I love going to fanboy movies like X-Men, Star Wars, Lord Of The Rings, Batman, etc... for midnight / 10pm showings, or opening weekend, and being among the fanbase.
Especially on something like X-Men, which I'm a HUGE fan of, and being among fellow X-Men fans, and cheering and getting excited for the first showing of a movie. It's a great experience, in my opinion. And Days Of Future Past was a pretty good experience. I tried to keep it toned down, but one of my friends who was sitting next to me said there were a bunch of times where I was jumping and fist pumping in my seat.
The overall crowd for DOFP surprisingly wasn't as hyped up as some past X-Men showings I've been at. There weren't any massive cheerings going on, whereas with X2, I still remember people getting all excited throughout that movie, particularly Wolverine unloading on the soldiers in the mansion. X3 got quite a few cheers when I went, and even Origins got a huge cheer from the crowd during the Xavier reveal.
But I do agree, idiots in a movie theatre can ruin the experience. There've been plenty of movies I've seen in a theatre that I had a horrible experience, thought I hated the movie, until I watched it later without idiots surrounding me.
Some of the idiots I encountered at DOFP (spoiler warning for those that haven't seen it):
-People constantly laughing at the first Trask / Dinklage reveal. Apparently, some people are still too immature to take a midget (or is it dwarf for Dinklage?) seriously without acting like a child.

-People cheering when Storm was killed. I get that Halle as Storm hasn't been the most well received casting choice of all time, but really guys???
-The aforementioned laughing at the first shots of Nixon.
-The last couple times I saw it, I was surrounded by idiots who couldn't shut up through the movie.
