I liked the Bruce Jones run ok back in '03 when I started getting back into comics, but trying to figure out which incarnation of the Hulk Jones was using was very confusing to me. Especially since the Hulk's personality would literally change from issue to issue if it somehow served Jones better.

I think it's an ok run aswell, Abominable was actually really good, the plot was just so complicated for it to make a good read. I agree with the Hulk aswell, he didn't seem to be a familiar incarnation but a new one with with the others mixed in.

I think they'll do a banner centric arc when the red hulk arc ends, banner hasn't had his own in a few years now, mainly because those issues aren't very popular, people like to see the hulk.

honestly banner is my real favorit character in comicdome. I mean yea you get a lot of the cool stuff with the hulk but he is just a part of the whole, storys about banner are awsome...and might I say well written.

banner stores are good...but when they go 5 issues with a glimpse of the hulk it pisses me off.

Anyone have a clue as to when was the last time The Savage Hulk was last seen in the Marvel Universe?

I'm aware the Savage Hulk made some appearances alongside Mr. Fixit, and The Professor in Banner's psyche during their confrontation with either the Devil, or Guilt Hulk (or both) shortly after the debut of the current volume, but that's about it ...

i think the last time savage hulk was seen was probably the bruce jones run. but then again, who knows, since they were never really clear on which incarnation was present. he was savage when he was trashing vegas and ben grimm, although he was gray, but still rather brutish and dangerous.

Gravage is my favorite. So I like a Hulk that can articulate himself but who is brief and succinct. But who when enraged he should start to slip into the third person talk.

I never want to see Hulk in any type of spandex like other heroes, and I don't mind him in regular clothes. I like the WWH gladiator gear.

savage hulk shows up on and off in the early issues of incredible hulk V2 but when you get into issue 34 and on its a crap shoot.

This was his last regular appearance as "The" Hulk, anyway.

Absolutely right Obi. The very next issue, Banner's mind took over Hulk's body. That was early 80's and Hulk hasn't been that pure Savage personality for the last 27 years....that's nutty to think about. That was before I even collected comics...before most present day readers were even alive!

Looking back though. The Professor version used during the Pantheon stuff wasnt bad. I especially liked it once the fail safe made it so he would revert to puny Bruce Banner when he got mad...Now that was a refreshing take.

I agree.

I grew up getting my first ever Hulk comics in 92/93 so I grew up reading PAD's "professor" Hulk. And the stories were great! PAD did an awesome job on the Hulk and thus I am biased towards liking that incarnation a lot. However, the Hulk personality used in PAD's last six-issue stint and used throughout Planet Hulk and WWH is my all time favorite.

He has the coolest parts of the Savage Hulk as far as strength increasing with rage and the classic "Hulk smash" moments, plus he has the meanness of the "Joe Fixit" Hulk. This allows for such great possibilities as far as fighting/smashing, but there are also a lot of things about the Hulk's personality that are interesting and that adds a lot to the story.

He's a monster who always ends up saving people and doing really good stuff, and after he saves the day people still fear and hate him and call him a monster. And Bruce Banner is ****ing cool too. Bruce Jones' run, decompressed as it may have been, reads pretty damn good from start to finish, IMO. And when you're on the run it really wouldn't make sense for Banner to change every single issue. There can still be action and cool story without him changing into the Hulk.

Really doesn't like the idea of a "Smart Hulk?"
Like the Hulk who wears normal clothes (nice pants, shoes, tank top or t-shirt), and talks like a normal person?
It's bugged me since I was a kid. Banner's mind controlling the Hulk's body.
I always liked the Savage Hulk, who wore ripped pants, no shirt or a tattered shirt, and screamed and had no self control and would say stuff like "Hulk smash!".

Now, I also haven't given this "Smart Hulk" a chance yet. I haven't read into alot of him. So maybe he's not all that bad. But I hear alot of good things about that whole story arc.

And now I come here and Hulk's red, wtf? I haven't been able to pick any comics of any sort up in a long time.

No i agree, i hate the Hulk who can talk and act normally, the Savage Hulk intrigues me much more.

While the Savage Hulk is the Hulk I read for the first 10 years or so and really got me into the character, I do appreciate all the different personalities the Hulk has been through, it has added some depth to the storylines. I think that if they had kept with the "Hulk Smash" for the last 25 years, the comic would have been cancelled at some point.
