Any Exiles fans in the hizzy?

They still have to go around fixng the Timebreakers messes. Well they don't....but I figure they will.

I'm real interested to see where it's all going. They are getting members from each of the different timelines they are visiting during World Tour...but, I like it better when the new characters come more slowly. One dies, another appears. Right now, there are way to many new characters with very little development.

Plus, each of the worlds they have been visiting during this World Tour goes by so quickly. While the idea is great, it might be one of the low points of the series. (Although, a low point for Exiles is still good reading.)

I always liked the Exiles, and own some trades and some single issues, but it never kept me reading. I plan to pick up some of the older trades soon though. What does piss me off however is that now, none of the Exiles (except Morph) are actually from a 'new' universe. These are all characters that have appeared in other titles and other teams, unlike the original team, which only had Blink as a 'recognizable' character.

I dunno about that. Mimic was just as recognizable. Hell you could look at any of their members and probably guess exactly who they were if you're reasonably well versed in the MU.

Say I got a question. Who do you guys think would be good as a future member? Remember you got limitless possibilities here. I'm sure you've got some creative ideas.

I was thinking Super Skrull or Nova.

I also had a somewhat crazy idea for a Black Panther Iron Fist mix. Like T'challa crossed over to kun lun in his reality and became his world's version of the living weapon.
You could call him either Iron Panther or Panther fist. Black Iron and Black fist dont sound quite as good.

Deaths head 1 because he travels through time all the time and gets lost and crap like that so it would be cool. That and he likes to blow stuff up and kill things he is tough.

Ok i do agree that deaths in comics can work sometimes..

Its just getting too cliche in this book..and predictable..

I mean investing attachment in characters is an important part of story.

Its why Star Wars 4-6 rocked and 1-3 sucked.

On the one hand I see your point, yet on the other, I can think of any other book where you are less sure who will survive. I love that unpredictabilty.

I do think you should at least build them up first (ie Sunspot) but its one of the fresh things about the series, plus you know they probably aren't going to keep bringing them back time and time again, and that deaths in this comic will for once *gasp* mean something!

It also kinda makes sense because this team is traveling to all different universes, some much more deadly than even the 616 universe (ie technovirus reality), so their lifespan is also more likely to be reduced, which is why the timebrakers needed THE very best heroes from each reality.

That's not what I meant though. When the team first debuted in Exiles #1, only Blink (and to a lesser extent Nocturne) had appeared before. All of the other characters were originals, from universes we had never seen before. Now, that situation has totally reverted and we've got Morph being the only one who hadn't appeared before the series started (although even he resembles AoA Morph).

It just comes off as lazy writing to me. Instead of coming up with new and exciting concepts based on forgotten or old heroes, the team consists out of a group that were all established in another title.

I don't think it's lazy writing, so much as they're just taking advantage of the Marvel Onmiverse. There are a lot of characters out there, in universes we've read about before. What's the point in having a reality-hopping superteam if we can't include one or two of those alternate heroes?

But I see what you're saying. We need more characters like Sunfire and Sasquatch-- good, original characters that resemble their 616 counterparts in superpowers alone.

I totally agree, but the team is populated with, what, five of them now?

Exactly. :D

Well, ya know, there are a lotta fans of underused characters out there, so Exiles, fer th' moment, has become a place where said characters can come out to play and attract those fans. 'Sides, with such a rotating cast another member's bound to come along sooner or later.

At least until Quesada decides to rape every quality book they have left.

I will get into this book when Claremont comes onboard

If he is left to write his books he isnt

I'm really not excited about the future of Exiles. The addition of Longshot, Spidey 2099, Power Princess, and Psylocke doesn't sound like an interesting team. I wasn't even that big on Sabertooth joining the team. I really hope this is temporary and that Claremont doesn't ruin the book for me.

We may be gettin T-Bird back soon. Someone asked about him in one of the recent letters pages, and he said to keep our eyes peeled for T-Bird to return. Something tells me that after this story, Claremont is getting rid of PP and replacing her with T-Bird again. I sure hope so.:O

It is one of the best series out there, I just hope that Claremont doesn't ruin the vibe the book has going for it. He is already starting by having
Psylocke
join the team...which I am not thrilled by. She is Claremonts Spider-Woman, he is just in love with that character.

They also mentioned the team reuniting with TJ, but I don't think permanently.
The only problem is that Thunderbird's return will inevitably suck now that Nocturne's off the team. Thanks again for hijacking her, Claremont. :o

I just wish that Claremont would mention her miscarraige at some point in New Excalibur. It is one of her defining character moments from Exiles, that was one of the things from the series that really shaped who she became later.:(

I like some of Claremont's recent stuff. I am finding his X Men The End to be a very rewarding story, especially if you have read x men forever....

but yeah I'm not sure how this will turn out, but it's gotta be better than Chuck Austen's run.

I like the feel of Exiles. and ideas for new Exiles... I've got a million:

Phoenix: Shang-Chi has been chosen as the host of the Phoenix Force, but it is currently dormant, giving him the powers, but not the possession.

Lament: Jubilation Lee is a dark angry Goth/Punk with a insane crush on Gambit, who broke her heart by marrying Storm

Captain America: Steve Rodger from a universe where all humans are gorillas.

The Immortal: Craig Hollis from a universe now devoid of life, and only 500,000 years from ending. He is well experienced in combat, and a very quiet and lonely individual. he has harnessed all the powers latent in the body (Much like Iron fist and Dr. Strange).

Sacred Flame: Susan storm from the "What If..." universe where the fantastic four all got the Human Torch's powers. (She's a nun).

Bruiser: Molly Hayes from a universe where her powers are more like that of the Green Lantern (only pink) and the Runaways remained in foster care.

I like that captain America Idea, but DC owns Monkey characters...

how about a bulldog as cap?

Well the idea isn't that he's an animal, its just that... well he's still a gorilla.

a super soldier gorrilla no less. That'd be.... interesting i guess.

That sounds about as good as Cap-Wolf. Anyone remember Cap-Wolf? Yeah, I wish I didn't, either. :(

Exiles is my favorite book, but i gotta agree that the overall tone of the book has been dramatically ****ed up. It use to be a book of infinite possibilites and fresh ideas every issue but now it seems more like a book for people with ADD.

I think the worst move they made was giving the Exiles a central villain in Porteus. I feel that took away some of the excitment out of the book, and while I was never a big Mimic fan killing him off seemed like an easy fix to the only interesting thing going on in the book with him, sabertooth , and blink.

I hope Black Panther, Iron fist or Taskmaster joins the Exhiles in the reasonably near future. (or any other world varient of them thats reasonably close).
