okay, the title of the above piece needs serious work. I don't have one. In my mind it's an Invincible/Grounded type title, taking a look at what the Super-Hero life style really does to a person.

Amelia Dodson is a normal girl. A little too normal at times. She has some control issues that come from having to be "on top of things" in her home life for years. He'll, she's been kidnapped, held ransom, and abducted by psycho's, war-mongers, alien dictators, and freaks of all types. She's gonna have some issues. She is going to public school for the first time in her life at the start of her Junior year so that she can get into the school of her choice. Her parents identities are known, as is hers. She has some martial arts skill and is seen as a nerd.

Her first day at school, she sees a guy hastling a scrawny kid, she steps in, dislocates the hastler's arm, and winds up with detention (it would have been worse but there were too many witnesses to Hastler's assault) because the boy's who's arm she dislocated is John Hastler, Quarter back and captain of the high school football team.

Through out the series she has no interest in being a super-hero. IF at any point she were to aquire powers, it would take a whole lot of strong arming to get her to act like a super-hero. I don't intend for her to get them (to her parents chagrin).

She discovers that she is a lesbian when she starts flirting with a local level teen-hero, that also happens to attend her school, named Blaster. She ahd suspected it for sometime as she had never felt any interest in boys or men whatsoever, but never "confirmed" it. The two girls date secretly for a while. on the day when Amelia finally plans to tell her parents her secrets (doesn't want to be a hero, and Oh, yeah, I'm a lesbian) she comes home to find her mother making out... wait for it... WITH BLASTER!

LOL!!

F--k you Z.

Now I gots some reading to do, so if you mind I'll continue.

Damn good work Z! I like the fact that she's had to deal with the crap her parents careers as superheroes have dealt her. I'd imagine she'd be pretty adept at escaping capture by now and would most likely as you showed by her willingness to kick the quarterbacks ass when he was bullying some schmuck, that she can brawl. The lesbian thing I have no feeling towards either/ or. I suspect maybe her more being a closested lesbian has something to do with her Amazonian motif.

It think this has some legs on it man. Kudos!

The title... I have it, Dee...not Powerless...

Powerful

part irony, part the fact that she projects a powerful air about her. She takes charge, she doesn't take "no" when she really wants something. she does whatever it takes to reach her goals (she descended to public school so she could get into a good college). She is Powerful.

Looking through some pages of this thread and remembering the recent movie reminded me of this idea I had for Ghost Rider a while back:

See, Blaze has kinda had it with GR, so he goes to Dr. Strange and asks him if he can train in the ways of the Sorceror Supreme, so that he can help people without having to burn his skin off everytime. Blaze slowly becomes better with his abilities, even going as far as being able to tap into his Hellfire without turning into the Ghost Rider. Meanwhile, Strange is secretly helping Ketch along the way.

But, there's a problem: the magic that is the source of their powers are becoming more and more erratic. Strange has known about this, but tries everything he can to stop it, but in the end, there is only one way to stop it--the Confrontation and Merge.

Strange takes Blaze and Ketch into a void, where no one else can reach them. Strange tells them the deal: basically, the universe is not big enough for two Ghost Riders. Thus, the two entities and by default, Blaze and Ketch, have to fight to the death, or risk a virtual anarchy of magic of biblical proportions.

Well I don't like Danny Ketch as a rule and i'm liking Ghosty as the Devil's bounty hunter deal now and your idea just doesn't strike me as something I'd read. It's too 90s.

Rosebriar Academy for Priviliged Girls

This is another idea for my admited rip-off-verse. In this world the X-Chromosome has begun to mutate, providing those who possess two mutated X-Chromosomes with amazing abilities. However Dr. Mentoshi Mori****o, a japanese immigrant, does not believe that the world is ready for women with such amazing powers. So she has created the Rosebriar Academy for Priviliged Girls. using her inborn telepathic powers, and a device built by her friend, she finds the girls and helps them realize their full potential, both as students, X-Chromes, and women.

On the other side of the coin is Naru Mori****o, Dr. Mentoshi's sister. She immigrated a few years before her elder sister did. they immigrated at the perfect time for them to wind up in an internment camp. Naru also doesn't believe that base liners are ready for X-Chromes, but she is ready and willing to take a more violent stance. Using her super-human intelligence and the same device she built for her sister many, many years ago, she has also built her own group. The Sisters of Artemis. They are ready to destroy anyone who is not a carrier of a mutated X-chromosome.

the Rosebriar Girls include
Alabaster: a former eatern-european mail-order bride who can transmute her skin into a completely white stone.

Detonate: rich white girl who can release a blast of energy from her chest.

Reject: an black inner-city girl who can force things away from her body.

Succubus: daughter of german aristocrats who were revolted by her demonic apperance. She does not feed on any sort of energy, nor is she a nympho. the reasons behind her name are known only to her. can fly using her bat-like wings

Gaia: a black wiccan who found her power to control earth while she was close to her bachelors. she is now one of the teachers.

The Sisters of Artemis

Silver Tongue: with powers of persuasion that only the most strong willed can resist. former auctioneer

Athena: the Doctor's sister gifted with super-human intelligence and a bellecose nature.

The 50ft Woman: a former physics teacher that can actually grow larger, and shrink if she likes.

Crash: a former fastfood worker who is able to travelup to 100yds straight in any given direction without harm and stop instantly.

New Avengers

The Hunt

using our current cast of New Avengers (Cage, Spidey, Spider-Woman, Jones, Dr. Strange), There is a cop killer on the loose in New York city. Spider-Man wants to bring this guy down badly (thinking back to Detective Stacy). As he can't go out, even with his holo-emitter, Dr. Strange offers to help his investigation.

Dr. Strange goes to 1 Police Plaza to ask about thing, intending to use his mystical abilities to convince the detectives on the case, however he is greeted warmly by the Lt. on duty who says "My daughter adores you!" it turns out that the Lt's daughter is a witch (just left for Camp Hammond) who has been open with her parents about her powers, and raved about the "Legendary Dr. Strange". The Lt. is happy to share information about the case, but it turns out there is more than meets the eye. This is no homocidal psychopath... this is a vicious vigilanty: The murdered cops were all corrupt.

all they have discovered so far is that while there were always plenty of witnesses to the shootings, no one ever got a good look at the shooter. all they know is that some times the shots came from high in the air, and that the killer, when he was visible, wore a red hood and cloak.

Not sure if I like the overall idea, but I will say their is some potential in a story about a world where only woman have superpowers. It is worth exploring just without the 'X-men' motif.

Well it isn't. This is my "Knock-Off" world. Much like Squadron Supreme, or Guardians of the Globe. They are a knock off of the X-Men. The idea is that it is intentional and admitted.

They exist in the same universe as Orb-Weaver, Team First Strike, and Team Strike Back

But I like the thought of only girls having the mutant powers because... because... uh... hang on, gimme a sec. Okay, I got nothin'.

however, I did try and model each of them on an X-man or Brotherhood member.

Ah, that's a case where I say don't mess with what ain't broken.

Team Strike-Back

Major Pain: wearing army fatigues this former drill seargent come super heroe has the power of invulnerabilty and great leadership skills. He cultivated his nickname while training soldiers in bootcamp. he is known as a Hardass with a heart of gold.

The Mechanic: a super-genius with several inventions at his disposal. he's a flirt, despite being in a semi-commited relationship. he's desperate to prove that he's "As smart as all those other super-geniuses". Somewhat of a Narcissist

Cast-Iron: wearing a Stark-Tech knock off, this guy is a hard drinking, woman chasing, chain smoking play boy. he has money, and guts and is willing to use both to protect those around him.

Straight-Arrow: an archer with an attitude he is proud of his native american heritage and shows it off in his costume. he is also an excellent hand to hand fighter.

Calico: a mutant girl with feline DNA, she is a flirtatious hottie who likes to show off her new body, which wasn't this good before her mutation kicked in. she has the ability to turn back into her other self, but refuses to out of insecurity

Buzz: after being injected with irradiated humming bird blood, this momma's boy became a heroe, like his mother wanted. only she still doesn't think he's good enough.

Magistress: a practicing sorceress, she uses her powers as a hero to look out for her twin brother, Buzz. She is more grounded and self assured than her brother, and tries to keep him out of depression.

Synthetic Synthia: based on LMD technology she is a wholly different type of simulacrum. she is able to mimic the appearance of any humanoid she comes in contact with. she also posses strength and invulnerability. She was built by The Mechanic to prove his skills. while she has free will and the ability to tell he's probably going to (if he hasn't already) cheat on her, she has loyalty to him hard wired into her circutry... which is depressing because she's madly in love... with the Magistress, who loves her back

another intentional knock off.

Orb-Weaver

Dale Danvers was a youth prodigy. Living with his last living relatives, his older brother and sister-in-law, Dale studied everything he could, even the spiders that made their home in his basement room. One day an explosion in his basement lab mixed chemicals, bits of radioactivity, and the poor spiders together as they bombarded Dale. Dale could now lift fifty times his own weight, jump amazing distances, was agile, possessed an early warning system, and could cling to walls. He was even able to create tools that would aide him, spinnerets that could be fastened to his wrists and ankles, tracking chips that worked with his danger-sense, and even a tear reisistant fabric for a costume.

he first started out trying to make a bit of money for his family that was just barely getting by. he stated out doing pictures for tabloids, then after watching t.v. one night got into a new thing called "Ultimate Fighting". all he had to do was show up to kick the crap out of someone, a great way to let out his pent-up teenage aggression. after a couple of weeks he was caught up in the glitz and glam and forgot why he was doing it in the first place. then one fateful night he had a fight with his brother, and like men in their family, they both went for a walk to cool down. Dale wound up going to another fight and winning money for himself, his older brother Kenneth wound up being shot by a mugger. When Dale got home he blamed himself. His older brother had always told him that what he put out into the world came back to you, and Dale couldn't help but see that he'd put bad out into the world since becoming lost in the lights of his minor celebrity. he vowed from that moment on, he would use his powers to put good into the world, and only good.

This was many years ago however. Since then he has fallen in love, and had that loved ripped away, fought and won, fought and lost, fallen in love many times over again, been on the verge of ending his own life, sacrificed what he wanted for what was needed by his Sister-in-law (who had a chronic heart condition), sacrificed what he dreamed of for the good of the city, broke the heart of his lover for the good of the city, and fought and bled along side the greatest heroes the world has ever known. among the hero community, it is known that if you face a new bad guy and need a hand, the Orb-Weaver is the man to call. if he can't help you, he can point you to someone who can. Eventually he had great joys in his life; a civil ceremony to formalize his relationship with John Clark, the love of his life since highschool, telling his sister-in-law, the closest thing to a mother he'd ever known, about his identity, and being offered a place on "Team First Strike", the Worlds Greatest Heroes.

The Team First Strike
--WMD: a highly decorated soldier who lost his legs in action was granted the chance to fight for his nation again. He was given a massive battle suit that made him roughly the size of a SUV. loaded with weaponry, machinery, and the will and drive to use it against those he deems evil, he is a one man Weapon of Mass Destruction
--Insect Master: Ever since he was a teenager Lane Summers was facinated by inscets. he grew up studying them, becoming the worlds formost authority on entemology. He eventually built a harness that allowed him to emit pheremones to control insects. he has constantly upgraded so that he can control almost any invertebrate (which out number vertebrates thank you), he is powerful, but still has very little self confidence. his ex-wife (who married him because he'd become rich and famous off of his patents, divorced informing him smugly that she was pregnent. he knows full well the son is probably not his, but he wishes to be a father anyway.
--Major Freedom: a weakling, labled 4-F during WWII, Rodger Stevens was offered a chance by a mystical being. He was granted as much power as he believed. so long as his confidence in his purpose was strong, he would be too. he was recruited into the army and was quickly became an icon of the war. However, this deal was made when he was a teenager, head strong and sure of everything. as he grew in the war he learned that nothing was firm, that concepts of morality were constantly shifting to accomadate regimes and convenience. his power began to wain, and he went into seclusion not long after the war. no one knows what he did between then and 1984, but that is when he reappeared. Now, looking older, but sure once again, he was no longer fighting for a nation, but for the ideas the nation was founded on.
--Athena: Athena is a goddess come down to earth. Goddess of wisdom and strength. Perhaps her one weakness is her pride. she is a strategic thinker and prefers to fight from a distance, but those who insult her, incur her wrath, will soon wish they had never been born.
--Devastatrix: Former lover of the beheamoth now known as the Devastator. In an attempt to siphon off the power that caused his transformation into the Devastator, she was accidently imbued with a small fraction of it. but that small fraction was enough to transform her from a beautiful, but physically weak actress, to the buxom red-skinned Devastatrix
--Major Power: a female Army officer who was bonded to a bizarre alien device who's name translates simply to: "The Generator". The device, a highly covetted weapon and tool, is now a part of her. It gives her unlilmited energy, strength, and blasts of what ever form of energy she wishes. She was a spoiled rich girl, but now she must heft a great responsiblity.

The Higher-Powers
--The Devestator: once a professional football player, he sold his soul to an extradimensional being and became host to the "Devastation Force" a cosmic force of destruction. he is the size of a house, and has the intelligence of a toddler. he does not intended to destroy, but doesn't know his own strength.
--The Creator: once a promising Surgeon, he lost the nerve to practice medicine after being forced to watch his wife raped and murdered by a psychopath. he sold his soul to find a way to stop the pain. he became host to "The Creation Force" a cosmic force of renewal. he is able to form things from his will, and even enhance his abilities with magic. He is of great intelligence.
--The Imaginer: once a promising writer, when his muse dried up with the death of his father, he gave up. he tried to drink himself to death, like his father. in a near death experience he agreed to become host to "The Thought Force" a cosmic force of intelligence and creativity and imagination. he was granted telepathy and telekinesis on a grand scale. he has retained his own mind.
That is my idea, what do you think?

Further to the KNock-off-Verse...

Aqua- Outlaw Princess of the Ocean

Icaoula swam as fast as her tail could push her. fear tainted her thoughts. What if the priests told someone? What if Draegon came back today? What if she were followed. It was these questions that caused her to be tangled in the net. Her paniced mind believed she had been captured by her people, that they intended to kill her daughter.

Icaoula was what humans would call a "Mermaid". She was not the alluring beauty that most humans believe Mer-folk to be. Her skin was a damp dark green, as was her hair. her teeth were pointed, and her body moved flawlessly into the three-foot fishtail from her waist. She had small uncovered breasts capped in such a dark green, they might have been black. She was considered very lovely among her people in the city of Oulan. She herself was an arbiter.

Four men hauled the nets up, fearing they'd accidently caught a dolphin or other creature by accident. When Icaoula was dumped onto their deck they stared in disbelief. they were fishermen who were as close as family. They did notice, of course, that the mermaid held a bundle, wrapped in a strange sort of cloth they had never seen before.

when they began to whisper to each other Icaoula realized which human-language they spoke. Aquarians took great pride in being linguists. she spoke to them. She pleaded for one of them to take her daughter. She showed them the bundle in her arms. In the bundle was a small sleeping infant that appeared to be completely human. She explained that her "Beautiful, ugly daughter" would never be accepted by Aquarians as they hated and feared humans.

One of the fishermen confessed that he and his wife were trying to get pregnant, but as yet had failed. Icaoula handed the child to him, and made her way to the side slowly. she paused to rest something on the deck. "If you ever need me, place this in the ocean, and press the red button. and please, tell my daughter that her mother loved her more than words can express."

"What is her name?" asked the fisherman who was taking the baby in.

"Sea-AKa" replied Icaoula. "It means, 'She who Seeks Justice'." with that the Mermaid dissappeared.

twenty years passed quickly. Sea-Aka, or CK as she was often known, was pre-law at college. she had yet to tell her parents about her odd abilities. the fact that she could breath easily underwater, lift great weights, and that her skin could not be punctured. Finally she overheard her parents arguing over whether or not to tell her of her origins. as the story came out, she demanded to finally meet her birth mother.

They went to the marina and put the device in the water, pressed the button, and waited. CK told them she heard something, but wasn't quite sure what it was. they waited 12 hours before they finally learned that the signal had been heard. six armed Aquarian men swam to them. On in the lead of the others. the one in the lead announced himself as King Draegon, crowned monarch of the Aquarian People. He demanded to know what humans were doing attempting to contact his queen.

The story slowly came out that Icaoula was a simple Arbiter in a city not far from the captial of the Aquarian kingdom. Draegon would visit her often in his youth, raping her. as he was the crowned prince, he could not be tried for this, or even accused. When he took the thrown he mandated that Icaoula wed her. he had no clue that she had born a daughter from his attacks on her, nor that she had hidden that daughter. Icaoula was now no better than a concubine, and Draegon was a jealous man.

When Sea-Aka announced herself, Draegon at first was in denile, and ordered the men to attack her and her family. she dove into the water to lead them away from her family. as she fought she felt something strange in her tail, but as she was fighting five Aquarian warriors, she paid no heed to it, until Draegon declared something impossible. She looked down to find her legs had fused into a long beautiful fish tail. Her tail was a good two feet longer than any of the warriors. Draegon explained quickly that only Royal Aquarians have tails of such length. in fact she was even longer than his.

The nuts and bolts is that Her tails comes and goes at her whim. while she can change her skin color (A normal Aquarian trait), she could never fully turn into an Aquarian, as her hands, and mouth were entirely the wrong structure and her blonde hair would always stand out.

Now, she has a true claim to the Aquarian throne, however Draegon has levied charges against her. if she is caught in the ocean by an Aquarian, she may be killed on the spot, ironically no Aquarian man may touch her as she is a royal. She is the outlaw- princess of the oceans.

A Man Versus a Martyr

My name is David Coulter, and I'm going straight to Hell. I haven't done anything outstandingly evil. I don't talk to angles, demons, or God. I just know that anyone who hates Garret Stewart must be one evil S.O.B. I should explain about Garret. My parents adopted him out of Children and Family Services care. his parents had beat him since he was born, and fed him just enough to let him survive. when he was removed from their care he was placed in the care of his uncle, who sexually abused him. He was removed from there and placed into foster care where he stayed exactly one month before he was adopted by my parents. Despite the hell and crap he's had to endure, Garret is a decent, hardworking, genuinely nice guy. he also seems to be exceedingly handsome, and is very strong and fast. This brings me to why I hate this guy.

He moved in my parents house and I was okay with that. I didn't start hating him till he started school with me. Now I have been on the track team's second string for two years. I train hard every day. I blow off my studies sometimes so I can have a little fun, but I make sure I stay in shape. The only thing I want more than to be first string on Track, is to have Natalie Sharpner on my arm. She is unbelievably hot. I'm serious, I didn't think High School girls were allowed to be that hot.

I'm coming to why I hate him now. He's in school for all of a day. his grades are better than mine, he made first string track even though he's never trained and not only is Natalie ga-ga for this guy, but every girl he talks to. He's not a person, he's a friggin' angel! How is a guy like me supposed to compete with that?!

Wassup buddy give me a few hours I'll write up something on your ideas, I'm just cruising the SSH for now.

Two new Initiative members.

Power Chord: Rebel March, a god from an alternate dimension. he has strength and invulnerability comperable to an asguardian or olympian. he is the God of rebellion. He is fairly laid back, but insists that people recognize him as a god. His primary weapon is an Uru War Guitar which he calls Indy. depending on how he plays it, the guitar can produce a number of different effects, inlcuding kinetic blasts, empathic control, and electric bolts. It can also be weilded as a club. He can also use it to fly.

Masquerade: Boudreaux LeBeau (no relation to Gambit). A cajun who never actually lived down south until his 12th birthday (he has no accent). in an attempt to recover his heritage he lost, began collecting Mardi Gras masks. He shopped so frequently at a single shop that he became friends with the strange old woman who ran it. Upon her death, when he turned 16, she left the store to him, including a secret storeroom full of masks and a book cataloguing their powers. all of these masks were enchanted. most of them using voodoo or traditional magic, though some of them are international sorts of magic. He now uses them, kept in a magic bag the old woman left behind. Among them are "The Face of The Moon" which allows him to see anything on earth provided where it is is night, "The Bird Mask" which transforms him into an avian humanoid

My only problem with that is that it's been stated that two Riders are perfectly capable of co-existing. Danny Ketch is the "true" rider, being the host of Noble Kale, the demonic spirit of vengence. Blaze is a "fo-rider" created by Mephisto as a way of screwing over Blaze's mother and having a trump card in his plans.
