Ant-Man and the Wasp News and Speculation Thread - Part 2

Aww heck yeah! This is what I like to hear baby! Nice early reactions. Thanks for the post!

Ant-Man and The Wasp was a fantastic sequel. So much fun, so entertaining from start to finish. The Wasp is awesome & Evangeline Lilly is great! Overall, CAN’T wait to see it again!

"Just saw #AntManandtheWasp. Does it answer the "#InfinityWar question"? YES. "

Ant-Man: A bit more charm than the first and more character work. Everyone seemed to love it. I liked it, but not as much as the first one. Pena is awesome again. Must stay for post credits!

Mike Ryan
ANT-MAN AND THE WASP is for sure an upgrade from the first film (I didn’t love the first Ant-Man). Lilly’s Wasp has at least the same, or probably more, action scenes than Rudd’s Ant-Man.

Also: Michael Peña has a scene halfway through that brings the house down.

That Hashtag Show
AntManAndTheWasp hits everything it needs to. They nailed the comedy and characters were written perfectly. Nice change of pace from Infinity War. Really enjoyed it.

I always have some nitpicky, snarky crap to say and I’m coming up empty with #AntManAndTheWasp. It’s a darn blast. I laughed SO much and... pshttt... where there’s a good man, there’s an even better woman

THANK YOU #AntManAndTheWasp FOR RECOGNIZING HOPE VAN DYNE IS THE ONE WHO GETS IT DONE

Ant-Man and The Wasp is a lot of fun. At its best when it’s almost an over the top silly comedy, less so when it’s about the comic booky villain driven moments. Some fantastic miniature/maxature action sequences. @realmichaelpena steals the show again.

...Don’t go in expecting to get answers to questions from Infinity War. The movie is mostly a stand alone film, even more so than the first one. That said, you’re stupid if you don’t stay in your seat for the credits, more so than a lot of Marvel films.

The movie has some surprising heart, great action, lots of laughs. If you liked the first film, you will be pleasantly surprised with this sequel.

How was Pfeiffer?
She was great, but since the plot is about them trying to rescue her, as you can expect she isn’t in a lot of it.

?Oh and let’s talk about the latter half of #AntManAndTheWasp? ?. Evangeline Lilly is freaking aces in this movie. Welcome to superhero club, you belong here. I want Wasp in the Avengers stat.

Guys! #AntManAndTheWasp was Kick-Ass & funny as hell. Evangeline Lilly's #TheWasp totally stole the show. Michelle Pfeiffer is still Queen. Paul Rudd's #AntMan remains loveable. Michael Pena's Luis is Gold. The VFX was fantastic. It tied in with #InfinityWar perfectly. GOLD.

Laura @lsirikul
Michelle Pfeiffer looked flawless in this. This woman is like Paul Rudd. She does not age. They must be on the same regimen. She was FANTASTIC in this movie. #AntManAndTheWasp

Just saw #AntManAndTheWasp #InRealD3D and happy to report Michelle Pfeiffer remains the fiercest of us all.

Exactly the kind of reactions I was hoping for :)

Loving the reaction, the first Ant-Man is one of the most underrated MCU movies for me, sounds like I will love the sequel also.

That is beyond brilliant.. And absolutely hilarious. :)

EDIT: I mean the poster with the building...

Same here! Can't believe it's less than two weeks away now, sneaking up on us :woot:

I’m kind of over the post credit scenes. Everyone who sees them early hyped them up and my reaction is usually “that’s it?”

These early reactions are great! Better than I was expecting, actually. I so pity the sad losers that have to wait almost two months before they can finally watch the movie! :woot::woot::woot:

Oh, wait a minute... I am one of those sad losers. I don't get it... my national team didn't even make it to the World Cup.

Same here. And Poland is probably getting eliminated tomorrow lol

Sydney Bucksbaum @SydneyBucksbaum
Saw #AntManAndTheWasp last night and I’m still giggling. Thought #InfinityWar was dark? This is the Marvel movie for you. Hilarious, full of Paul Rudd charm and Evangeline Lily kicking ass but Michael Peña absolutely STEALS the show. I’m ready for my Luis spinoff.

Geeks of Color @GeeksOfColor
Loved #AntManandTheWasp? ?! It was an awesome action-packed thrill ride filled with a lot of humor and heart. Paul Rudd was fantastic as usual. Evangeline Lilly was phenomenal as The Wasp and Hannah John-Kamen was a badass villain! Luis was hilarious and played a bigger role in this one! Michael Peña was the real MVP.

The Nerds of Color @TheNerdsofColor
Just saw #AntManAndTheWasp and I gotta say, it was hilarious & action packed. Wasp kicked ass & deserves her own movie. Luis has a bigger role & even more hilarious. They knew how to utilize Randall Park's comedic background bc his comedy was on point. So good.

Michael Lee @eelyajekim
#AntManAndTheWasp is another solid MCU film. A surprising plus is that the 3D pairs very nicely w/ the effects, set pieces, and innovative action sequences to deliver a visual feast. It’s also very funny. And @EvangelineLilly steals this movie and then some.

Terri Schwartz @Terri_Schwartz
Had a blast watching #AntManandtheWasp. It’s super funny, which is its greatest charm. Very personal, small scale story (again) and definitely focused on being light and family friendly. Evangeline Lilly is a badass, and Scott’s daughter Cassie steals the show. Also, ants

Perri Nemiroff @PNemiroff
What a year for Marvel! Absolutely loved #AntManAndTheWasp. Stellar ensemble and the humor is spot on. (Laughed myself to tears during one sequence!) The tech is used to great effect yet again. Unique, highly entertaining ride I can’t wait to go on again.

Haleigh Foutch @HaleighFoutch
Dug the heck out of #AntManAndTheWasp. Clever and charming with lots of heart. It’s a bit exposition heavy, but otherwise a damn delight. One gag had me laughing so hard I was in tears and the post-credits scene is easily one of Marvel’s best.

Ahhh, the days when fanboys were at his throat due to Wright being ousted.

No doubt he does, but Fiege is the only through-line throughout all these movies so he gets the lion's share of the credit, again.

Makes me wonder if the MCU will ever have a great director after Branagh's departure.

Coogler doesn’t count?

Nope. Creed was good enough that no critic thinks it was a bad film, but it's not exactly Shakespeare... or The Godfather... or James Cameron's anything.
I don't think we're ever going to see anyone like Christopher Nolan, Clint Eastwood or del Toro agree to direct a Kevin Feige film. Heck, they may actively be afraid of Oscar-worthy directors because of the memory of Ang Lee's Hulk.

Where did this nonsense of "he doesn't have an Oscar, so he's not a great director" come from?
