All Things Wonder Woman: An Open Discussion

I totally buy that there was tension created by how to present Trevor. For myself more or less the way the 2009 DTV did it is the best. He's not a "wimp" but it's obvious who the focus and the main character and "hero" of the piece is. It's Diana. I can see the WB people guiding the DCCU saying, "you can't get too radical here, because if Trevor comes off as a wimp and incompetent there is a good slice of the target audience that will be turned off and wonder (no pun) what the Amazing Amazon sees in him in the first place?"

Not too mention, even in the male led Supehero films, what type of characterization and plot use do we prefer these days? I will take TAS-M's Gwen Stacy over the Raimi films' Mary Jane any day of the week. Give me Anne Hathaway's Selina Kyle over Katie Holmes' Racheal. I mean even if you are being saved by the hero at least be a character with some meat on your bones and being presented well ala Adams or Kidder's Losis Lane, neither of which came off as incompetent or being there just to be eye candy.

Apply those same rules to Trevor, just admit up front that he's about out of his depth, as any normal, mortal man would be, when dealing with the powers and machinations of gods and monsters and other sernatural forces. That's fine. If Maclaren was thinking of presenting him like a male Dunst styled Mary Jane, then I get why that could be seen as a problem, while getting why she would see that as a natural gender flip move given the genre and the character. I just think that if that was the bone of contention, all things being equal, choose to not alienate a portion of the audience that would be turned off by that portrayal of Steve.

I have mixed feeling about the 09 DTVbut mostly positive. However, I do feel they handled they Diana/Steve dynamic absolutely perfect.

Based on the "Monster" alone, I think that Jenkins is better choice than many from that list and that were mentioned here (Hardwicke, Kusama, Jolie...).

Regarding Trevor... he shouldn't be a "wimp" at all. Diana should be the clear hero of the film, but Trevor should be a hero in his own right. The key is, he's human and probably doesn't have a Batman/Tony Stark-level arsenal at his disposal, so he can't match up against enemies who could give Diana a run for her money. But he should be more than competent and able to take care of himself against any non-superhuman threats.

Yeah, their relationship has potential to really be good. He has that ''man'' pride though, and it would hurt at first that he can't protect her, but it would be great to see him accept the fact of her ''saving him'' if the moment comes.

Yeah, that would be an interesting thing to see... Steve coming to grips with the fact that there aren't many occasions where he could actually save her. I'm sure there are ways it could happen, but it's pretty unlikely.

Exactly.

I wonder how much longer the sword on her back is. I imagine it can't be too long since Gadot did dual wielding swords training.

It would be crazy if we saw her switching fighting styles: lasso and sword , sword and shield, dual swords.

I want this move of hers in a movie. Any movie.

Superman and Batman have their cape porn. Wondie's got hair porn.

Also, PAN is being pushed back to October. Wise moves by WB's overall.

Now lets hope they provide this WW film some breathing room and space from that overcrowded June 2017 release date and push WW to an early August 2017 release date.

Doing this will give her and the filmmakers the space they will need for her solo debut on the big acreen to be successful.

Do you guys think that we might see a "sidekick" or "partner" for Wonder Woman in the future (not in the first movie)? Like Falcon on CA2.

Donna, or Cassie, or even Artemis...

I wish I could say yes, but... Nah... I think it's possible for the Julia and Vanessa to perhaps be in the mix or a version of Etta Candy but I aint too sure about Donna or Cassie, though Artemis/Aleka could be a supporting character.

That many writers? I believe some of them are the options, not actually all of them on the same script. Michael Goldenberg was rumoured way before even BvS.

So it's definitely an origin then. Alright, glad to hear it. So it'll be a BVS prequel, just hopefully not a period piece.

I'm far more interested in seeing the politics and world of paradise island over a modern or period setting.

What if they change it so the lasso doesn't force people to tell the truth, but let Diana knows if they are telling the truth or not? Like Daredevil listening heartbeats...

She would feel the heartbeats and/or feel some magical vital energies, IDK...

It would make it sound less silly and it's more in line with the polygraph allusion. And it would depend on her own skills to analyze the signs and to make strategic questions in order to know what she wants.
