Comics Amazing Spider-Man #600 discussion thread

So I was creating a thread about One more day.
and all the clues I caught thus far.

............and I got royally screwed
because when I type long posts I usually use the notepad to ensure that I have a back up copy so I won't have to write it again.

It was very well done. and before I got to post or even save the copy. My electricity was cut off for half a second.

So yea....I'm pretty mad right now.
It was a great effort too. and I think I may have picked up on some things that some people have missed, or I haven't really seen talked about.

Maybe I'll try posting again later. but for now I'm going to take a break.

You think THAT'S infuriating? Wait until it happens when you're typing a college term paper that's due the next morning. You haven't saved for 2 or 3 pages and suddenly *bam* computer freezes or shuts down. And the professor never believes it, due to the "cry wolf" syndrome with his other students. You only make that mistake once. Now, whatever I'm doing, if it's anything of value, I write it in Microsoft word and save it in a folder AND on my USB constantly (like every paragraph).

Yeah, that's no fun either. I've been there.
I usually just feel really depressed if something happens to them.
but I type pretty fast so it only takes me about an hour and a half to write a 5 page report. Maybe a little long to check it.

Luckily I was on the dean's list and it was near the end of the year (I only made one major flaw and I was dealing with 2 losses and a dirty girlfriend) Even though it was alot of work, my prof. let me make it up. :yay:

With this or e-mail messages I'm mad (at myself) because I should know better. Yet I continue to make the same mistake thinking "it'll be fine. Nothings gonna happen."

Sure enough something always happens. lol :cwink:

Well I belatedly read it today. It is literally my FIRST ISSUE OF ASM (or any Spidey) SINCE OMD.

So, I'm late to this conversation. It was very well written by Slott, the main story that is. He has a knack to get the carefree Spidey and the swinger Peter (as well as the serious Peter prior to BND) down pat. Watching Spidey interact with the FF, and Johnny inparticular, was a real joy.

It was nice seeing Aunt May get married and it had the breezy feel of a story arc from the '70s or early '80s.

Except...not.

I don't know it just felt hollow. I feel it is that we have seen this all before. I mean it is nice to see this breezy writing, but I really don't see hiwo this comic or story really benefitted from the retro retcon. Doc Ock dying (yeah, right) and Aunt May getting married while Peter interacted with his supporting cast is not impossible. But it is cool to see a supporting cast again and JJJ as a mayor.

It is really joyous. But I don't feel seeing Peter going dateless and Aunt May hinting at him to find someone to settle down with works. Because it is just a "been there, done that" atmosphere. It is like a lamenated character or reading an ARchie comic.

And it came full circile at the end with seeing MJ again. We know this cannot last. It will fall apart and she is being reintroduced a la MJ 1967, save even Aunt May is unhappy to see her this time. She is the "other" or "party" girl. Do I want to read Peter and MJ slowly falling in love, learning each other's depths and to trust each other again?--before another retcon?

Not really. Seeing Aunt May married is great. Except, like her knowing he is Spidey, it is not part of the original formula from the '60s. So I give it about 3-4 years before it too "never happened."

Seeing Stan Lee send it up with his psychologist short with Spidey having an identity crisis and sending up what Marvel did to Peter/MJ was bloody good. No matter how much in the following page that Joe Q tries to lump the marriage in with Sins Past and the Clone Saga. BS never smelled...crappier?

Oy.

P.S. JRjr is the best Spidey artist sine...well JRsr. We are so lucky to have him drawing Spidey again.

Now the only question is how long we have to wait till the good Doctor makes his "true" return back to the pages!

Here's to issue # 700...!!

I can only imagine the write up for it...

Fresh after giving his highschool/college degree to the devil
(after Aunt May's 73rd heart attack) Pete wakes up mis-pronouncing the letter "R", and eats wheatcakes with Aunt May, before swinging off to fight "Good Grief", a new character that looks and talks like Charlie Brown! But is it really him? And wait to you see who Pete sleeps with despite the fact that his web shooters aren't launching! Lastly, will MJ remember that she was once not Jackpot, and what exactly did Wolverine whisper to Mephisto before Pete lost his education??!!!!

(HEY Styles....you still got that pic of GOOD GRIEF somewhere??) That was a classic!! lol

And with three issues every month it will be out as soon as 2012, just in time for Spidey's 50th anniversary. ;)
