Annihilation

You probably are. Of course assuming that Civil War and Annihilation happen at the same time, the Negative Zone isnt the safest place.

*shrug* I always assumed Annihilation was slightly behind Civil War.

If Tony and Reed have been building the compound for a while in preperation (I need to read Front Line again, but I think there was more than just that one), then it would make sense for Annihilus to be pissed at the regular universe and attack for what he sees as an occupying force setting up shop in his universe.

I don't really care if i'm right or wrong, it just made sense to me

Actually Annihilus is pissed because our Universe is growing and the growth is spreading to the "Negative Zone".....I don't believe the compound in the Negative Zone has anything to do with Annihilation

Except for the fact that its in the Negative Zone.:o

Most likely the case, I just like to pretend that Marvel care about continuity and are inb some way trying to link their events... like they said they were a while back... bet they aren't tho :(

Hmm it make sense though I dont think Annihilation and Civil War tie in at all.

Yes.....in fact when I first read it, my initial reaction was "Decent way to tie Civil War and Annihilation together"....if Marvel were so inclined...

Yeah, I think i'm giving Marvel too much credit :o

You guys are overthinking this way too much. Annihilus is attacking the positive universe because the positive universe is expanding beyond the Crunch, into the Negative Zone. That's Annihilus' motivation, as given several times in Annihilation, period. Reed sends s*** into the Negative Zone all the time. It's not like that's anything new. The Negative Zone didn't cease to exist just because Annihilus left or anything. Annihilus wouldn't care about Reed and Tony's prison because he's out in the positive universe committing genocide and subjugating entire civilizations. There's no connection; two writers just happened to use wholly different elements from the Negative Zone simultaneously.

Although it would be cool if Marvel were holding out a mega cross-over at the end of Civil War and Annihilation in which the Wave heads for earth and the Pro REg guys suddenly realize half the guys that could have helped are trapped in the Negative Zone  ......won't happen though....Civil War is finished in Sept or October while Annihilation doesn't finish till January....still would be cool!

Yeah....well youre an *******!

Annihilation #1 was freakin' awesome!!!

Damn good art and story. I think that Annihilation has been great so far. Every bit of it with the exception of Ronin which was still good, just not great.

I got the real feeling of a war in it, and I don't think there was a single damn ad in the whole thing. Damn it's a good time for Marvel fans right now.

Annihilation #1 did indeed rule. I'd somehow forgotten that over these past few barren, Hype-less days. Thanks for reminding me.

Annihilation: Kicking Civil War's ass on time since August 2006.

Annihilation #1.... Galactus, Silver Surfer , & Firelord got taken down. W@W! This is the most underrated series out there. ANd we got to see Starlord again! It seems that Marvel is getting all their cosmic heroes fleshed out, all ready for some snappy writer to have at them.

Is the original Captian Mar-vel coming back... that would be cool. Bucky is back, so why not

Is it possible Annihilation takes place AFTER the Civil War?
And the prison will be destroyed by Annihilus and his huge army in an upcoming issue.

Ok, so I don't feel alone in this; does anybody else feel like Ronan's mini was "optional"? I don't think it furthered the story at all, I don't feel any attachment to the character, and the art looked like something Bachalo threw up.

I knew absolutly NOTHING about Starlord, so for anyone like me, here ya go: http://www.marvunapp.com/Appendix/starlor1.htm

Also, as far as timelines go Silver Surfer's appearance in Hulk #95 predates the events of Annihilation. Other than that I don't know, but I'm pretty sure that Annihilation will not cross paths with Civil War. Especially since the emphasis on Annihilation has been that every part of it is stand alone.

Anyone else anxious to see how Drax's inevitable confrontation with Thanos will go?

It was definately the weakest link so far.

Everything's supposed to be stand alone, but it did introduce Gamora and explain why Ronan is no longer going to be a two dimensional character.

I guess. His cameo in Annihilation #1 where he took command of the army could have happened and made sense without reading his mini though. And I still wanna know how Gamora went from fightign Ronan to bumpin uglies with Nova.

Ronan's mini basically seemed to set the stage for Gamora and Ronan to get involved in the Annihilation war. At the beginning of Ronan's mini, he was far more concerned with clearing his name after being falsely accused of treason. By the end of the mini, he realized that clearing his name coincided with ousting House Fiyero and reunifying the Kree civilization. The Annihilation war is drawing Kree in from all over the universe, so he probably figures that if he can unite them in the war, he'll gain enough influence to reunite them after the war's over. Gamora, meanwhile, is still pissed that Annihilus' forces killed half of her chick posse.

So sleeping with Nova is her way of getting revenge? Lucky

The Ronan bit makes a lot of sense though. sux that he and Drax have "other" motives for fighting this war other that saving the world.

Plus, the mini just started. We have no idea at this point just how much of any of the mini's will be used. For all we know that Shaper of Worlds guy could show up again. Too soon to tell.
