Andy Serkis IS Alfred Pennyworth

Super curious now for what kind of Alfred this will be. Does Serkis just want to work with Reeves again for the hell of it or was this written as a much flashier kind of role? Very cool choice.

When I heard the news about Andy Serkis and Colin Farrell, I assumed Serkis would be Penguin and Farrell would be Dent. Very surprised at the roles they may have been selected for but I like when they don't go for the obvious choice. I absolutely love Andy Serkis so don't really care who he's playing so long as he's involved.

Few months back, Venom 2 was to begin shooting in November. The Batman is said to film late this year or early 2020.

This is hard evidence Venom 2 has been pushed back into 2nd half of next year filming wise and may not happen.

I think this casting fits more:

I figured he'd pop up somewhere, but this is great news. Really wish Irons got another chance though.

May not happen?

lol, Venom made a billion dollars, and the cast, director, screenwriter, and cinematographer are all in place, they're not just gonna randomly say "eh.....nevermind".

I‘m sorry but this casting doesnt work at all at first glance. I give him the benefit of the doubt and trust Reeves with this.

If you look at all the past actors that portraited Alfred, Serkis lacks the „Sir Quality“ that Alfred should embody imo. He looks too rough.

Not thrilled with this TBH, but I trust Reeves to make it work.

Not my favorite casting, but at least this news may suggest a harder Earth-One Alfred interpretation, which is exciting.

I'm sure Serkis can turn it out though.

First off, that Thersa May thing he did was one of the funniest, and freakiest things I've ever seen.

Second, Serkis is awesome and while he's not what I would initially picture as Alfred, I'm fine with it. None of the modern age Alfreds -- Michael Caine, Michael Gough, and those guys from Gotham and Pennyworth -- look even remotely like the one in the comics and it works fine.

“Old” Batman:

They actually only aged Ben Affleck 3 years in BvS. Bruce is 45 in the movie, not 50. The "20 years in Gotham" line confirmed it as well as a couple of interviews and promotional material.
