...a lot of male haven't figured it out.

Because we don't know that they "have to start with a new script from scratch." That's an assumption.

Is it a known fact that this will be a period piece or not?

You are looking too much into my words, I'm not doom and gloomy about her dropping out but it is never good to part ways with a director 6 months before shooting.

I'm sure it was the right decision for Maclaren and the studio but ideally they would have signed on a director who they saw eye to eye with the first time. That is the ideal situation.

If she dropped out a month or two before filming I would be leery but 6 months gives them time to hire another director who is a better fit for the project.

It is not known

Alright.

I was just thinking about the Young Justice toon. One thing I loved about it was how much world building went into that show, especially in terms of the timeline. That version of WW is seemingly immortal.

Shame about MacLaren... but not a HUGE loss in my opinion. WB have enough time to find a suitable (perhaps even better) replacement.

I know Whedon wants to do his own things now, but man, I'd love to see his Wonder Woman.

I don't like Whedon's take at all. He wanted to make her a goddess and not the Greek myth kind. He wanted WW to be pure and naive, more like a Judeo-Christian angel,, and have Steve Trevor teach her humanity. That sounds like the opposite of how she should be. WW is the most human of gods and demigods and she teaches everyone else.

Yes... Chapter 14 in the novel of the Rise and Fall of Frank Miller

I remember reading The Dark Knight Strikes Again and thinking Frank Miller lost his mind.

Then I tried watch The Spirit, and that confirmed it.

@jfalli86 Let's just say I'm glad she is out.

Sorry, but who is Flaurent Soki?

IDK.. someone that read Badassdigest post about the matter?

WB are known for hiring a director, believing in them and giving them the necessary/appropriate freedom to do their thing (for the most part).

If they felt MacLaren was ultimately wrong for the project, then I have no problem with this decision.

Agreed. No Whedon for "Wonder Woman", please.

"All-Star Batman and Robin" is actually very fun to read. It is a complete mess, a bastardization of the character and Miller proves there what I thought for years - that he is a talentless, sexist, cheap neo-noir hack, but it is genuinely fun. It is so terrible that I actually enjoyed it immensely.

Today those are my feelings on the situation.

I like Whedon but I was never overly excited about the idea of him handling Wonder Woman. I don't get why people think he is a good fit for the project?

Agreed! I'm sure they will hire a director who is the right fit whether that person is male or female should not matter at this point.

Jon Campea is a knucklhead. Did anyone watch AMC news today? God Lord, he thinks he knows ****.

Director gender should not matter, but WB will take some **** if her replacement isn't a woman. They made a big deal about the whole thing in the first place. I actually think a woman writer is far more important to have for WW.

I said so while ago, when they were still looking for director from that list. I find it much more important for the film than having female director.

Granted, there are men that can write good female characters, but if we're talking about having a woman at any of those two positions, I would go for a scriptwriter.

Woman writer would be nice...but it would not be the end all be all either.
