Can't find the #557 thread, so here's my thoughts on #557-558.

#557-

There was some great panel work during the initial stand off between the lord of death and webhead. The inter-panel effect used by Bachelo to convey the deity's incomprehensible movement was a particularly cool.

'I AM ALL PLACES'
'TIME CANNOT HOLD ME.'
'YOU ARE A PAINTING IN A CAVE YOU ARE RIGHT TO FLEE.'

The combination of the Mayan theme and the deity as a sparring partner prob makes this my fav BND arc thus far.
I thought Rabin becoming possessed and the prisoners behind bars dieing was quite creepy.

Spidey's new friend and his buds coming to help out in the stand off with the deity was nice. The entity getting set alight and webbed up made for some cool visuals and I liked Spidey beating Rabin to a bloody pulp too . This issue gets a thumbs up/high five from me. I still don't see of what benefit the marriage being erased and Harry resurrected have to offer these story's .

How the heck is Spidey going to feed himself for the next week since he just gave away his last 20 bucks?!!!!... Guess I'll find out next issue.
(Or not, as Spidey does not eat during #558)

The return of Freak and Menace ... interesting....

So Spidey and Conners are anticipating Freaks return now the snow is gone and are planning on dropping two blocks of maximum PH Quicklime on his ass in order to induce/maintain his chrysalis stage.
Cool.
Quick internet check later, okay I know what Quicklime is now .

I liked the scene in which JJ returned home to Marla's video message re: selling the Daily Bugle. It's funny, most of the time I tend to forget JJ is married by token of how rarely Marla is in the books. I like the way the sub-plots are bubbling along at their own pace, and not only that but they are fun to read too! this was not a great issue, but neither was it crap.

Barry Kitson draws a cool Menace, but in terms of human faces it looks like everyone in the book is from the same genepool, and this can be annoying. Bob Gale's Spidey quips were right on the money and had me laughing-

Menace- 'IF THAT'S THE BEST YOU CAN DO, YOU'RE TOAST!'
Spidey- 'TOAST?, COULD'NT I BE A BAGEL INSTEAD? OR AN ENGLISH MUFFIN? OR WHEAT CAKES? I LOVE WHEAT CAKES.'

hAHAHAHHAHAH!!!!!

By comparison the showdown with Freak at the Junkyard was not as good as the Menace encounter, but I think Freak is a pretty original character. I guess he is going to be wrapped up for some time until Osborn sicks him on Spidey.

I almost spunked myself when I saw the the ad for ASM in August on the last page featuring the one and only JRJR!
Goddamn he is good at drawing Spidey and MJ! No way I can miss out on any JRJR so I'll be picking those issues up the day they hit.
WAY EXCITED!

I just wish Harry was still dead, bringing him back has been TOTALLY pointless so far. As for PP and MJ,- I know know one really cares, by that I mean their age is never touched upon, nor is aging, but am I right to believe that despite the huge mind wipe- PP and MJ are still continuing to age and are not frozen as 26 yr olds?

EDIT- Even tho she is a generic tan barbie, I reckon Lily is pretty hot!
