an open thread to the oldbies

Hahaha, I thought they did that just to get their post counts up. I'm sure since those threads have all been moved to the Diner their use has significantly declined.

Naw, people like Sam Fisher will still post in there over and over and over. It's still a frequently bumped thread:huh:

Oh, well nevermind. I've posted in a couple of those when I get bored. The "last dvd you bought" and "The last TV Show/movie you watched" threads are ridiculous.

That will never happen. The moderation here has become so strict within the last year to year and a half that any "saga" that you mentioned involving the likes of Spiderfreddie will be squashed within a thread or two.

Tell me about it. I'm all good for vigilant moderating when the situation calls for it...but there are times when the mods tend to go on power trips and open/close/move/delete at both an aggressive rate and on an unnecessary whim...

See I have the exact opposite problem whenever comic films are announced/near release.

The place then gets flooded...I mean FLOODED...with newbies who only stay for the duration of the given film's hoopla and only mildly contribute to said film's forums...not to the Hype in general.

I use to frequent the Bat-Boards nearly exclusively because of my joining right when the hype over what became 'BB' got started. But now, I'm starting to gradually shift over to being a more general and well rounded member. It helps when you have a user-name that's not exclusive to any one charater (though there's nothing wrong with that...OctaviousINC, Spider-Fan, and a few others being shining examples).

I admit the Hype doesn't quite have the bite it did when I first joined...We just haven't had a current 'Crisis on Infinate Earths' or 'Civil War' y'know?

Like I joined just before the whole 'spiderfreddie saga' LOL ... It's great to have forum history and the ability to sit around and tell stories like that....But we don't have that now...any scuffles generally are small and resolved quickly. They aren't some sweeping opus that bonded all of us together like they used to be. It's like all these years have been our "Indiana Jones Trilogy" ...and we just haven't had our "Crystal Skull"...our next big adventure.

All we need is some totally out of left field *****e bag to join and cause a big ruckus...and the mods should let it go for a month or 2 so we've got yet another 'tale' LOL

Thanks for the name props CFE :)

We do kind of have a tale to tell future hypsters. How annoying this place was when the batnoobs showed up :o

There are a lot more people who make me roll my eyes now, but I think that's due to the larger number of posters/loungers.

I still really enjoy some of the debates that go on in the more serious threads, and *certain* silly ones are fun. If I didn't still enjoy it here, I wouldn't still be posting

But, I post in the lounge :csad:

Moderation does step its bounds at times, I agree. There are people who got banned for rediculous reasons. We have some good mods, though. I don't want the good ones to not get their dues at the same time.

This place is a lot more restrictive than when I joined, now it's boring. We've lost more and more of the odd-ball posters that used to make this place such a freakshow.

That's what fellow Hypesters are for, my friend

And yeah I hear ya...it's amazing how many username variations of a "TDK" reference can actually be made lol

And agreed...we have some fantastic mods...but it wouldn't hurt to loosen the grip here and there. I mean they were super-lenient back then, which didn't work...now they're super-strict, which doesn't work either.

Mods need to Moderate in Moderation...:hehe:

Oh and Shadow...no worries...Mee's still here

And you're definitely not part of the solution.

Trying to say something there :cmad:

The combination of Joker, Batman, Dark Knight names is amazing. And let's not forgot the virals and the site constantly crashing :down

I agree the mods need to be more lenient.

Lounge rats = :down

btw... It's Hypester... wth is a "Hypster"?

is it just me or do you find yourself not really caring about posting in the majority of topic on here any more.

personally i used to average around 20 to 30 posts a day on the hype, now i'll read the topics but usually can't be arsed adding my own input to them.

i really don't know what it is, i can't put a finger on a reason.

I've never really been a big poster so I haven't really noticed a difference. Guess that is why my post count is still as low as it is.

This is a tell-tale sign of depression. Becoming disinterested in things you once loved.
Lucky for you I'm a doctor!
I have 20 prescriptions for you. You may pick them up tomorrow.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. Most of the threads don't interest me anymore.

you ripped the breaks off this beast.

it comes in waves man. then you leave, then you crawl back. then you beg mods to delete your post count

:inlust:

the hype needs a 80k long thread which isn't a lounge.

I think the lounge is a bad idea since it engulfs any mild sense of creativity in a thread. there are possibly tons of great conversations that get underminded because the conversations don't get their own identity in the way of individual threads.

The lounge also takes a lot of events/ideas from people's lives that would have made lame-ass threads; and consolidates them into a page or 2 of banter.

I see what you're saying too though

Any thread can have that happen to it. Just look at this one. It started out very nice and most posts were in depth and the last page is more one sentence quips back and forth much like a lounge.

The more serious and large posts on the first page are undermined by page 3 and so on. That happens everywhere here but being here for so long that does nto suprise me.

It's also not a bad thing as people can do what they wish. Just saying is all.
