Am I the only one on this planet who still doesn't have a clue who Dane Cook is?

Just wondering. His name is everywhere these days, and I haven't seen him in a thing.

dane cook looks like a coke'd up Ryan Renolds

Oh, I know what he looks like, don't get me wrong. Just don't understand what he's from.

I think he's some crappy ass comedian

Ive heard he is a comedian. apparently. But I like Eddie Izzard, so I dont know much about comedy. *cough*

He's a comedian. He's been in a few films, "Waiting" being the only one that comes to mind at this moment. His act consists of saying random, bizarre things and acting like a complete spazz which somehow makes some people think he's a genius.

he was also in "Simon Sez" with Dennis Rodman

LOL, okay. I probably wouldn't be a fan then ;)

I had one of his cds I dont think he is that funny, I remember when I landed in boston I saw everyone with a dane cook t shirt :(

Apparently he was "The Waffler" - a superhero that uses a waffle iron to subdue villians in the movie Mystery Men. So there's yer SHH conection right there. :o

Gawly, so he's been around a while. That's weird.

Must have been a bit part in the scene where they are auditioning for new members. They eventually went with The Bowler as I recall.

I think he's pretty funny personally...mostly observational humor

He's got a movie coming out on Sept. 15 called "Employee of the Month" which looks pretty good (not Wedding Crashers good, but decent).

I don't understand what most people on this board have against him, he's no worse than any of the other comedians out there right now...hell his recent album was the highest selling by any comedian since Steve Martin in the 70's.

While I will admit he is no Steve Martin (or Carlin, or Pryor) these days nobody is...but he's good fo rhis generation of comedy...

i friggin' love his stand ups... what can i say? i guess it's just my type of humor. but i agree, he's definately not for everyone, he is pretty random at times.

"Tourgasm" + "Lucky Louie" = Worst hour of 'comedy' television ever.

Here's some of his stuff on Youtube. Personally, I don't find his material very funny (or cerebral), but his delivery is unique and sometimes funny all on it's own and I think that's why some people think he's so great. He's a B-List comedian as far as his material goes, though.

well, in his defense, that's from his first big stand up (harmful if swallowed) which isn't nearly as good as his second (retalliation) and that's not really a good part, either.

and yeah... tourgasm is not funny. i don't know how, but it's not. and who the crap thought lucky louie was a good idea? a laugh track? i didn't know shows still used those!

Meh. Everything I've ever seen him do as far as standup has been really light on real material and more him just giving his trademarked, strange style of delivery which he uses to cover up for the quality of what he's actually saying. He's not really a "thinking man's comedian" in my book. If people like him, that's great. He's just not for me. When there are guys like Stephen Lynch, Daymon Wayans (the funny Wayans brother), Brian and Dennis Regan, Pat Godwin, Rodney Carrington, Paul Gilmartin, Greg Hahn, Chris Rock, Drew Hastings, Jimmy Pardo, David Crowe, Emo Philips, Larry Reeb and so many others out there touring and performing who have some genuinely smart and fresh material, a guy who just freaks out on stage with nothing real to say doesn't have a lot of staying power in my mind. If he's smart, he'll transition over into film as much as possible, because I think people are going to get tired of his act sooner or later. That's just me, though. :)

i've never heard of any of those comedians you listed except for chris rock, though...
