Anybody Going To See "flight 93"??

Isn't it called United 93? And doesn't it kinda suck?

I'll wait to watch it at home in cry like a blubbering idiot.

I just got back from seeing it and you could not be more wrong. Not only was the film technically solid, but it's nearly impossible not to be moved by it. It was gut-wrenchingly poignant and I don't think I've ever seen a theater full of people so wide-eyed and tense for 2 hours.

Many people have said that this movie came too soon after 9/11, but I think the timing is just right. If it came out in '02 or '03, it would definitely have been too soon. The memories would have still been too fresh and the wounds still too tender. But if they made it ten years from now, those memories would have become distorted and those wounds would have healed too much. This movie needed to come out now, so that it would still be relevant and emotional to those who lived through it. It needed to hurt a little bit to watch, it needed to feel like it was only yesterday. I hardly ever say this, but I think people need to see this movie.

just got back from the movie. it was good! a real solid film. and theres absolutely no propaganda in it. the film isnt taking sides, nor does it have any sort of political agenda. its just a depiction of the people on the plane, what they went through, and how their heroic acts saved the lives of countless others. the film isnt about the tragedy of these peoples lost lives, its about their bravery that should be remembered and celebrated.

I saw it Friday afternoon. I was speechless. But at the same time I was so proud of those men and women. Man..... I cried as I watched those people make those cell phone calls to their loved ones. I know why most of the posters on these boards don't want to see this movie. They want to go on believing that America was asking for this. Some probably think the maniacs who did these things were heroes and don't want that image to be altered. This movie is just a sraight story of what happened. It even shows how completely inept our security was....how soft we had become......how much red tape even th emilitary had to go thru just to get fighter jets airborne. I've never seen a movie like this. It really shows the courage of the the human spirit. Man......what if that exact combination of people were not on that plane??? What if they were just like the ones on the others who probably thought they were going to Cuba or something?? These were the right people at the right time. We owe a gratitude to these "ordinary" real-life people. That's really what this movie is about. God bless them and their families.

By the way...."each" family memeber was okay with the making of this movie.

my only concern about the movie is...how good of a movie would it have been, had this not been actual events? if the film played the exact same way, but 9/11 had never happened, flight 93 never happened, if this were just a fictional movie about a fictional highjacking, would it still have been a good film? because, i think movies, whether based on actual or fictional events, in the end still need to be good solid films. and its tough to say whether or not i'd consider it a good film had this been a fictional tale.

But that's really a moot point, isn't it??? Why make "Titanic" or "Pearl Harbor"? They were events that everyone knows about. Why show any movie about an actual event that changed the course of history?? What set this movie apart is the use of no-name actors.....and hardly any musical score. But you hardly even notice. So why worry over whether over "if this was fiction"???

Great movie.

George W. Bush: I am communicating to you to inform you that the person called "kypade" is in possesion of Weapons of Mass Destruction. We also believe that the persons called "WOLVERINE25TH", "Warhmammer", "cerealkiller182" and "O'Haire" are all part of an Axis of Evil. We must strike now if we are to regain freedom for our country...

I honestly could care less about it. Just doesn't seem all that appealing to me. I still haven't seen the Passion of the Christ because it doesn't look that interesting. Just really not my type of movie.

Besides, I don't like the disregard for fact (terrorists have cheesey 1980s chest strap bombs, Flight 93 was shot down, etc ;))

You should care about a chapter in the history of your country, Matt.

Or are you saying you didn't care when the Twin Towers were shot down?

I'm not seeing it to be honest. Seems to be nothing more than propaganda to show how America is much better than everyone else.

Maybe because America is better than everyone else :o

Common sense :p

A movie about a chapter of history isn't history

To each his own. All people claim open-mindedness until it's something they don't like.

Go to hell celldog, I didn't say anything bad about the movie. I didn't show a bit of closed mindedness. I simply said it was not my type of movie and I most likely won't see it, therefore I won't judge it. So get off your high horse, *******.

Dang, Just because the movie doesnt appeal to Matt doesnt mean he didn't care about the actual event.
It's just a movie, and what happened on 9.11.01 happened.

Like the movie was 100% accurate anyway.

I can still see it now, People will watch this movie, and as a result, people will be more biased towards Arabic and/or Muslim people.

My mom, a hardcore democrat, rolled her eyes at the remarks of it being "too soon."

Dude, I highly doubt many people think that. I personally just don't want to see the film. It's way too soon, I think. And I don't want to pay twelve bucks to get depressed about something that happened five years ago. I might see it eventually, but not now.

Actually, I don't think it's a moot point. It's quite possible that it wouldn't have gotten so many good reveiws if it weren't about an actual event. On the other hand, it still might have gotten excelent reveiws. I really don't know. But it's possible.

Wow. It sounds like I need to throw on my I love America hat. eat some apple pie. Then hop in my truck covered in American, & Confederate flags. Tune the radio to a good baseball game, & head out to the theater.

I'll be seeing it as soon as I can.

This isn't the first time Hollywood has produced a film about tragedy - heck, they made films about WWII BEFORE the war was over..........

Yes, as propaganda for the war.

So did they show how they got those cheesy Commando bombs on the plane.....

This is probably the one movie that I'd download. I really do not want to give money to support it (because I think it's incredibly wrong, and questionable, that people are making money from this) but, I want to see it before criticizing to much.

Are they? If that's true, it does give me incentive... though, my personal thoughts on that day still hinder me from supporting.
