Am I the only one who is actually pleased with Green Arrow?

I thought Hartley did a good job, I liked the voice change especially.

I wasn't too thrilled with the hood and glasses costume, but I guess they had to hide his face somehow. Though with Lois not having a clue as to who GA is after going to a party with Oliver dressed almost the SAME, with arrows... well, that just speaks of her future as the best investigative reporter around while still not deducing Clark's lame disguise for years. :D

P.S. This GA is really great, I'm enjoying his appearances more and more. Forget Batman, he's overused as it is. :o

As someone who was hating on the guy before hand (specifically the costume, which i still dont like) hes easily the best part of the season so far.

This show made quiet a few mistakes and has completely removed itself from any continuity just like the Superboy series from the 70's. However, I'm kind of into how they're introducing other heroes. Flash, Aquaman, and now Green Arrow. I'm interested to see who they can bring in next. Maybe J'onn J'onnz. He could even be an adult as he's a martian and doesn't necessarily age as we do. Keeping in mind that he's a shape shifter passing as human opens all kinds of possibilities.

Wow, an entire storyline just popped into my head that involves Clark hearing a voice compelling him to go to a secret lab where he ends up meeting and freeing a captive martian.

HEY! David, long time no see. Rock on dude! :D ;)

I imagine that such an attempt would get no futher than Mercy Reef did.

I don't know. I personally think it could work. He's a billionaire, so already that helps set it apart from Smallville. He's got an actual secret identity to protect. You can do political-esque stories. There's no high school drama stuff to deal with. Mix in a few DC guests every now and then (with Dinah Lance playing a big part in Ollie's life).

It could work. Plus, with Mercy Reef those underwater effects were EXPENSIVE.

1)The Superboy television show came out in the late 80's and concluded in the early 90's, shortly before Lois and Clark (which debuted in the early 90's and concluded in the mid/late 90's.

2)Smallville was never intended to follow the continuity at any given point, because Clark and Lex never grew up together. Clark never met Lois in Smallville. If we go from Byrne and his Man of Steel origin, then Clark never even did super heroic acts until he left for Metropolis. Smallville exists within the Smallville Universe. So it really owes nothing to any continuity, other than it's own. I mean come on...he isn't even Superboy, let alone Superman, yet he's already met Flash, Aquaman, Green Arrow and Cyborg.

3)What don't you like about the costume Darthphere? Do you dislike the "Long Bow Hunters" costume? Or is it the shades? I'm sure that probably seems too modern for some fans tastes.

4)I imagine that filming for CG in Mercy Reef would be expensive. And under water units would be costly in terms of filming equipment and safety experts to keep the cast safe...but look at how much CG they use in smallville. And they do a lot of action stunts. I'm sure the costs are comparable. Really I think Mercy Reef just fell victim to the classic syndrome that befalls super hero television shows. The Incredible Hulk television show got cancelled, for no other reason, than the fact that the network running it, had already amassed so many comic book based shows. They feared being stereotyped as "the super hero network." Superboy got 86'd, because Warner Bros didn't want two Superman related shows on television at the same time (even though the networks carrying them, would have been different). Even fox cancelled Spider-Man TAS and X-Men TAS because they did not like Marvel having the largest portion of ratings on the network (as they were non-original programming from the network itself). Super hero shows always seem to bite the bullet. Hopefully with Smallville's continued success, and the introduction of Heroes, the stigma will be broken.

theyre afraid we fanboys willl take over the world

all this sounds amazing- green arrow is an amazing character- its a pity to hear he is not funny in this. i'm waiting in anticipation because the new season of Smallville does not start in the UK until January on E4.

He is funny...

Why did you think he wasn't? When he first sees Lana on Lex's arm at a party Oliver says, with amazement in his voice: "Lex Luthor, with a girl he doesn't have to inflate."

:D

He gets some good ones in. I like Oliver a lot in Smallville.

How 'bout the one directed at Lois, asking her if she was doing a Tomb Raider impression (I forget the actual line, but it was funny.) She says something about his ass, and then he quips fer shame, he's been putting extra effort into his gluts recently.

Yeah, he's a funny guy. They give him good lines. My favorite is where he suggest that Clark might get a sense of humor some day. That's was PRICELESS!

Batman: "Do me a favor, Clark. Lose the sense of humor."
Superman: "Do us BOTH a favor, Bruce. Buy a sense of humor."

Reading that I was thinking it would be nice to see Clark banter back with him. But then I remembered Clark's line in the last episode about "laughing on the inside".

I really like the Clark/Ollie relationship mostly because I like what Ollie brings out in Clark. A sense of ease and comfort with himself, in a different way than Chloe does.

I think Clark is starting to feel that he's got a buddy that he can relate to, even if their methods dont exactly match.

Good points... It's nice he has that complete sense of ease with Ollie he's never really had with any other male friend. Not even or with Lex, even while they were still friends.

I like Oliver a lot and I think he is very good for Clark which is very good for me.

:D

I strongly agree. Their banter is so much fun to watch, but I also love seeing Clark have a "guy" friend that knows everything about him. It gives him a chance to totally be himself.

The line about "laughing on the inside," and Ollie's comeback of "maybe it'll bubble to the surface," was adorable and just the kind of thing you can imagine two buddies ribbing each other about.

I've read that classic Ollie is a bit of a womanizer.. and I think that they've also made a few nods to acknowledge that. Did anyone else get the impression at that party he attended with Lois, that the Senator's wife had some kind of "past" with him? Or she was at least very flirty when she purred her hello to him. And in Reunion, he gave Lana a major once-over look as she was leaving Lex's library. His meeting with Chloe was very gentlemanly, after all, he's dating her cousin, but it practically blew her skirt up. LOL.. He does ooze the charm to the ladies.

I do like that Ollie and Clark can be friends and completly themselves when they are around eachother. Though he is not Clark's first male friend that he could be open with. Pete ring a bell with anyone.

All great points, networks don't want to be known as the Superhero network. I really believe a group of fanboys in the business put together a Superhero network, first on tv then radio or other way around, then we can have our superhero shows.

Lineup like this: Smallville being the staple show, followed by either a GA series staring Justin or bring back Mercy Reef with Justin or have both and see how Alan Ritchson does in the Justice episode. Mix in some Marvel tv shows.

I actually have done a mock Superhero radio show, when I find the tape I will upload and let everyone hear it. :gl:

I don't think Pete ever put Clark at ease like Ollie apparently does.

Knowing Clark's secret was something that was clearly a burden for Pete and he reminded Clark of that over and over again.

This is something that Ollie doesn't seem concerned with.

^^^that's true I actually never thought about that, Pete did hate knowing about Clark.

Well, I mean, what does he care. He is the Green Arrow. :D

Pete loved the trust that Clark had with him, but I always felt Pete wasnt sure whether he could uphold that trust and that created some tension within their relationship.

i always felt like pete was a lil bit jealous of clark

who wouldnt. i think anyone would be if they didnt really think about the difficulties in sharing their secret and the other factors that make clark so tormented inside

you want to see tormented? just wait until everyone in clark's life dies.
