Anubis' "How would you do it?" Thread.

Alright, here's my Suicide Squad:

Wild Dog:

12520163_l.jpg

Role: Field leader, weapons expert.

His deal: After being arrested for murder one, Jack Wheeler struck the same deal with the Feds that so many before him have. He is by far the most moral and genuinely good member of the Squad, his biggest flaw being his anger, which is what got him in jail in the first place. He constantly struggles to keep his teammates in check. As the Squad is a black ops team, and Wheeler has a known history of vigilante activity towards organized crime and terrorist groups, he's the perfect candidate for field leader, as all responsibility for the Squad's actions would be shifted to him if they're ever caught.

Prometheus:

Prometheshock.jpg

Role: Tactitian and technitian.

His deal: Being a psychotically genius anarchist terrorist/serial killer, he is by far the biggest risk for the team. While he seems faily polite and sociable most of the time, a few members of the team and several higher ups are wary of him. Naturally, the government thinks they can control him. Naturally, they're wrong.

Onomatopoeia

GREEN_ARROW_13.jpg

Role: Interrogations and assasinations.

His deal: His purpose in the book is to flesh him out as a character a bit, although still keep him fairly mysterious. Some hints will be given as to his past, mostly through the higher ups discussing his files. At the least, it will be said that he has a history in the military. Because they share very similar world veiws and psychosese, he and Promeutheus quickly form their own clique.

Plastique:

Capatom8.jpg

Role: Demolitions.

Her deal: The only Squad "alum" on the team, she helps keep the loose cannons in line. Most see her as the de facto second in command.

Lady Flash:

chris3.jpg

Role: Recon and "tank" (I/E: High powered meta).

Her dea: One of the more psychologically damaged members, she's a bit hard to control or keep stable. Her mentality is very childlike, and as such she is prone to the expected irrational and overly emotional behaivior that most children have. She looks to Plastique as a sort of mentor and mother figure.

Bloodsport:

bloodsport1.jpg

Role: Transportation.

His deal: Since almost nothing is known about the third Bloodsport, he's pretty much a clean slate with which to work. His real name is Thomas Mayhew. He's a prepetual thrill seaker and adrenaline junkie, and overall the living definition of a hooligan. He was incarcerated in Stryker's for assault and battery after starting a barroom brawl. When the second Bloodsport was killed by the Aryan Brotherhood, Thomas was able to get his hands on his teleporter. Figuring out what it really was, he was able to activate it and escape. Once on the outside, he became a mercenary. After failing to fill out a contract to kill Superman, he was arrested. Some time later, he joined the squad. Being almost completely amoral, he is prone to ruffle the feathers of his fellow teamates. He is especiall spiteful towards Plastique, and is prone to take advantage of Lady Flash.

Lady Vic:

LadyVic01.jpg

Role: Stealth/assassinations.

Her deal: She's a pompous, cold blooded aristocrat who thinks far too highly of herself. Her huge ego and stuborn nature make her a poor team player, although other members of the team can usually force her into going along with the plan. She regularly tries to seduce Wild Dog, most like in an atempt to manipulate him so she'll have more influence over the team. This usually makes him very uncomfortable.

Sweet line up, the only one I'm not too familiar with is Plastique.

Nice work Dread, reminds me of how they originally assembled the New Warriors.

Thanks. If everyone can accept that a team with 9-10 members would never work, I could add the remaining 3 more I thought of for SUPER AGENTS TAKE III.

In the backlogs of this page I came up with a CHAMPIONS revival, but your take probably would sell better. Good job. They're an eclectic, random team...but so is NEW AVENGERS. :p

Sweet line up, the only one I'm not too familiar with is Plastique.

She's a former French Canadian terrorist turned mercenary who was once married to Captain Atom. They split over political differences.

Way I see it, in the story I'd be doing, most of the deaths would come from back stabbing within the team rather than the enemy getting the better of them. The last story arc would have Prometheus and Onomatopoeia going rogue, stealing nuclear defense codes, and holding the world ransom in an atempt to dissovle all governmental powers. Through this, Promethues kills Lady Flash, Plastique blows up Onomatopoeia, and Wild Dog becomes cripples fighting Prometheus. I was thinking that maybe there'd be a mission involving the New Gods, and Lady Vic would get left behind, and Dessad would then capture her for "play time." Leaves her fate vaguely ambiguous, but implies a terribly painful death. Though, Lady Vic would probably die in an earlier mission. I'll also probably add a few more members later on, since it seems like a kind of smallish team, and a few of them would probablet bite it aswell.

I always thought Prometheus was the best new villian to be created in the DCU in a long time and it pisses me off that a lot of writers either missuse him or out right ignore this badass character.

He's a villian that has the potenial to reach Joker/Doom level prominence and what is he used for? Hush's sidekick?? WTF!?

Onomatopeia is another guy who has a unique schtick and yet he's an after thought. I think when your given a cool character let alone a decent badguy other writers should use them. Hell Grant Morrison comes up with a gem of a character and MARVEL & DC just screw them up.

And that's why I'm having them stealing nuclear missile codes to hold the world at ransom and destroy all governments, creating a global state of anarchy.

Wow, hardcore Q, hardcore. This would be my idea:

SUICIDE SQUAD: DIRTY DEEDS DONE DIRT CHEAP

The recent Squad-related ideas finally enticed me to come up with my own Squad as well. As most, if not all of you know, I'm a gigantic fan of the Ostrander Suicide Squad run. I haven't particularly agreed with some of the things that have done with the characters since (see: Nightshade and the Shadowpact), and with others I have, after a long time of hating it (see: Rick Flag's return). So what I present here is the first roster of what I would write for a new Suicide Squad series. People would die of course, get captured and all kinds of crazy stuff.

suicidesquadwj6.jpg

Col. Rick Flag, JR.
I was against this resurrection originally, but I've come to appreciate it. Rick Flag is still the perfect guy to lead the Squad, as he is, ultimately a genuine good guy. He's also a certified badass, being capable of keeping up with guys like the Bronze Tiger and Batman. Besides that, Rick Flag's entire existence as a character these days can pretty much only revolve around the Squad, as he really has nowhere else to go. That, and it'd be an interesting tale of how he survived Suicide Squad #26 and how his four years in a Quraci prison were.

Ben "Bronze Tiger" Turner
Good guy. Badass. Top three martial artist. He works excellently as a second-in-command, and is capable of keeping the Squad in check, simply because no one wants to mess with the Bronze Tiger. Beyond that, he is also a very interesting character, with a rich psychological angle to him concerning his brainwashing at the hands of the League of Assassins and just what it means to wear that tiger mask and be the Bronze Tiger.

Evan "Mirror Master" McCulloch
I liked this addition to the Squad a lot, and he, as shown by Geoff Johns, is one hell of an interesting character if played right. He has an amazing capacity to betray, has problems with authority and drug abuse, and lastly, has useful and powerful abilities. If one needs to liken him to an old Squad member, I'd say Captain Boomerang, also a Flash rogue. These guys are just rife with character possibilities, and I could really see Mirror Master being a fan fave. The guy you love to hate.

I am so with you on this choice it's not even funny.

Cameron "Icicle" Mahkent
Meet the new Deadshot. He's ruthless but has got a good guy's heart somewhere deep down. Somewhere. He's an old B-lister that would really get the chance to be fleshed out in something like the Suicide Squad, and I think him being added worked great. Somewhere, he's one of those characters you can sympathise with, and that should make him a favourite. His lover, Artemis Crock (aka Tigress) would be featured here and there, but not as an actual member of the team.

Jason "Red Hood" Todd
I know, I know, why the **** is Jason Todd on the team? He needs a place to stay, and what better place than the Suicide Squad? Sure, he isn't going to die, but his inclusion on the Squad grants quite a few story possibilities. I'd have him be on the Squad at the behest of Batman, who has asked Amanda Waller, although he despises her methods, to keep an eye on him. He figures this is the best route for the guy for now.

Not sure if I agree, with the reason for him to be on the team (Although I kind it's kickass to have him.) I don't think Bats would place Jason in the care of Waller, it doesn't seem like something bruce would do. Oh and you gonna keep the freaky powers that idiot Bruce Jones foisted on him?

Count Werner Vertigo
I love this guy. He was easily one of my favourite characters from the original Suicide Squad, and like the others, he has such an interesting psychological side to him. His manic-depressiveness, and his former death wish make him a great addition to this team. He'd have to leave Checkmate, but since I haven't actually seen him do anything useful with that outfit, I doubt anyone would mourn that loss. He's got power, arrogance and just a dash of lunacy. Awesome.

Jewelee
You'd almost wonder what happened to the females on this team. Jewelee is a good choice for this team because of the recent loss of her husband to Squad activities, and her needing the cash to raise her baby. Why would she work with the outfit that caused the death of her husband you ask? The perfect chance for revenge later down the line. Punch and Jewelee didn't get fleshed out much during the original Squad run, so at least she can get her chance now.

Bette Sans "Plastique" Souci
An old Squadder that was recently re-introduced into the Squad. Her interaction with guys like Flag and Turner, who probably won't buy the redemption-act should be interesting, while she is like a veteran to the newbies that don't know how the Squad works. Her character isn't particularly interesting, but I'd use this to finally get Plastique and Captain Atom back together.

All around solid choices.

No, I would not incorporate the Toddoctopus. That never happened, ye hear?

I'm going to be hated for this but... ah what the hell!

"Don't Call me 'Minority'"

Ebony: female grad student at ESU working in the lab when an accident bombarded her with irradiated Darkforce materia samples. she gained the ability to tap into the darkforce dimension and form solid constructs from darkforce materia. Leader.

Rising Son: a japanese american mutant teenager with a small star for a heart. it gives him some pyro-kinetic, gravitational, and radiation powers. He is exiled from his home by his extremely traditional parents. His mission in life before was to make them proud, it still is.

Super-Jew: a college sophomore who was granted class 85 strength and invulnerability as well as enhanced speed by an enchanged star-of-david pendant. he is devoutly jewish and enjoys throwing his heritage around. humorous and a great friend.

Jihad: 22 years old, an attempt at the super-soldier program in Bagdad, his parents smuggled him into the U.S. and had him nationalized as a U.S. Citizen. he has the ability to teleport to and from any place on earth, however he cannot carry passengers. he is adept at hand to hand fighting, and edged weapon fighting. devout islamic, best friends with Super-Jew ironically.

Senor Fantastico: an off the charts IQ'ed mexican american. He has created a number of devices including a suit of cyber-armor, weaponry, and even transporation for the team.

Full Spectrum: a High school senior who was bombarded by cosmic radiation at a science demonstration gone horribly wrong. now she can control the full electro magnetic spectrum, though she sticks to just light for now. She's a bit of a horndog, always on the look out for her one-night-stand. lesbian.

Super-Jew is based off a kid I knew in my drama class. he litterally called himself super-Jew. he even had a T-Shirt made up with a star of David in red and yellow with a hebrew symbol in the middle.

We were drama kids, we were all a little nuts.

although I guess "Battling Hebrew" would be less copywrite-infringment-y

What the hell, I'll add my other 3 ideas for this team. Every team needs a powerful cavalry and SHIELD would definately want some super-agents in the wings should things go to seed. Even Thor usually had Wonder Man to come off the bench when things got tough sometimes.

SUPER AGENTS III CAVALRY:

SUNDOWN:
Character created by Busiek who showed up in two annuals in 1997; UNTOLD TALES OF SPIDER-MAN and ASM. Ten years ago, David Patrick Lowell was a married man with a nitpicky wife and a scientist gig at Oscorp, but his true passion was plants and mentoring young Mary Kelleher. Unfortunately for him, he chose to barge into Norman's office shortly after Osborn had become the Goblin and was now crazy to introduce his new project, "photogenesis" (allowing humans to absorb sunlight like plants). Osborn ordered his men to trash the lab and destroy all evidence, worried it was too simular to his own formula. Lowell tried to salvage what he could and ended up drinking his own prototype serum, and got tremendous power. How much? 100 ton strength, flight, absorbing the sun's heat and light, energy beams, growth up to 50 feet in height, and creating energy shields that could withstand mystical blows from Dr. Strange and Thor. Angry and confused, he lashed out in NYC and basically ended up fighting every local hero at the time; Spider-Man, the FF, the original 5 X-Men, the Avengers, Daredevil, and Dr. Strange. They were unable to defeat him until a blast accidentally cut off the arm of Mary, and he surrendered. Not a real menace and mournful for his actions, he served his time in prison willingly. When he got out after 10 years, his wife'd left him, he couldn't find work, and mobster Lucky Lobo was pressuring him to work for his gang, even threatening the now-adult Mary. Fortunately, he ran into Spider-Man and the two saved Mary and returned the mobster to jail. Lowell vowed to eke out some life for himself as a scientist and wished the world'd "forget Sundown existed".
However, you can bet your rear SHIELD wouldn't have forgotten about Sundown, considering he was able to battle all of NYC's heroes of the time and hold his own (with zero experience, at that). They kept a tab on him and when the SHRA came up they naturally came with an offer. By then, after 4 or so years had passed and Lowell is about 40 (give or take) and engaged to the adult (but at least 10 years his junior) Mary, although lack of money kept them from marriage, and his guilt at severing her right arm was always there (even if she more than forgave him by now, he didn't forgive himself). SHIELD offers him a position as a scientist for them, including allowing him to specialize in his beloved botany to discover new vitamins, serums, and etc for them. Lowell accepts on that condition, however, upon registering he knows full well that if times are dire enough, if the Super-Agents are down and need a rescue, Sundown has to be called again. It is a day he dreads. Lowell acts as a supporting member of the Super Agents staff in the SHIELD helicarrier and bases, using his study of plants to tap chemicals and enzymes SHIELD would need as well as create fast-healing medicines to help the team recover from battles. Of course, he's that bookworm few would suspect has god-like power. If Sundown has to "fill in" for anyone, it'd be if something/someone managed to defeat Starbird.
SHIELD weaknesses: Lowell has the power of a demigod, but considers his powers a curse and thus supresses them; he has tremendous power and emotion but little training with his powers. Mary also holds a lot of sway over him, and he potentially has mobster enemies. Like some other agents, would at least consider Spider-Man an ally although they're hardly friends.

TITANNUS & "AMISSA": The other two super-agents on the bench. Titannus is naturally the armored Skrull warrior from MTU the past 2 years. While unable to shapeshift, he has strength between the 85-100 ton class range, and his armor allows him to fly, shoot energy blasts and absorb various forms of energy and radiation, including gamma (which causes the Hulk to turn back into Banner constantly during battle with him). However, he is a warrior who has always seemed to be manipulated by others; at first brainwashed by the Trellians into luring Earth's superhumans into space, and then by Japanese scientists who placed a microchip into his brain to lead him to assault a U.S. city to "even the score" after he wasted Tokyo. At first SHIELD tried to simply use his armor on an agent, but they found it only can be activated by one of Skrull DNA. Realizing a warrior who can take down even the Hulk is not worth wasting, SHIELD organizes a shady gambit to utilize Titannus. They maintain the chip in his head that controls him, in fact adding a few more along his nervous system should his head explode again. The other is his overbaring love and devotion to the Trellian Amissa.

SHIELD agent Valeria Jessup, last seen in the horrid IDENTITY DISC crap 2 years back, has a rough time. She's an assertive woman and the daughter of the Vulture, so she has a stigma and a demeaner that makes keeping a boyfriend difficult, even when you date fellow agents or cops. Much to her chagrin, it's not her intelligence, skills, or demeaner that tap her for this project, but because she just so happens to look the most like Amissa with a little makeup and a new hairstyle. Dr. Lowell cobbles together some plant serums she can take in the form of pills to safely increase her strength and durability to near-Trellian levels, and from raiding some of Titannus' Trellian tech, are able to outfit her in a flying costume. Val Jessup is essentially made to look and fight like "Amissa" and takes that as her codename. Both she and SHIELD have controls to Titannus' chip, but her assistance is an added "insurance" should Titannus ever encounter a weapon that causes his chips to malfunction, or they get destroyed, or his will somehow, someday overcomes them. However, much like any undercover, the line sometimes between who Val believes she really is and who she pretends to be becomes blurry. She feeds Titannus stories to convince him not to tear SHIELD apart, even as he spends much time in statis between battles. She even has to sometimes "touch" the alien's face and so on, until she realizes just how insanely devoted Titannus is to "Amissa"; after all, being rejected by her caused him to attempt suicide, despite being all but unkillable due to his regeneration. No matter how much she yells at him, no matter how assertive she is, Titannus always obeys her to the letter. He feeds her dysfunction to the point where she begins to get too used to her act. She may even become genuinely attached to the warrior, but for all the wrong reasons. Obediance isn't love, but sometimes some wish it to be.

In battle, Titannus and "Amissa" are ferocious. Val rarely engages in much combat herself, usually giving Titannus explicit and sometimes brutal orders (such as "SMASH EVERYTHING!" or "SHOW NO MERCY!"). On the team as backup and as SHIELD believing nothing should be wasted, it is a dangerous gambit, and they are the pair the team all but distrusts more than Garret. What were to happen if Titannus ever discovered the truth? And has Val allowed her role to consume her, to the point where she loves being the beastmaster to a nearly unbeatable warrior? Some of the members acknowledge needing Titannus as a last ditch backup, but some of the others try to talk to "Amissa" and at least try to remind her that this is, after all, an act and she is really someone else.
SHIELD weaknesses: Val/"Amissa"'s issues have been detailed; she is becoming too attached to dominating and having the infinite obedience of a Skrull war machine. She has SHIELD training but may still be unfamiliar with prolonged battles in her new state, despite being capable enough to fool Titannus. Titannus, meanwhile, could potentially have his chips shorted out by some attacks and lord knows how he might react to Val's deception. Aside for that, he is physically indestructable and nearly impossible to beat in a straight up fight.

Missions: The SUPER AGENTS would be kept very busy. The way I see it, if America has X-amount of mutants, genetically enhanced humans, and technology users, then countless nations and people hostile to the U.S. have to, as well. One could imagine suits of armor, cybernetic treatments, MGH, even radiation experiments and the machines to produce them being proliferated overseas much as stinger missles are. Why bother with a nuke if Iran can create a 100 man army with 100 ton strength and flight? How many overseas mutants might find themselves instant dictators, or criminal agents? The Super Agents would be battling a lot of those ugly fights the public and other heroes rarely see. But would that jade some of the more innocent members?

After reading this thread, I had a great idea for an Inspector Gadget comic. It would be an all ages comic aimed at the same basic target audience of the DCAU shows. It would take alot of inspiration from Get Smart and Joe Kelly's Deadpool in terms of it's style of humor. Many plot points would be parodies of DC's Vertigo imprint and Marvel's MAX and Icon imprints. The basic idea if this:

Inspector Gadget is the hero and mascot of the Metro City police department. While quite clumbsy and often rather clueless, his sheer dumb luck, many gadgets, and assistance from his slightly more adept allies usually results in his cases ending succesfully, and his "never say die" aditude has made him a hero in the eyes of the public. He was origionally John Brown, a security officer who worked at a scientific reaserch facility. When the facility was robbed and set ablaze by members of the international crime syndicate known as MAD, John risked his life to save that of Doctor Slickstein. Injured in the fire, John is "rebuilt" by Slickstein, who then goes into hiding shortly afterwards. John becomes a member of the MCPD, and is soon known as Inspector Gadget. Gadget quickly gets caught up with the FBI's atempts to bring down MAD, which is based in Metro City and has ties to criminal activity all over the world. The feds have been trying to take down Mad for over a decade, and have a casefile on them as thick as an encyclopedia set. Still, they don't know what MAD stands for. Through all of this, he is aided by his super genius neice Penny and their freakishly human like dog Brain. He also has an uneasy relationship with Snake, a vaguley psychotic reporter for the Metro City Daily Press who is regularly trying to "take on the system" and dig up some dirt on Gadget (Transmetropolitan reference).

Soon, Gadget is drafted by the military into there "Posthuman Project," a government sponsired special ops. team of superhumans (reference to both The Ultimates and Supreme Power). Some members featured are Commander Apollo, a jingoistic patriot with anger issues and a severe lack of faith in humanity who was given super powers by being fused with alien DNA, and Nightblade, a nigh indestructible, somewhat racist special ops agent who often contemplates murdering his teammates so he can make a move on their girlfriends. All of the characters on the team are "Ultimate" parodies of the various Amalgam Comics characters, often being amalagamations of Ultimate and Supreme Power characters.

Sufice to say, Gadget's tenure on the team is a short one, and he soon goes back to fighting crime and trying to bring down MAD in Metro City. However, everything changed when Gadget is captured by MAD. There, he is cut open and thoroughly inspected by none other than Doctor Slickstein. Slickstein is in fact a member of MAD who faked the robbery of his lab and atempt on his life to create an excuse for dissapeating from the public eye. He not only informs Gadget that he's never seen him before, but that his body has no organics in it. He's made up entirely of random electronic parts that seems to be manipulated by some kind of strange elctromagnetic feild into serving whatever Gadget's needs are (thus explaining his seemingly limitless supply of gadgets). Gadget escapes, but is deeply troubled by the news. What makes matters worse is that, when he gets home, Brain starts talking.

Brain reveals to Gadget that he used to be Brian Callahan, a pessemistic and sardonic mystic, private detective, paranormal investigator, and con man (a parody of John Constantine, to be percise) who was cursed into becoming a dog by a god he angered. However, after some mystical workings of hos own, he was able to regain some humanoid characteristics, such as the ability to speak and walk upright. Still, he usually pretends to be an ordinary dog, stating that "If you're just a really smart dog, you can still get things to go your way with a litte work. If you're a talking dog, people tend to want to cut you open to see what makes you tick." With Brain's help, Gadget finds out that he is in fact biologically dead, and upon death possessed the various electronic devices in Slickstein's lab and became a technology elemental (Swamp Thing Reference). All of his gadgets, including the Gadgetmobile (which is in actuality a normal car) are a result of his ability to manipulate an possess electronic devices. He subconsciously fabricated the memories of Slickstein creating his gadgets to cope with the whole ordeal. After learning all of this, Gadget simply says "...cool" and asks penny if she wants to order out for Chinese food for dinner.

Shortly thereafter, Gadget gets a partner in Adam DaFoe, a detective with severe memory problems an an expertese in unusual/suprnatural crimes. It is soon revealed that Adam is one of the oldest humans on Earth and just has a really really ****ty memory, so he keeps forgeting who he is every few decades (Powers reference).

Meanwhile, within MAD, Claw is challenged as leader by Phinease McGuffin, the smooth talking, manipulative head of one of MAD's corperate fronts who thinks he can run the show better. He ends up usurping Claw and leaving him for dead in the middle of a dessert.

Gadget has several cases with Adam, Penny, and Brain, dealing with all manner of unusual crime. One notable one is when they take on The Big G, a completely insane and nigh omnipotent entity who wishes to rewrite reality in a bizar, surrealistic fashion (reference to both Red Jack from Grant Morrison's Doom patrol and, more importantly, Grant Morrison himself).

Eventually, Claw is revealed to be (barely) surviving in the dessert, living as a hermit. All of this changes when Claw runs across the Nex, a child of two gods from rival pantheons with seemingly limtless power. Claw fuses with Nex and gains control of all of it's power (reference to Jesse Custer and Genesis). With his newfound power, Claw deems MAD to be beneath him, effortlessly destroys the entire organization within a matter of minutes, and moves on to bigger and better oportunities. He finds them in "The Big Guys," a group of super-gods, each one a direct personification of aspects of life and the human condition (reference to The Endless). Claw does battle with them, atempting to gain control of their dominions and remake the universe in his image. The only wrench in the system is Gadget. Big showdown between the two arch rivals to cap everything off. Fun stuff.

Of course, this is just a rough outline. There would be filler stuff and storylines that aren't parodies, but I haven't thought of them yet.

Also, one note: While Gadget and most of the stories would be played for comedy, Claw would, at least as a character, be played completely straight. He'd be a ruthless criminal mastermind and a truely badass villain. There'd still be comedic bits with him in them, but he'd be the straight man.

This is good Q. I like it. It finally explains why gadget and say Go-Go-just-about-anything and take care of it, plus it be a cute intelligent comedy. Love the part about "Big G" by the way.

Thanks. I'm also thinking spoofing Infinite Crisis in the end by having Gadget stumble and bump into the wall of reality during his final fight with Claw, causing a "retcon-bumb" and resetting everything with him waking up from a "really weird dream."

heh... what, no spoof for Bendis? I mean, if he isn't someone who is crying out to be made fun of... OH! don't end it with the "really weird dream" have one more.... bit. you can call the story ark "12". in which each month they get a 12 part story that just basically summs up everything, never really making progress from one to the other until the end.

heh... what, no spoof for Bendis? I mean, if he isn't someone who is crying out to be made fun of...

Well, there is a Powers spoof already. And I'd guess Adam would talk in over exagerrated Bendis diologue as a result of his memory problems.

OH! don't end it with the "really weird dream" have one more.... bit. you can call the story ark "12". in which each month they get a 12 part story that just basically summs up everything, never really making progress from one to the other until the end.

Maybe. Yeah, I could give each minor character a story arc as Gadget has gone missing after his big fight with Claw, all slightly and unnecesairily changed because of the retcon bump. Then I could end with the dream bit.

Okay... a long time ago this story started, and now... I want to get a bit of it out.

In this world an event much like the "white Event" occured. the earth was bathed in an energy wave that cause alterations in immature DNA. basically any and all organisms still in their gestation period were mutated. This was of course noticed in animal births first, but while a record number of mutated children were born 5-8 months later, there were not as many as were predicted. It turned out that only during purberty would the greatest of these mutations be revealed. Those who did recieve these gifts were called "Derivitave Human Species" or "D-Humans" for short. those with out are known as "Origin Human Species" or "O-Humans"

Mutation: Genisis
The most powerful word in the english language is "No." As congress discusses the "D-Human Registration, Relocation, and Re-Education Bill" a group of teens from Georgia manage to get their hands on a copy. The bill would require all D-Humans to be detained, documented, shipped to a "Re-Education Center" and "Educated in appropriate use of power". in short the bill ordered D-humans hunted down, locked up, and brain washed to believe they were disgusting abominations. This group of teens, outcasts from their families, now makes their way to utter this most powerful word.

Locomotive: has a letter in speech and debate, his power is that he does not tire. he can never be exhausted. He rarely even sleeps.

Bubbles: the only one of the group that has no training in public speaking, she is meek, and unused to using her mind to acheive her goals. she produces pink colored bubbles that have the kinetic impact of rubber balls.

T-Zap: low-level electrokinetic. speaks two langauges and is twin sister to Z-Zap. has feelings for Locomotive

Z-Zap, low-level electrokinetic. speaks two languages and is twin brother to T-Zap (speaks english and farsi like his sister). protective of his sister.

Wolf: was once a loser who's only release was public speaking, his powers included an enhanced metabolism that gave him slightly enhanced strength and endurace as well as enhanced senses.

southern GA to Washington DC never seemed so far for these teenagers.

Mutation: PDX

five teenagers were once great friends, but four years ago something drove a wedge in them, splintering them. now, on a dark anniversary, celebrating a secret they don't dare mention, they are approached by a young man who claims to be from the future, telling them about their powers, telling them that they are supposed to be heroes. Can they be friends again? Can they confront the horrible secret they buried four years ago?

Gravitation: controls gravity. he is a high school golden boy, and sports star. he recently quit the football team, as well as announcing his intentions not to join any other teams, supposedly to work on his grades. he is a natural leader, but he doubts himself.

Lady Sky: flight, strength. She is a highly intelligent ice-queen. she projects the image that all she cares about is her studies and she like not having anything else in her life. She is, however, athletic. She has studied martial arts for many years and even creates a style that takes advantage of her power to fly. often carries a chinese long sword.

Hottie: pyro-kinetic. she is a loner doning spikes, blunt messages to avoid her, and colors that obviously clash to keep people away from her. The only person in her life she respects, though she doesn't let them know, is her stepfather, a welder.

Gigabyte: hyper-prodigy. he is very much the nerd his powers force him to be, though this year he has let his grades slack much to his teacher's consternation. he, truthfully, is bored. nothing is an intellectual challenge to him anymore, at least not at school.

Diva: able to produce concussive blasts from her mouth when she sings. She has always been fairly selfabsorbed, but only because that's what she thinks she's supposed to be like. her parents do a fairly good job of ignoring her and placating her with expensive thigns (as they are fairly rich). her family's servant is a major father figure to her teaching her some martial arts and listening to her problems.

Gyro: produces spinning rings of light that can teleport, deliver a concussive blast, or act as a forcefield. he is the one who traveled backwards from the future. he speeks of a bleak world where they didn't stay together, where they shattered. he doesn't know why things changed, but he knows they must be set right. He traveled with three compainions who were lost in the time stream as they traveled, he was the only one to arrive at the correct time-space location.

Mutation: Red

This is a more spider-man type story being set in chicago. a young man with incredible power and the right motivation in his past to use it correctly. he has friends who know and help despite their own lack of power, and one friend who fights agaisnt thim due to her 'philosphy'.

Johnny "Crimson" Myers: produces a red energy from with in his body that he can expel from any point, usually his hands or eyes, or feet if he wishes to fly. The energy feeds his body as well as acts as a defensive mechanism. when adrenalized his body produces even more excess amounts. if he uses too much he goes into a comatose state while his stores replenish. He has a great moral compas and a strong sense of right and wrong. his father is a firefighter who taught him that courage isn't what sends him in, it's duty, honor, and strength. his father taught him to box.

Tabby Wesely: no powers, but a computer genius. she watches out for Johnny on line by linking into security cameras wherever she can. she and her twin brother Tommy have been friends with Johnny and their friend Susie for as long as any of them can remember.

Tommy: pretty much the same as Tabby, but he also has a horn dog streak. he's playful and witty.

Susie "Shadow" Holmes: able to dissolve her body into a shadow like state and use shadows to teleport. Her father was a firefighter too, only he died. she believes that he died for nothing and has a harsher more Darwinian look on life. She becomes a D-supremecist.

Atif "Iron Sides" Mohammad: able to convert his body to living metal and even convert other matter he touches into metal, Atif is young but desires to become a hero. he seeks the tutalage of Crimson.

Mutation: Monster

where heroes and champions rise, there also rises evil. in this case a great evil intent on the world bowing to him and worshiping him. He has the ability to manipulate matter on the subatomic level, bending and warping the world to his will. he believes himself to be more than human, more that super-human, he believes himself to be that which he calls himself: Diety

Mutation: The Gathering

Genisis has made it to DC, the PDX have come to terms with their dark secret and each other, Crimson is unmasked, and Diety is unleashed upon the world. Now, given their chance to speak, Genisis puts out the word; D-Humans are together in DC to speak to Congress, both the House and the Senate, about the Bill. The time has come, the players are set, will they win?
Mutation: University

set roughtly twenty years after all that has gone before, there opens for the first time a school. The Thomas Wesely Academy for D-Human Education. The headmaster is non other than Johnathan "Crimson" Meyers and his wife Tabitha Meyers. the school is named for their late brother. he was a organic chemistry genius. he created a substance that has become as standard in law enforcement as handcuffs: Suppressant. a liquid that, when administered to a D-human, nullifies powers. he made a fortune, but never stopped being a staunch advocate of D-human rights (despite being O-Human). he and his fiance were murdered two years ago by O-Human supremecists. He stipulated in his will that he wanted his money to create a place where these children could go and learn about themselves, the world, and not be percecuted. A school. this would not be a base of operations for a team of any sort, as vigilante activity was now on the fall after D-Humans became standard parts of many police units.

while of course there are large numbers of students, we focuse on small microcosms, friends who band together due to fate.

Carmenita "Elek-Trick" Martorell: a powerful electro-kinetic. She is a natural leader, and not a bashful or shy person. very outgoing and friendly. devout catholic.

Mycroft "Random" Holmes: the bastard son of Susan "Shadow" Holmes he is named for the Arthur Conan Doyle character. his power is unstable and actually shifts roughly every twenty-four hours. Mycroft was raised by his mother without a stable home, moving from place to place. his mother ran because of who his father was: Diety. Mycroft is quiet, respectful and fairly feminine. many accuse him of being gay, when he is infact straight. He closest two friends are Carmen and Danny.

Danny "Migraine" Fangor Jr: high level telekinetic. Danny has sever emotional and psychological problems stemming not only from the fact that his mother dissappeared when he was three and his father beat him like a rented mule, but also the fact that when his powers emerged he accidently KILLED his father. Danny has issues with the fact that he was glad his father was dead and the fact that he feels ill over the fact that he did it. he has the beginings of Dissassociative Identity Dissorder. his alternate personality, the "Dark Prince" has greater control of his telekinesis. the Dark Prince doesn't even have to come out completely to ruin Danny's life. whenever Danny experiences wonderfully happy moments he begins to experience horrible migrains that are accompanied by his telekinesis lashing out without control. converts to catholicism after attending church with his girlfriend, Carmenita.

Guillermo "Elastic" Martorell: Carmenita's younger brother, Elastic is like everyone's younger brother. he is sarcastic and witty and always playfull. he is intelligent and out spoken and on the speech and debate team. He is stretchy. devout catholic

Abigail "Power-Up" Parker: a pigment transformation signals the activation of her powers. her brown hair turns golden blond and her brown eyes turn blue her caucasian skin turns paper white. in this form she can fly and possesses super strength. she is a tomboy and very rambunctious. she is very much an anime-geek. shortly after arriving at the school along with her best friend she realized that not only was she bi-sexual, she was also in love with that same friend, May.

May "Fantasy" Watson: creates force fields that have a rainbow tint to them, like soap bubbles. She was a very popular girl in her old school and is still very girly. her popularity took a nose dive shortly after she arrived when she finally admited to herself that she was a lesbian and in love with her best friend, Abigail. May has been sexually abused by her father, not that anyone but her family knows this, and so she has some intimacy issues.

John "Cutter" Smythe: computer geek, but keeps in shape with martial arts. very intelligent, on the "Quiz-bowl" team. generates magnetic fields. uses them to manipulate metal blades.

James "Tank" Smythe: Identical twin of Cutter. James is a more physical being. weight training, football team, soccor. he uses his magnetic powers to make heavy metal armor and projectiles.

both of the above are twin brothers from London, England. they are often refered to as the "Magno Twins"

expansion, in the middle of all of this I decided to expand with a second group.

Austin "Pick" Robertson: A young black boy who grew up in Austin, Texas. he secretes a ceramic like substance from his pores that he can use to make spikes ore edged weapons. he can fire them, but that is very tiring. he is skilled at knife fighting from times spent in a gangin in Austin. he has an older brother who is a criminal that he hasn't heard from in a long time. His single mother moved them out of the city and into a little town. His is best friends with "Twister"

Katrina "Twister" Dressler: controls wind. she is very much the wild child with an eclectic personality. she has a great deal of of skill in a number of areas but far from expertise. she can sword fight, dance, act, sing, gynastics, and many other things due to step-fathers. you see her father died when she was eight and her mother proceeded to rapidly marry and divorce several men. none of these men were ever cruel to Katrina, in fact most of them tried to have a good relationship with her. Katrina resents her mother. she is a devout jew, as her mother was born jewish and her father was devout.

Marianne "Giggles" Nyguen: she flied, line of sight teleports, and has superspeed. She first visited believing she was an O-Human dating elastic. she later discovered her powers when she was moved in after she ran away from home (her parents dissapproved of her dating a D-Human). she is smart, but not wise. she has an incessant giggle that earned her her nickname. she and elastic have an on-again-off-again relationship.

Damian "Cyber-Saint" Hall: damian was born with dusty brown wings and has had them all his life. when he was eleven he was in a car wreck that almost killed him. his uncle was quite wealthy and an inventor so he was able to recieve cybernetic prosthetics for all the limbs on his right side including his wing, as well as his right eye and right kidney. Damian is extremely self consious and self-loathing. he has attempted suicide twice, and is in two therapy groups and sees a therapist regularly by himself. he is also dealing with the fact that he is a closeted gay. he has a crush on Mycroft.

Katie "The Reaper" Enfield: able to possess uncionsious bodies. she is a very dark and cold girl. she usually wears a heavy black hood and cloak that makes her look like the grim reaper. at the Academy she even owns a collapsable sythe. She is an excellent melee fighter. she is cold and cruel to almost everyone, the only exception is Damien, who reminds her of her own little brother. Katie was abandoned on the streets by her parents. she is wiccan.

Phineas (Fin)"Gore" Rhiechart: able to not only regenerate to heal, but also generate extra mass, enhancing his strength, and thickening his skeleton. doing these things gives him a frightening almost zombie like appearances as his skin stretches taught over his deformed skeleton. he has to eat to keep up his stores. he also has a high pain threshold as he will often rip out his own bones if he is in need of weaponry.
