Anyone afraid POTC 2 might break any Spidey Records?

Who. Cares. I'm not getting any of the profit from either of the movies. They're all gonna get a third title and they're both two absolutely FANTASTIC series' that deserve every penny, piece of praise, award and media nod.

I hear that this movie is destined to have a huge opening day and may even break Spidey's 3 day Record!!! I think this is enough to get my Spidey-Sense tingling!:spidey: How about yours?

No.

records are made to be broken...it happens, and it still won't change the fact that we don't have a hand in the making of any of these movies, and being worried about Spiderman losing its boxoffice crown to another movie still gets us nowhere.

No, i think the reason X-men 3 had a huge opening day was because it was publicized so much and i havent seen much publicity for this movie, except for an occasional clip on tv.

Pirates of The Caribbean 2 should be good. The first one was very well done and I am excited for the second one as well.

However, who the heck cares if it breaks any Spider-man records? Seriously, it means nothing about quality. Spider-man was a quality movie as was Pirates of The Caribbean, and hopefully Pirates of The Caribbean 2 is also a quality movie. I prefer to judge a movie by how good it is and not how many records it sets.

It might, but honestly, who cares? It means nothing about the film. Heck, the highest grossing film of all time made so much money mostly because millions of girls thought one of the leads was cute so they saw it 20 times.

Really, one thing I've always wondered though, is how they can rank these movies in how much money they make. I mean, shouldn't they take into account the day and age the movies are released in? The first star wars movie was realeased in the 70's, and a movie ticket cost a lot less then then they do now, so really Star Wars still had more people attend it then Spider-man.

Heck, if we take money inflation into account, Gone With the Wind may be the #1 box office holder.

So what if it does?

Pirates 2 is a fantastic movie. It's no Spider-man 2, but it's a great movie that the summer has needed for a long ****ing time.

Agreed and I usually don't with you. POTC 2 looks like an amazing film and IMO will still be the best film of this summer. I think it will do fantastic at the box office and be the number one movie of this summer and year.

Well, if it does, I will be fine with this.

But what I have seen so far, I doubt it will break Spidey's records.

I think it will make $90-95m opening weekend, because it is 150 mins.

But in total, I believe it will get about $339m.

what a funny thread to look back on:rolleyes: ...oh by the way...POTC2 will pass SM2's take by Saturday.

I think simpsons will do the best, spidey seconed, then POTC

yeah, they SHOULD take into account the day and age the movies are released in, as in Star Wars and Gone with the Wind were released in the days when the number 1 entertainment medium by a longshot, especially in Gone with the Wind's case, was going to the movies.
So when a good movie came out, EVERYONE went to see it, they didn't buy bootlegs on the street corners or download it on their comp, or wait to experience it on their home theater system, they paid and went to the theaters.
So yes, the day and age should definitely be taken into account.

this thread reminds of when everyone said in the SR section they were afraid of POTC2 because the release date was close to SR.

and we all know what happened.lol

Wow, you people really like talking about Box Office numbers. You should see the Superman Box Office thread, it's like the second coming.
